Tricor or trilipix

Common Questions and Answers about Tricor or trilipix

tricor

Avatar n tn Thanks for the post, good info. Doctor wants to put me on either tri-cor, trilipix, or antara in addition to the simvastatin. Need to call my insurance to see what co-pays would be. I've really changed my diet and without taking supplements or vitamins I don't think I would be able to do much more as far as diet. I've cut fast food to maybe once a month and I watch what I eat there, no cheese or mayo on anything. Always use wheat bread and rarely eat beef.
Avatar n tn s not a bad thing...it just is...talk to your Dr about the side effects of Trilipix or google it...and discuss with him/her about oral meds along with diet & exercise...I have type 2 as well and I started on oral meds about 5 yrs after diagnosis...now 27 yrs later I am on oral and insulin and my blood sugars are fantastic!! Good luck and let us know how it goes...
Avatar m tn Wow, I wasn't aware of Tricor causing elevation of blood sugar. Seems I need to research Tricor a bit more.
237039 tn?1264258057 Is it just coincidence and the fact that they have subsided is because of my diet and exercise? Or is it possible that there is somthing about the Tricor that has stopped them? Anyone know?
212161 tn?1599427282 has anyone or does anyone take this med and if so have you had any side affects thank you
252327 tn?1250183976 Tricor is a cholestol lowering drug, nothing to do with insurance
Avatar n tn Its particularly worse combined with tricor. The pain actually feels like its in my bones at the joints. I have taken tricor for almost 20 years and I just started having this problem about 6-8 months ago. The pain in the morning makes me feel like I am 100 and my body is betraying me! This is what I noticed that changed. I initially started off on the brand name fenofibrate, Tricor - had no problems. Then they added Crestor(name brand) because that was the only people that made it.
822804 tn?1298226302 Have they suggested taking a statin? My trigs are actually over 2100. I take Tricor to keep these down.
Avatar f tn Thank you for answering my question. Yes I take trilipix and lipitor.
Avatar n tn In addition to that of course I have to take a statin and Tricor. Good news is that Tricor will have a generic out in May. I was also told by my pharmicist that Plavix has a generic coming out in July. Ask your pharmicist if there is a generic of Niaspan due out any time soon. And as Flycaster has stated, with the Niacin there is a flushing feeling also. It only bothered me if I didn't take an aspirin just before taking the niacin. My doctor told me about that.
Avatar n tn I tried the diet, exercise and Omega 3 Fish oil alternative and finally gave in when my triglycerides hit 2100. The Tricor has corrected that problem. So it's a matter of peference and what you are comfortable with.
Avatar n tn I have a genetic disorder that is called hyperlipidemia and/or hypertriglyceridemia. Other than having these bad genes, smoking, drinking alcohol and lack of exercise and a heart healthy diet causes triglyceride levels to rise. Triglyceride levels from 1000 to 1500 can cause pancreatitis, per my doctor. My grandmother died from this. I have managed to lower them mainly through stopping all alcohol, which at the time the 2000 tri's were measured, I did not drink any alcohol, and diet.
Avatar f tn My brother and I both have this and it is totally under control with meds for both of us. My triglycerides were over 2100 before I started taking Tricor. My brother takes Tricor and Lovastatin. Both of us now have normal readings.
745393 tn?1345077196 I have tried a lot of meds for this condition, have taken advicor, lipitor, crestor, zetia, tricor, provastatin, niaspan, gemfibronil. I have been on lovaza (omega 3,and 6 ) for the pass five months, but as you can see it has not helped very much. Heart doctor says I have taken the limit. All of these choles meds causes me to ache in my muscles very very bad, and dr. says this could be a serious situation. I need to know from someone please what can I take now ?. I need very bad to be on some med.
Avatar m tn This is leading me to think more along the lines of prosititis or again, the interaction of my Tricor. Am I on the right track? Many thanks.
Avatar f tn She has requested a referral for allergy testing. Is it possible to have bronchospasm or asthma without a lung problem? Or should she order some other test(s) for me?
Avatar f tn He also has pain when he becomes nervous or anxious which he never had before the surgery. On our follow up visit his Dr told him the tests shows a portion of his heart where there are 3 bypasses is not getting enough blood. Although we realized his recovery was going backwards we were shocked. Teh doctor feels plague is the cause of the problem. My husband resisted his suggestion of doing a cath, so he was given a prescription for Tricor 145mg.
Avatar n tn My reg family doc wanted me to go to see the gastro doctor to have an endo done back like 3 or 4 months ago when he had to switch me from protonix (which is my 2nd or 3rd med to try for acid reflux) to Nexium , the strongest dose 40 mgs I think. Well at the time I didn't have time to go see the gastro doc. But I had to go see a ENT because of an ear infection and he said my throat looked really irriated and I had better get my acid reflux checked out.
Avatar m tn I have been on Lisinopril (bp) for 5 years and Trilipix and Simvastatin (cholesterol) for the last 3-4 years.
782988 tn?1242685985 Can you add Tricor That is on of my meds for Cholesterol
Avatar n tn You can google the warnings and side effects of that one. I also take Tricor for my hyperlipidemia. But that is a fenofibrate, not a statin. Have you ever tried the grandfather of statins, Lipitor? Talk to your doctor and get the straight answers.
Avatar m tn Any fenofibrate is safe to use. One name is Tricor and it does a good job lowering serum TGL's. You can also impact your TGL's by cutting out all empty carbs like breads, pastas, sugar and alcohol as it metabolizes as sugars. I would try that first unless your numbers a very high, in excess of 400.
Avatar f tn My Tryglecerides are reading 300 and my cholesterol is over 200, I'm on 145 mg of Tricor and my prescription went up from 20 mg. to 40 mgs of Crestor; I was wondering what the possible side effects of taking these two everyday are. If someone would please write me and let me know. I would truly appreciate it.
Avatar m tn Yes, dehydration causes a higher creatinine reading.
Avatar f tn my tris were in the 500 a year ago, thats not good at all, you need to get them way down, there are great meds for it or you can start execrising and no fat diets are great lay off all white stuff, chips,graveys/breads etc. first go back get blood work done again they like for your tri to be under 150. thats what my dr says.
315318 tn?1353251800 Recently , I was prescribed a fenofibrate (Trilipix 135 mg) along with Crestor. My cardio wanted this for helping in getting my triglycerides down. I have not had a lipid profile done since starting on this med two months ago. However, since being a diabetic , I check my blood glucose (BG) many times during the day and what I am noticing is a clear trend in the BG numbers going lower at least over the last month or so.
Avatar m tn It is absolutely true. Links are not allowed or I would post a few, but Google "Statins and Surgery" and you'll see that many doctors are prescribing statins before and after many major surgeries due to their anti-inflammatory properties. Also, statins are being shown to help patients recover from pneumonia as well. They are finding new benefits from statins just about everyday it seems. Again, google and read for yourself, interesting information.
