Avatar n tn I am really thinking that trilipix raises blood sugar levels....I have never had a sugar level problem, than my primary care doc put me on trilipix. I took it for six months ... went in for my routine blood work and he says my sugar was up and I was now had pre diabetes with my a1c test being 6.1 The only change I have made Is the Trilipix...I don't think it is a coincedence! I quit taking it...not just because of that but I was also having terrible muscle spasms....
Avatar m tn Tricor is a Fenofibrate which helps control cholesterol and TGLS by blocking their abosorbtion into your system through your intestinal tract. There is an extremely and I mean EXTREMELY small chance that Tricor can cause Diabetes, but it is extremely rare. How high was you fasting blood sugar level? What does your doctor say? Let us know so we can hellp provide better help.

Avatar n tn I am going to my doctor in a couple days and am going to do just that. Also, if your tricor is not as effective as it should be, adding 250mg of niacin a day makes a dramatic difference. I had lipid levels over 1000 and sometimes up to 3000 while on tricor for years. After a well informed NEW Dr. told me to add the Niacin, my levels dropped to 130-160 range immediately and never go up. Saved my life! A $5 bottle of Niacin!
237039 tn?1264258057 t think there would be any correlation between taking the Tricor and vasospams. Is it just coincidence and the fact that they have subsided is because of my diet and exercise? Or is it possible that there is somthing about the Tricor that has stopped them? Anyone know?

Avatar n tn My reg family doc wanted me to go to see the gastro doctor to have an endo done back like 3 or 4 months ago when he had to switch me from protonix (which is my 2nd or 3rd med to try for acid reflux) to Nexium , the strongest dose 40 mgs I think. Well at the time I didn't have time to go see the gastro doc. But I had to go see a ENT because of an ear infection and he said my throat looked really irriated and I had better get my acid reflux checked out.
Avatar n tn In addition to that of course I have to take a statin and Tricor. Good news is that Tricor will have a generic out in May. I was also told by my pharmicist that Plavix has a generic coming out in July. Ask your pharmicist if there is a generic of Niaspan due out any time soon. And as Flycaster has stated, with the Niacin there is a flushing feeling also. It only bothered me if I didn't take an aspirin just before taking the niacin. My doctor told me about that.
Avatar f tn I am 48 year old female, have had high cholestrol for which I have been on Zetia & Tricor for several years, now is almost normal. I had a bad reaction to the statins- ended up in the hospital with very high liver enzymes. Recently, I have been getting very lightheaded and experiencing pain in my upper arms. My doctor refered me to a cardiologist who performed the heart ultrasound and the holter which came back normal.

Avatar f tn That is the definitive for diagnosing asthma. The problem with PFT is that everything is compared to a sample population norm (take a sampling of 40 year old females and average their test scores). You could be WAY higher than the average, but since you tested near the norm they say you are ok. That happens with me. I can go to the dr with a PFT of 93% and be declared ok, but for me that is way low. When I am healthy my PFT is around 120%. I have done 118% with pneumonia.
559058 tn?1215810834 I dont have any bad side effects and even my sex life is great. For me the zyprexa is so much better. I think depakote andlithium should be take off the market. But again thait is my opinion. There are much better meds out there than those two.

Avatar n tn Hi All, Recently I have gone through Lipid Profile Test and my triglyceride came as 458 mg/dL. Most online portal (American Heart Association and various others) define this as High Triglyceride. However, my Doctor from Kaiser, thinks it is perfectly fine. He said, anything below <= 879 mg/dL is fine. In-fact, result came from lab under normal range. Am I missing something here, please suggest?
