Avatar n tn I was informed at ENT that this may last 6 months to a year and to repeat the movements that cause the vertigo. I have been doing such but the vertigo still awakens me at night and I have several spells thoughout the day. I take antivert for symptoms but am regularly taking estrogen, pepsid and other gerd medications. Anyone have experience with vertigo lasting months? however mild, this still is quite bothersome.
3839438 tn?1348612583 I have had vertigo for 25 days and counting. I was prescribed amoxicillin and have been on it for 2 days, the vertigo has worsened dramatically. I can barely walk. Is this normal or should I be worried?
Avatar m tn There are multiple possible causes for vertigo, but yes, there can be a thyroid connection. Do you have any other symptoms that could be related to being hypothyroid? What thyroid med are you taking and what is the dosage? Please post your thyroid related test results and their reference ranges shown on the lab report so that members can assess the adequacy of your testing and treatment.
Avatar n tn I have a low B-12 level and must take an injection once a month. In the last year, I have suffered 2 bouts of vertigo. The last worse than the first. What is the connection if any between the 3 conditions. My local Dr. says nothing. I haven't seen my thyroid Dr. since January and since he is 2 1/2 hours away can't ask him. I had an appointment but the vertigo flare up caused me to cancel as I was too ill to make the trip. Now, I can't see him until the end of October.
Avatar f tn Vertigo is referred to as a severe sensation of the person, or room and surroundings spinning. Acute vertigo i.e. sudden onset of continuous vertigo is often quite severe and alarming to the person with MS. The illusion of motion is very powerful and unnerving and can sometimes lead to nausea and vomiting. It is often made worse by inclining the head a particular way or by lying down.
Avatar f tn Again with no free T3 lab to look at - no one can no for sure. Many desiccated thyroid patients develop vertigo with increases and that can sometimes subside within two weeks after taking the increase in medication. Have you given the increase a while ( 2 weeks) to see if this vertigo continues? The other symptoms of hot flashes could also be associated with the increase and decrease of meds and not allowing the body to adjust to the hormone. On your thought with switching your meds....
87651 tn?1259602403 I had severe vertigo which landed me in the hosp. an extra day after my thyroid surgery .. it was just awful .. so bad I couldn't get up to use the restroom but the ins. co wanted to send me home ? Anyway, hosp. fought it and I stayed the extra night but the vertigo was awful with nausea and lasted 48hrs severely and then eazed off and was gone after 10days.. My cause they "say' was from being put out .. the meds and being older ... I often really wonder, though?
Avatar f tn i had sudden-onset vertigo on 11 mar 2010 that has not gone away; i also have thyroid nodules but my thyroid levels are normal; and my sodium level and potassium level have been abnormal at different times. my ear specialist has determined that the balance system on my right side is 80% degraded, but no one has provided a cure so that I no longer experience vertigo, nausea and fatigue. any insights that could help?
Avatar n tn Vertigo is unrelated to the thyroid in this case (normal TSH). A scan would be of little help -- the nodule is small at 5mm (1/5 of an inch) and should be monitored with repeat ultrasound in 4-6 months. There does not seem to be a significant thyroid enlargement or nodule to explain neck-throat symptoms.
Avatar m tn s Pulse test (takes a week to test anything ingested during that week-free download), -Thyroid function testing. Low thyroid function is often associated with most of your symptoms,Vertigo, Tinnitus, Dizziness, Dry mouth, Inability to concentrate, Rheumatoid arthritis, Gastrointestinal issues, Premature or delayed menopause... (not standard serum T3, T4 & TSH thyoid tests, but Free T3, Free T4 & reverse T3 which would more accurately reveal thyroid function).
Avatar f tn I had vertigo when i was HYPO and needed an increase.. I have also had vertigo at its worst when i had an attack of thyroiditis after i had my son.. I was hyper thyroid but actually hashimotos hypothyroid.. What happened was my thyroid had nodules and was causing me to go hyper/hypo on any given day and time due to my thyroid producing in addition to my medication... I found no relief of this other than time.. I know that sounds crazy and is completely unsatisfying to hear..
Avatar m tn Hi! Well... Vertigo as I have had it for several years vefore all this thyroid mess happens for many reasons. The change in climate, having a cold or flu, or just that those tiny crystals in your ears are all over the place. I can sympathize bc I have been where you are many times! I am too on Armour and it has actually gotten better. Not because of the Armour, but because I am leveling out. You might be hypo/hyper.
Avatar n tn lasted 5 days thank GOD I keep my Bonine by my bed now. I am in my early 50s anyones dr tell them Thyroid /vertigo relationship is real? Thanks!
Avatar n tn There can be other causes for those symptoms, but muscle and joint pain is common to thyroid problems. Vertigo is not a common symptom, and many doctors would not associate it with a thyroid condition, but there are several members here that can verify that they have vertigo when their thyroid hormone levels are off. You need to get a TSH, Free T4, and Free T3 all run from the same blood draw. Figure out if your hormones are low or not.
Avatar n tn However, of late, my vertigo is changing from occasional positional vertigo (worse when laying down) to vertigo that is relatively mild but constant 24/7 vertigo that makes me feel like I'm rocking on a boat or falling over. It is worse when sitting still and improves when I get up and walk around. The way my vertigo is now, it is generally not made worse by position changes, it is made worse by sitting still. Can anyone say what this may be? Do I need a new MRI?
Avatar n tn Most thyroid patients do not have vertigo, but there may be a connection. Would replace B12 (and ask about pernicious anemia as cause of low B12) and treat the Graves to get the levels back in the normal range.
Avatar f tn It's exactly one year since i had vertigo which is very commonly known here in Japan as a symptom of Meniere's w/ tinnitus and hearing difficulty. Had several outpatient i.v. for nausea relief for on and off attacks until i had to be confined for 3 days each time.Hopeless and depressed, gone to Phil for 2nd opinion, and indeed after labs showed low thyroid hormones.
Avatar f tn You need to get examined to rule out a few things such as low blood pressure, postural hypotension (fall in blood pressure, cervical spinal nerve compression, hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), severe anemia, an underactive thyroid (called hypothyroidism), overactive thyroid (called hyperthyroidism), adrenal insufficiency (called Addison's disease), GERD or gastric reflux, and internal ear infections. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!
427784 tn?1224969522 Yesterday at my doctors appointment to review recent thyroid hormones blood levels my vertigo was so bad I was terrified, my BP shot up to 160/103. I know this has been a real stress on my system. Can Primary hyperparathyroidism cause dizzyness and erratic blood pressure?
Avatar f tn I've been on levothyroxine for 4 months at 25 mcg. Still symptomatic so my endo upped it to 50 mcg. I feel as though I have more energy, however, I've been getting vertigo especially getting up in the morning or standing up quickly. This could be completely unrelated to the med, however I've never experienced this before the increase. Is this just my body adjusting to the increased dosage? If it persists I will call my doc.
