Avatar f tn I had an ultrasound ordered by my endocrinologist and we found 8 nodules on my left thyroid and 3 of them big the biggest size is 2.19 X 2.80 X 2.13 with calcifications. on my left thyroid there are 6 nodules, 2 of them big and the biggest size is 1.81 X1.66 X1.44 cm. My doctor asked me to do an ultrasound with guided biopsy. I have 14 nodules and the pathologist got a sample on the biggest nodules on my right thyroid lobe. the results we benign.
Avatar f tn IMPRESSION Multiple nodules in an enlarged thyroid gland. This would be in keeping with multinodular goiter. Correlation with thyroid function studies and/or nuclear scintigraphy is recommended. My TSH was on the lower end of the range but is not below so the doctor says not to worry about the TSH results.Just to have it checked every 6 months. But that was before they found the nodules. Not sure what to do since I no longer have insurance. Please help.
Avatar f tn Many of us have nodules on our thyroid and they cause no harm. Nodules are common with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis - do you know if your doctor tested you for that? Once you get started on thyroid medication, some of your discomfort should go away. Without knowing what labs were done, and the test results, it's hard for us to comment fully. When you get the results, please post them here, along with the reference ranges, which vary from lab to lab, so must come from your own report.
Avatar m tn Both the thyroid lobes are enlarged and studded with multiple nodules and diffuse heterogenous pattern. Bilateral multinodular goitre noted." Please let me know whether these nodules are nonmalignant or malignant. Whether further test like thoroid scan is required. Avatar n tn Thank you so much for ressponding. I've been refreshing for an hour, lol! So, if I understand correctly, if my next blood test is the same regarding TPO an TG, it's not Hashi's? Is it possible that this is just thyroiditis? Am I getting the right treatment (no FNA, only Inderal and repeat blood tests next month)? The RAI Scan was normal, as it was 31% on a scale of 6 to 35% being "Normal Range", and found no masses.
Avatar n tn ve been diagnosed with primary hyperparathyroidism, multiple nodules on the thyroid with at least 6 being over 1.6 cm. They have biopsied 2 of the of the nodules. The findings were benign. My CT Scan revealed multiple enlarged lymph nodes. I have hoarseness and I have to constantly clear my throat, most recently i'm experiencing some breathing difficulty. My doctor has suggested to remove the parathyroid tumor and a few lymph nodes and to keep a watchful eye on the nodules.
Avatar f tn I had a utlrasound done, the results were multiple nodules of cystic and solid components. 8 nodules on both lobes. largest nodules measure 9.7 x 13.7 x 8mm have a few that size. Not sure what this really means.
Avatar n tn This is quite a large thyroid with multiple nodules. This may be due to longstanding hashimoto's but likely biopsy will be needed and given the size, possible surgery. Would see an endocrinologist and/or ENT who specializes in thyroid. Also test thyroid function to make sure the symptoms are not due to thyroid levels being abnormal.
Avatar f tn There are multiple thyroid nodules. On the right, there are two nodules, one measuring 5 by 7 by 7 mm, which is posterior inferior and relatively hypoechoic with a 6 by 4 by 3 mm echogenic nodule in the midpole. On the left, there are two large nodules, in the midpole an 18 by 13 by 27 mm mixed cystic and solid nodule with an internal vascularity and in the lower pole a 17 by 13 by 16 mm nodule again with internal vascularity. A third midpole measures 11mm.
Avatar f tn I just recently found out that I have multiple noduleson my thyroid. The largest one on the right side measuring 4x4mm, they said that the tissue around this particular nodule is deteriorating. I havecyst and other nodules on left side. The biopsy can back benign but my doctor feels that it can turn into cancer cause of me having multiple. Plus they believe I have MS, with hyperintensity showing in brain.
1153642 tn?1266253989 The report tells me that there are multiple, less than 5 mm, cystic nodules throughout both thyroid nodules. The thyroid gland is mildly enlarged. I was put on Synthroid, 125 mcg. I did not have a biopsy although I'm not sure why. I have had symptoms of low thyroid for a few years now, but I attributed them to perimenopause. My periods were coming every 3 weeks instead of 4, I was tired all the time, I couldn't get things done.
Avatar m tn Tests results showed multiple tiny nodules on the thyroid and a completely dysfunctional gallbladder. She was immediately admitted into the hospital and her gallbladder was removed and the organ had completely twisted into itself with infection. She is now in recovery and as soon as she is strong enough, she will have to undergo a thyroid biopsy or partial/complete removal. More surgery. She is also an asthma sufferer and carries inhalers and has most of her life.
529384 tn?1228870399 Diffusely heterogeneous thyroid with multiple small nodules. Differential diagnosis includes adenomatous nodules. As usual, thyroid malignancy cannot be excluded sonographically." I'm a 47 year-old female. My mom had thyroid cancer when she was 31, had her thyroid removed, took thyroid medication the rest of her life. I can't see an endocrinologist for 5 weeks because I'm a new patient. I've called around but no luck.
