Tricor and leg pain

Common Questions and Answers about Tricor and leg pain

tricor

Avatar n tn After 7 years of therapy taking Crestor and Tricor (fenofibrate), I, too, started experiencing intense pain in my legs, feet, back, and arms. My Dr. took me off Crestor last month but the pain returned within a few days, although not as intense as it was prior to my stopping Crestor. I took myself off fenofibrate just a couple of days ago and "Wow" what a difference! I can actually sleep at night and notice that the pain is dissipating more and more each day.
Avatar m tn My doctor just started me on Tricor and my blood sugar levels have gone up as well. Prior to being on Tricor, my fasting blood sugar has always been between 89 and 101. Now they range from 119 to 125. Any thoughts on alternative medications to lower high tryglicerides?
237039 tn?1264258057 t think there would be any correlation between taking the Tricor and vasospams. Is it just coincidence and the fact that they have subsided is because of my diet and exercise? Or is it possible that there is somthing about the Tricor that has stopped them? Anyone know?
Avatar n tn After a while on Tricor alone, I found out by trial and error that I had to stop Tricor for a couple of weeks to be able to walk around without general muscle aches and fatigue, or "flu-like symptoms, and then I would take it for 8 - 10 days and have to stop again. Bottom line is that I can no longer tolerate Tricor, which drastically lowered my triglycerides from over 2000 to around 1000. Diet changes after a heart attack and stroke keep my triglycerides around 700.
Avatar f tn I did even more research and figured out that I was prescribed Tricor about a month and 1/2 ago. I looked up Tricor's side effects and it seems that there can be a GERD type reaction and one commenter even said they had to go to the ER with chest pains. I stopped taking the Tricor and my GERD symptoms have much improved. I began generic prilosec and it didn't seem to help me. But stopping the Tricor has. My breathing has improved.

252327 tn?1250183976 Hey everyone, are any of you on synthroid and on Tricor? If you have been reading my posts you will have seen that I have been having problems with shortness of breath and palputations, Thinking it was my synthroid I started adjusting my dose. Then I did have a slight problem with peanut allergies. After not eating peanuts, the breathing problems and palputations continued. Last night I looked up the side effects of tricor ( I started them mid December) by Christmas the problems started.
822804 tn?1298226302 Have they suggested taking a statin? My trigs are actually over 2100. I take Tricor to keep these down.
Avatar m tn I wrote of numbness and tingling in my pinkies, edge of my hand and the sies of my knees with extreme pain when kneeling. You asked if I had Diabetes I have a strong family history of Diabetes and take Tricor for cholesterol (actually high Triglycerides) but get my blood checked every 6 months and sugars levels are never even close to a problem. A peripheral sypmtom I did not mention is the loss of the sense of smell but I have had ongoing sinusitus and sinus surgery over the years.
Avatar n tn Jack, same here. My TG level is 1900 but with tricor my level now is about 500, which is still quite high. I am not sure what to do now as I cant bring it down further. I am taking statin for my high cholesterol also. And I am feeling fatigue always and weakness in my legs. I used to play football but now, I feel really tired when running. 394052 tn?1203100849 He also said he seemed to be doing things in the vehicle like figiting with the radio and messing other things. He also suffers pain much of the time with arthritic hip and spinal arthritis. His mother had Alzheimer's (over age 80)and father had Parkinson disease (age 75 to80). I know he is scared this is happening to him. If I am on the wrong forum please let me know. I also suffer panic attacks and that is what I would blame it on, but I don't want to diagnose the problem.
Avatar m tn Yes, dehydration causes a higher creatinine reading.
Avatar f tn My husband resisted his suggestion of doing a cath, so he was given a prescription for Tricor 145mg. The doctor drew a diagram of the procedure that was used and in the area where there is apparently blockage a T was used to do 2 bypasses. The cardiologist seemed concerned that a stent may be difficult or impossible to place there. My questions are: 1: How can blockage occur so soon after surgery and should we expect more of the same in the near future?
Avatar n tn In addition to that of course I have to take a statin and Tricor. Good news is that Tricor will have a generic out in May. I was also told by my pharmicist that Plavix has a generic coming out in July. Ask your pharmicist if there is a generic of Niaspan due out any time soon. And as Flycaster has stated, with the Niacin there is a flushing feeling also. It only bothered me if I didn't take an aspirin just before taking the niacin. My doctor told me about that.
Avatar m tn So back in November of 2008, I all of a sudden experienced strong palpitations from my heart everytime I ate solid food. Coupled by the fact that I could actually feel the sensation of my heart all of a sudden, my BP was around 160/100. Years later my BP is more or less controlled with Atenolol, HCTZ, and I'm taking Tricor for high triglycerides--not high cholesterol mind you, because my total, LDL and HDL are perfectly normal.

