I am on my 2nd week of Topamax. Get ready for some very strange side effects. Your hands and feet and face will tingle and fall asleep. I have no appetite at all. I can go from breakfast to dinner of the next day and not be hungry at all. I have to force myself to eat. I'm forgetting things. I went to Wal Mart and forgot what i went there for. I am on it for migranes so im hoping i can stick it out because my headaches are unbearable. Good luck!

Hello, Topamax can cause itching and erythematous rash in some individuals.Although the main side effects of topamax are slower reflexes, trouble thinking or concentrating, tiredness, poor coordination, and dizziness,yet it has shown itchy skin in some individuals. I feel that if you are showing any allergic reaction to topamax,pls stop taking it and consult your doctor for a change in prescription.You can take over the counter antihistaminic like benadryl or Claritin for itching.

I abruptly stopped taking it [which I NOW know is not a good thing to do- too little too late] and almost a year later I am STILL having the side effects... the burning / tingling sensation all over my head. The only way I can really describe the way this feels is imagine having a sunburn on the top of your head and then it being pricked with pins and needles. Yeah, everyday... it's terrible. I have been to several doctors and they do not know whats going on.

First, understand that side effects are a very individual thing -- those inserts list every side effect reported largely by hospitals (psychiatrists usually don't care enough to report anything and they have no supervision at all nor do they work with anyone else who might prove a check on their incompetence) that the FDA would require to be reported, but it doesn't mean any particular individual is going to get them. I am currently waiting on my second lap surgery for my Endo and my doctor has decided to start me on Lupron. I have a lot of worries about this medication but he assures me it will help with the pain. Can anyone that's been on Lupron let me know what you thought of it, and what side effects you experienced/how you dealt with them? Thanks!

My body adjusted to the side effects over time. But what it also did was prevent my body from sweating, and I still feel cold all the time. Also side effects from the medications. I didn't lose any weight unfortunately, I was kinda hoping for one good perk out of dealing with all the tingling. sometimes the sensation was so strong it was painful.

)I was only on it for 10 days, but had terrible side effects. Since stopping the MEDs. the side effects are crazy! I was recently put on topamax not 4 weight loss but i was told a side effect is weight loss(personally i am against taking diet pills for myself) i was wondering if anyone has any knowledge or xperience with this med?

I am on topamax now and some side effects are hard to deal with. my dr is decreasing my dosage. my side effects are that my arms and legs are numb and tingling like pins and needles and I am very tired I have diahreea alot. you have to stay in contact with your doc while on the medication.

The dose should be slowly increased to avoid side effects that will make you stop taking it before you reach a therapeutic level and know whether or not it works for you. Topamax did nothing for my pain and I was one of the few people who had one of the more bizarre side effects. I first noticed my hands and feet going numb. With the next increase my face went numb and my tongue felt like a block of dried wood. It can also interfere with taste in some people.

The cognitive side effects also went away after a couple of months. After about 3 months on Topamax and getting to my maximum dose, I was getting minor headaches and virtually no side effects. The best thing about Topamax as opposed to other migraine drugs is that it doesn't make you gain weight. Topamax gave me my life back.

I would ask for an alternative medicine. Topamax causes hair loss which I have experienced first hand. I found out that that is one of the main side effects and wish I hadn't taken it. I would look on the internet for medications that treat migraines and look at all of the side effects. I have found I have to be proactive and do my research and ask the doctor about a specific medication.

I was taking it .. cannot handle the side effects. While the taste thing is horrid, its the "slowness" of my brain that I can't deal with. I had the same problem with Neurontin .. makes me feel like my synapses are on slow motion.

Topamax has a few side effects that are not the greatest (makes me a little tired, reduces my sex drive, thinning hair, very expensive) but for it to HELP tame the beast inside me its been worth it. Are there any long term side effects I should be aware of? I have tried to go down in dose but my cravings and desire to purge comes back.

hi julianna i started topa 2 yrs ago and am now on 300 mg a day for my migrains the beginng was ell lots of side effects one h/a shaking nausea best of all weighttloss they all did go away you just have to wait it out it is worth it it is a cause for stones drink plenty of water and also taper off if yoy deceide to stop other wise you will hve very bad side effects.
