Tricor and leg cramps

Common Questions and Answers about Tricor and leg cramps

tricor

Avatar n tn After 7 years of therapy taking Crestor and Tricor (fenofibrate), I, too, started experiencing intense pain in my legs, feet, back, and arms. My Dr. took me off Crestor last month but the pain returned within a few days, although not as intense as it was prior to my stopping Crestor. I took myself off fenofibrate just a couple of days ago and "Wow" what a difference! I can actually sleep at night and notice that the pain is dissipating more and more each day.
Avatar m tn My doctor just started me on Tricor and my blood sugar levels have gone up as well. Prior to being on Tricor, my fasting blood sugar has always been between 89 and 101. Now they range from 119 to 125. Any thoughts on alternative medications to lower high tryglicerides?
Avatar n tn After a while on Tricor alone, I found out by trial and error that I had to stop Tricor for a couple of weeks to be able to walk around without general muscle aches and fatigue, or "flu-like symptoms, and then I would take it for 8 - 10 days and have to stop again. Bottom line is that I can no longer tolerate Tricor, which drastically lowered my triglycerides from over 2000 to around 1000. Diet changes after a heart attack and stroke keep my triglycerides around 700.
Avatar f tn Cramps in legs, more so in calf of both legs, but worse in left leg. Cramps in both feet and all toes, at times causing the toes to curl under, mostly the two toes just next to the big toe. Cramps in the instep area also. Heat will sometimes help, the legs feel cold and achy. My wrists ache more than usual. My hair is very dry and brittle, which it never has been and the texture and nature has changed.
Avatar m tn So back in November of 2008, I all of a sudden experienced strong palpitations from my heart everytime I ate solid food. Coupled by the fact that I could actually feel the sensation of my heart all of a sudden, my BP was around 160/100. Years later my BP is more or less controlled with Atenolol, HCTZ, and I'm taking Tricor for high triglycerides--not high cholesterol mind you, because my total, LDL and HDL are perfectly normal.
237039 tn?1264258057 t think there would be any correlation between taking the Tricor and vasospams. Is it just coincidence and the fact that they have subsided is because of my diet and exercise? Or is it possible that there is somthing about the Tricor that has stopped them? Anyone know?
212161 tn?1599427282 has anyone or does anyone take this med and if so have you had any side affects thank you
252327 tn?1250183976 Hey everyone, are any of you on synthroid and on Tricor? If you have been reading my posts you will have seen that I have been having problems with shortness of breath and palputations, Thinking it was my synthroid I started adjusting my dose. Then I did have a slight problem with peanut allergies. After not eating peanuts, the breathing problems and palputations continued. Last night I looked up the side effects of tricor ( I started them mid December) by Christmas the problems started.
822804 tn?1298226302 Have they suggested taking a statin? My trigs are actually over 2100. I take Tricor to keep these down.

Avatar f tn I did even more research and figured out that I was prescribed Tricor about a month and 1/2 ago. I looked up Tricor's side effects and it seems that there can be a GERD type reaction and one commenter even said they had to go to the ER with chest pains. I stopped taking the Tricor and my GERD symptoms have much improved. I began generic prilosec and it didn't seem to help me. But stopping the Tricor has. My breathing has improved.
Avatar n tn Jack, same here. My TG level is 1900 but with tricor my level now is about 500, which is still quite high. I am not sure what to do now as I cant bring it down further. I am taking statin for my high cholesterol also. And I am feeling fatigue always and weakness in my legs. I used to play football but now, I feel really tired when running. I hope someone can help recommending what to take to reduce my Tg and cholesterol further.
Avatar f tn Its not just my calf muscle, but my ankle and tops of my feet too. How are leg cramps and diabetes associated? I am a diabetic, but have been controlling my BS levels pretty well. At diagnosis my A1C was 11.5 and at my last check up I had it down to 5.9. (although it might not be quite that good at my next check up, I know it is nowhere near that high of a reading) Any suggestions on relief from the leg cramps?
Avatar m tn Yes, dehydration causes a higher creatinine reading.
Avatar n tn In addition to that of course I have to take a statin and Tricor. Good news is that Tricor will have a generic out in May. I was also told by my pharmicist that Plavix has a generic coming out in July. Ask your pharmicist if there is a generic of Niaspan due out any time soon. And as Flycaster has stated, with the Niacin there is a flushing feeling also. It only bothered me if I didn't take an aspirin just before taking the niacin. My doctor told me about that.

Avatar n tn Has anyone had problems with leg cramps on Tomoxifin? I was on Arimidex for 3 years and had extreme viginal dryness to the point of very painfull intercourse. Changed to Tomoxifin and my OBGYN prescribed Vagifem and problem solved for the dryness. BUT... now I have leg cramps all night long if I have been on my feet at all during the day. I had blood tests done and it showed low sodium, potasium and the BIN alittle low.
800427 tn?1324945719 i remember waking up in the middle of the night with the worst leg cramps and i would get out of bed and hobble to the bathroom to stand on the cold tile floor and they are outta there!
Avatar f tn I was eating one a day to help w cramps, and they caused me to be really constipated. Try water and stretching.
Avatar f tn ) the leg cramping usually happens when you are dehydrated, and the potassium in bananas helps as well
Avatar f tn Pickle juice or tonic water. I swear it works! I'd get up and drink some pickle juice out of the jar and then crawl back in bed and sleep great. I ate a ton of bananas (A TON) and I'm telling you, pickle juice is the answer! I mention tonic water because an old lady I know drinks a glass every night for her restless leg syndrome and she swears by it. I like pickles so it's a personal preference.