I have been on lovaza (omega 3,and 6 ) for the pass five months, but as you can see it has not helped very much. Heart doctor says I have taken the limit. All of these choles meds causes me to ache in my muscles very very bad, and dr. says this could be a serious situation. I need to know from someone please what can I take now ?. 782988 tn?1242685985 Will you have any trackers for tracking new medication side-effects and benefits? These might be helpful.
Avatar n tn You can google the warnings and side effects of that one. I also take Tricor for my hyperlipidemia. But that is a fenofibrate, not a statin. Have you ever tried the grandfather of statins, Lipitor? Talk to your doctor and get the straight answers.
Avatar f tn I had a bad reaction to the statins- ended up in the hospital with very high liver enzymes. Recently, I have been getting very lightheaded and experiencing pain in my upper arms. My doctor refered me to a cardiologist who performed the heart ultrasound and the holter which came back normal. The stress test however was abnormal- 1 millimeter st segment depression. My cardiologist would like to a heart cathetrization and possibly insert stents.
Avatar f tn My hair is very dry and brittle, which it never has been and the texture and nature has changed. (was very curly now just frizzy) The skin under all my fingernails starting at the nail bed has a very light fleshy color and as it nears the end of the finder has a red line that turns even a deeper red as the nail extends beyond the end of the finger. The end of the nail is white.
Avatar f tn My Tryglecerides are reading 300 and my cholesterol is over 200, I'm on 145 mg of Tricor and my prescription went up from 20 mg. to 40 mgs of Crestor; I was wondering what the possible side effects of taking these two everyday are. If someone would please write me and let me know. I would truly appreciate it.
Avatar n tn I take 5mg Norvasc with 100 mg of a beta blocker(Lopressor) and Isosorbide (Nitrate) and Tricor every morning without any problems. But I am confused as to why Norvasc and Cardizem. They are both calcium channel blockers. Maybe someone can enlighten me on that. Have you talked to your pharmacist about any concerns?
Avatar m tn Any fenofibrate is safe to use. One name is Tricor and it does a good job lowering serum TGL's. You can also impact your TGL's by cutting out all empty carbs like breads, pastas, sugar and alcohol as it metabolizes as sugars. I would try that first unless your numbers a very high, in excess of 400.
Avatar m tn the first two times, there were a few blockages - 10, 18 and 20% The last time was in December 2013 with a different cardiologist (I moved across the state) and he said I had NO blockages at all. HUH??? My lipid profiles are still horrible even with medications. Pravacol, Tricor and Welchol. His answer for this question was: "Those medications took the blockages away." Of course, I am no doctor but this seems funny to me.
Avatar f tn My trigs were over 2100 last year. I was supposes to take Tricor, but didn't. My healthy brother contacted me and told me I had to take this. It's in our genes he said. Doesn't matter how much we diet and exercise. I have been on the Tricor now for the last several months. I did fast this time for my lipid panel and I had been on the Tricor for about 3 weeks when they tested me last and my trigs had dropped considerably.
