It is important to have DHEA in the right range to help with testosterone, also pregnenolone, zinc, selenium etc. I've ordered my nettle root powder from a website "supermanherbs.
Avatar f tn I read a lot of articles online that women with high antibodies have a lot of risk of miscarriage etc plus those women need to start therapy before pregnancy. especially when my doctor knows that me and my husband are trying to have a baby.. Avatar n tn My question is, now I am experiencing some other things that I have read could be the early warning signs of an impending heart attack in women, they are - spasmodic dry cough (comes out of the blue, sometimes 12 x day, others 2 x day), and I am suffering from very interrupted sleep. I am waking up almost every hour on the hour every night for the past week or so. I also suffer from extreme bouts of fatigue (not always in conjuction with lack of sleep).

In high enough doses, progesterone can put you to sleep. At the same time, lower blood sugar levels, lower blood pressure and increased blood production may team up to sap your energy. Slight bleeding or cramping For some women, a small amount of spotting or vaginal bleeding is one of the first symptoms of pregnancy.
Avatar n tn Signs of PCOS Multiple ovarian cysts Irregular or absent menses Infertility Acne Obesity or inability to lose weight Excessive body or facial hair (hirsutism) Insulin resistance and possibly diabetes Thinning of scalp hair Velvety, hyperpigmented skin folds (acanthosis nigricans) High blood pressure Polycystic ovaries that are 2-5 times larger than healthy ovaries.
Avatar n tn I had an initial treatment with radioactive iodiine and yearly scans since, with nary a sign of a thyroid cell anywhere. My doc has kept me on 175 mcg (I weigh 165 lbs., 57 y.o.) of Unithroid and has kept my TSH <.05 throughout. My 1/29/08 Free T4 was 2.1. My lab numbers (TSH, free T4) have been rock solid. Over the past year I have noticed very uncharacteristic signs of anxiety and insomnia. I keep mentioning this to my endo but he ignores it.

Avatar f tn I had to look up what adrenal fatigue is, seems I have many of the symptoms. One other thing, my Graves Disease elevated to TED (thyroid eye disease) which the treatment was to suppress my immune system with 500mg IV of steroids(30 minute drip) for three days in a row then ramp down over a course of a month.. I did this for 3 months in a row. Wondering if that could have had an effect on the other hormones? Though the hair loss was happening, it was nothing like it is now.
Avatar f tn Also it is important to look at the ranges. Many of us tend to perform a little better when our levels are in the top third of the ranges that the labs use.
611475 tn?1221240855 The high TSH [low thyroid can be attributed to painless postpartum thyroiditis. The article below gives detailed desccription:from readers. "Postpartum thyroiditis is a painless inflammation of the thyroid gland that can occur in the mother usually four to 12 months after childbirth. The cause of this uncommon condition isn't known. You may be at increased risk of postpartum thyroiditis if you have an immune system disorder or a prior history of thyroiditis.
Avatar n tn Thyroid nodules are often benign, but sometimes can be cancerous, so it might be a good idea to get a thyroid ultrasound. I was told by my ENT that 30% of women in their thirties have nodules, 40% of women in their 40s, 50% of women in their 50s, etc. have nodules, and the vast majority of those are not thyroid cancer, so even if they find nodules on your ultrasound, it does not mean thyroid cancer. So...
1081864 tn?1257519948 Another good medication is Spironolactone--this must be used with the birth control pill (it can cause birth defects) and works by blocking the action of testosterone. This combination of medications will get rid of most of your symptoms ( irregular periods, hair growth, acne, ovarian cysts). But obviously are not going to help you get pregnant if you are going for a girl! You might want to see a good endocrinologist in addition to your gynecologist. Good luck!
Avatar f tn ve had no prior history of hormone imbalances, PCOS, etc. No increase in growth of body or facial hair. My IgG and IgA have been low for approximately 3 months consistently. My cortisol was high as of 2 months ago but hasn't been retested. The last month or so the fatigue has increasingly gotten worse to the point its hard to get out of bed and function properly. I've also been having issues with gaining weight and chronic UTI's.
Avatar n tn TSH relates to whether a person is hypo or hyper-thyroid and is the determing factor. High level is hypo - low level is hyper. Your level is high. A total or Free T-4 (F/T-4) tells whether the thyroid is preforming properly Low level is hypo - high level is hyper Your level is low. There was no Total or Free T-3 done. T4 and Uptake confirms, in your case both being low, confirms the TSH level as hypothyroidism. However, T3 Uptake does not measure the level of T3 or T4 in serum.
Avatar m tn I tested with a TSH of 6 and was given Synthroid 25 mg by my doc. I'd like to hear if anyone else had a similar TSH, what their symptoms were and how the meds worked. I ask because of the confusion of what "high" TSH really is. It makes me doubt that my joint pain and tiredness is due to thyroid.
Avatar n tn i also have hypothyroidism factor 5 leiden im epileptic have fibero low blood pressure a swelling disorder and many other things i wasn't suppose to have kids
Avatar m tn I read the article. It says that women who took thyroid meds during early pregnancy were 5 x more likely to have lesbian daughter than women who didn't take thyroid meds. It also said that women who took ampetamine type slimming pills during early pregnancy were 8x more likely to have lesbian daughters than women who didn't take these pills.
Avatar n tn I have been taking topamax for migraines for about a year now and have just found a soft bump, about an inch in size, to the right of my thyroid. Do you think that would be a thyroid condition? I do have an anxiety problem as well and I am afraid to have it looked at.
Avatar m tn For instance KI used to protect against high doses of I131 which “melts” the thyroid tissue and resulting in severe hypothyroidism, it DOES NOT protect from chronic (months or years) low dose exposure to this isotope and DOES not prvent the cancer!! One year ago I read in my chemistry book that iodine poorly dissolves in water but dissolves very easy in milk, alcohol or aqueous KI solution.
Avatar f tn Sub-clinical hypothyroidism Doctors are often faced with the dilemma of a patient with a normal serum free T4 and a raised TSH level but who does not have symptoms or signs of hypothyroidism.2 Such patients have sub-clinical hypothyroidism and they require follow-up. When an isolated raised TSH level is found, TSH testing should be repeated, along with a serum free T4 measurement. Measurement of microsomal (thyroid peroxidase) antibodies should also be carried out.
Avatar f tn The disease typically progresses slowly over a number of years and causes chronic thyroid damage, leading to a drop in thyroid hormone levels in your blood. The signs and symptoms are mainly those of an underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism). The signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism vary widely, depending on the severity of hormone deficiency. At first, you may barely notice any symptoms, such as fatigue and sluggishness, or you may simply attribute them to getting older.
Avatar n tn I had hyper symptoms- extreme insomnia and anxiety when my TSH went from 3.5-4.7 (too high anyway) to 5.96. Most doctors said I was fine- thyroid wise. I was rx'd antidepressant and sleep meds instead of thyroid meds! I took myself to an endo and was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism due to the elevated TSH and positive thyroid antibodies. Those symptoms went away as my TSH dropped below 2 for the first time that I know of. I also agree with Peggy and AR above.
