Topamax side effects menstrual cycle

Common Questions and Answers about Topamax side effects menstrual cycle

topamax

Avatar m tn Has anybody had abnormal menstrual cycle while taking tompirimate (topamax) I am very worried that there may be something else wrong with me. Sorry to be graphic but I've had a very lightened flow, with dark brown blood and the beginning and the end. I read somewhere that depression can do this to your period and as depression is one of the side effects of this drug is it possible that this is a casual link? Or does this sound more like implantation spotting to you?
Avatar f tn It is not time for my menstrual cycle nor have I overexerted myself with physical labor. I have sharp stabbing pains from time to time in my stomach and my spine aches. I urinate frequently and they are clear for the most part and without pain or odor. I have Hoshimoto's Thyroiditis and take Levothyroxin, Topomax for migraines and birth control for irregular menses. I do not take any supplements because of the palpitations from the levo.
Avatar f tn I just want a little clarification. I've had the Nexplanon implant for about...3 months now. I've done my research and read all of the side effects. I haven't had a menstrual cycle since the implant, I have also taken a pregnancy test and came out negative. I know this is mentioned on a lot of side effect lists but I just want to make sure there's nothing I should rush to a doctor to get checked out.
Avatar f tn I am on my 2nd week of Topamax. Get ready for some very strange side effects. Your hands and feet and face will tingle and fall asleep. I have no appetite at all. I can go from breakfast to dinner of the next day and not be hungry at all. I have to force myself to eat. I'm forgetting things. I went to Wal Mart and forgot what i went there for. I am on it for migranes so im hoping i can stick it out because my headaches are unbearable. Good luck!
1888842 tn?1320993159 I've been suffereing from migraines since I was 17, and i'm 26 now. I've been to several doctors (locally) and even made a trip to massachusetts to see a neurologist. I've taken every anti depressant under the tuscan sun, and have had no luck.Over the past 3 years my migraines have become a daily routine. My most recent DR. has perscribed me 200mg of topamax, and although I have had some relief, the side effects have made me completely out of it, and almost dead feeling.
Avatar f tn I'm back with another question :-). DS is 11.5 yo, recently diagnosed. He was put on topamax and imitrex for migraines which are supposedly unrelated and are what sent us to the neurologist in the first place. Migraines continue, some tingling in hands and feet, which is likely the topamax. However, today he had a migraine (been on topamax just over three weeks). Once it wore off I took him to school.
Avatar n tn Hello, Topamax can cause itching and erythematous rash in some individuals.Although the main side effects of topamax are slower reflexes, trouble thinking or concentrating, tiredness, poor coordination, and dizziness, yet it has shown itchy skin in some individuals. I feel that if you are showing any allergic reaction to topamax, pls stop taking it and consult your doctor for a change in prescription. You can take over the counter antihistaminic like benadryl or Claritin for itching.
Avatar f tn Okay...so I was diagnosed with anemia in November, and my doctor put me on Feosol(ferrous sulfate) in December. I haven't gotten a menstrual cycle since probably 2 weeks before Christmas. Does the feosol or sulfate supplement counteract cycles and cause them to stop?
Avatar f tn The cognitive side effects also went away after a couple of months. After about 3 months on Topamax and getting to my maximum dose, I was getting minor headaches and virtually no side effects. The best thing about Topamax as opposed to other migraine drugs is that it doesn't make you gain weight. Topamax gave me my life back.
Avatar f tn I am on topamax now and some side effects are hard to deal with. my dr is decreasing my dosage. my side effects are that my arms and legs are numb and tingling like pins and needles and I am very tired I have diahreea alot. you have to stay in contact with your doc while on the medication.
Avatar n tn Most of the side effects are dose related. Here is more information about the medication: http://www.drugs.com/topamax.html . Sometimes, dividing the dose into several doses throughout the day may help. Also taking the smallest dose you can take is best to avoid the side effects. Initially, many people have side effects, but after your body gets used to the med. it goes away (usually after a week or 2).
Avatar f tn I went about 6 months without a cycle but now am in the 5th week of a menstrual cycle. I am TIRED of it and ready for it to end but no end in sight!!! Anything I can do or just tough it out knowing the end is near?? I am taking vitamins and trying to eat right but not really exercising, just don't really feel like it.
Avatar n tn Please google Topamax side effects or Topamax reviews and you will see many people with a lot of the same symptoms as you. Good luck to you and God Bless.
Avatar f tn The bleeding is from the plan B pill. Side effects from the pill are what seem to be pregnancy signs but really are not. Just treat the bleeding g like a normal menstrual cycle. If it doesn't end in 7 days talk to your doctor. You may experience nauseous and vomiting and headaches. It ***** but you'll be fine nothing to worry about. You obviously can get pregnant at anytime even after your menstrual cycle, heck women can get pregnant while they're pregnant. Is it rare?
Avatar f tn I finally gave in and went on Topamax. The migraines stopped. I did have side effects and had to stop it. I had kidney stones, twitching, tingling, cognitive function difficulties, and weight loss. I am 5'8 and I lost down to 120 lbs. For me, that was too thin. However, since I stopped the Topamax in February I have gained all the weight I lost and then some. I'm also on Nortriptyline. It is an older antidepressant.
959034 tn?1253671476 Is it working? Does it make you sleepy? Side effects? How much do you take? Do you like it? Was it the first one you tried? Did you have to try many to find one that you liked?
Avatar f tn I guess I could call that my menstrual cycle .. well today is Thursday and if I go by the pill cycle I should have started Tuesday so do I go by when I started bleeding after going on BC or do I go by my pills ? I don't want to get my hopes up so thanks!!!
949477 tn?1247796031 the effects on cravings are caused partially by taking it at a very high dose, which is the case with Suboxone. I have not seen effects on the menstrual cycle beyond cases like yours, where you never know for certain which med is at fault, or if none are, and instead the person has a hormonal imbalance of some sort. I recommend you ask your GYN to work it up, and try to keep the doc from blaming the Suboxone.
Avatar m tn After much research it seems my only options are do nothing or surgery. My Neurologist has had me try topamax in the past but the side effects were horrifying. She now wants me to try Diamox. Any relief with this drug?? I am so afraid of taking any other drugs after the topamax. Side effects or any info would be much appreciated. I will meet with a NS next week to discuss the surgery. I fear the surgery will be too much for my family as I have 2 young children.