1682587 tn?1305051668 Thyroid nodules can be funny things... multiple nodules is usually a good indication that they aren't cancerous. Have the FNA, see what they say, better to be safe than sorry. Not a very comfortable procedure but as I said, better to be safe than sorry. Good luck with the procedure and try and keep positive.
Avatar f tn I'm brand new on Med Help. In fact, this is my first post. You should get some help from some older group members more familiar with this forum. What I can tell you is that I have COPD and Sarcoidosis. When I had a CT Scan and then a PET Scan done, that was when the Pulmonary doctor found nodules on my lungs. They did 2 needle biospys on the nodules. That is how they discovered that I had Sarcoidosis. Although, I certainly didn't want another disease to deal with besides COPD...
Avatar n tn 4 cm and has a heterogenous echotexture. There are multiple cystic nodules seen in the middle and lower portions of the right thyroid gland containing inspissated colloid material, the largest of these measures 4mm. The isthmus measures 3mm in thickness. The left lobeof the thyroid gland measures 4.1x1.2x2.0 cm and contains multiple cystic nodules, which a group of cystic nodules are seen aggregated in the lower portion of the left lobe. The largest discrete nodule measures 5mm.
Avatar f tn ve had a lot x-rays and I have multiple thyroid nodules, with no changes... It is, however, recommended that thyroidal radiation be kept to a minimum; a thyroid shield can be used to prevent exposure of the thyroid to radiation. There's no need to postpone your dental work... Ask for a shield when you have the x-rays done.
425199 tn?1313068997 My mother's doctor recently discovered nodules on her thyroid. She went for an ultrasound in May, and here are the findings: "Indication: Dysphasia Overall thyroid gland is normal in size. In the mid left thyroid lobe there is a 6 x 5 x 4 mm nodule which is hypoechoic with respect to the appearance of the surrounding normal thyroid tissue. This is a dominant nodule.
Avatar f tn very large thyroid gland with bilateral extremity (I think they meant extreemly) large solid mass densities. With solid mass of this size, biopsy may be necessary to exclued any possibility of malignancy. Correlation with 2 and 24 hour radioactive iodine 123 uptake and nuclear medicine scanning recomended as well as correlation with TSH." The nuclear medicine scan says most if not all are cold nodules. I didn't have the presence of mind to copy down that results sheet.
Avatar n tn I had multiple nodules that were my bigger in size. I think that You need to listen to your body and how you feel. I decided not to have biopsy because with multiple nodules it is very difficult procedures and results can be inconclusive at best. My endo and surgeon decided to remove my thyroid completely based on my ultrasound and CT. thankfully all nodules were benign. and it is correct that most of the multiple nodules are benign.
Avatar n tn I have multiple nodules, biopsy came back benign ,but surgeon wants to do a partial removal of the thyroid. I was reading about laser removal of the nodules, but Spokane wa doesn't have any. Does Wa. state have any ent doctors that use laser to remove nodules. I have never had general surgery, it scares me. I was told there is no rush to have the surgery.
Avatar n tn Your nodule has to be at least 1-1.cm for biopsy. Did they tell you that 50% of the population has thyroid nodules? They are quite common. Have you had a thyroid panel done,or been tested for thyroid antibodies. We can better help you with those numbers.
Avatar f tn Help. I have been experienceing problems with an enlargement of my left thyroid. I have started a work-up with a family practice, but have questions. I am a veterinarian, so i have done alot of research on my own and am trying to make this process quick and efficient. I have had extreme fatigue, swelling hands and feet, dry skin and brittle hair for approx 3-4 months. I have gained 28 lbs in 3 months also. I am experiencing difficulty swallowing and gagging/choking on food.
Avatar n tn thyroid gland normal in size. 6 small hypoechoic nodules, 3 in right lobe and 3 in left lobe, the biggest was 3.6x3.4x1.9 mm. No abnormal vascularity and no evidence of any cervical lymphnodes seen. - I repeated the ultrasound a week ago and my thyroid got bigger (right lobe 51x17x15 mm, left lobe 51.8x15.7x15.2 mm, isthmus 4 mm) Both lobes show hypoechoic nodules (10 overall - 4 in right lobe and 6 in left lobe). The biggest nodule now is 6,5x3,9 mm.
Avatar f tn Various thyroid nodules with appearance of follicular cysts. Most unusual mass in the left thyroid lobe occupying most of its volume". Uptake rpt "24 hour uptake 27.9% (within normal range) Uptake 11.6 % & measured at 16.7 % in left lobe. Static images show multiple areas of defect. Ultrasnd shows multiple bilateral nodules. Static images show a focal area of decreased activity in mid left lobe corresponding to large mass seen in this area on ultrasnd.
