Avatar n tn It sounds Hypo , But It could be doing this thing called waxing and waning... meaning sometimes it is normal and sometimes it is out of whack. Since Thyroid is an auto immune it can very , esp when your body is under stres or if you are fighting any other sickness/illness. It also could be Hashimotos.... Antibodies could be present on a tuesday..and attack you thyroid then on the next tuesday there be no sign of them..then 3 weeks later they appear....What is you Dr saying?
Avatar f tn The nurse just called and said it was elevated and they were concerned about my thyroid. I had my thyroid US yesterday and it went from 15mm to 1 1/2 inches. I am also having strange earache like symptoms on left side. So maybe my thyroid is pressing against some nerve??? What a puzzle!! I see my doctor today at 2 and can finally make more sense out of my symptoms. Oh, they also said my white blood count was not elevated. I will be sure to post my news today.
624083 tn?1369314263 I recently had my TSH tested and it was 4.1 is that normal??? I'm going today for more testing they are testing me for TSH, Free t3, free t4 what does that all mean? I'm starting to feel alittle better, I'm not getting so restless and feeling so down, I was getting heart palpations very bad as to where it was sending me to the hospital because my heart rate would get up to 158....!!!!!
460185 tn?1326077772 This has likely been asked numerous times before but what are the signs of hypothyroidism? Is it possible that tests might not reveal it? My hair has been coming out for quite awhile now and there are times when I feel extremely cold but there are also times when I feel extremely hot. I find that I get tired easily and am effected by the weather. In March, I had a heart attack but also wonder if having a thyroid problem might be part of why I feel so tired and "out of it".
Avatar n tn Im 30 years old and been taking oxycodone 30mg since sept 07 after a motorcycle accsident and am trying to stop taking them I take between 18 and 24 a day and have nodesire to take these any more have buprenorphine 8 mg that i got from a friend and just looking for the best way 2 take them with being the least uncomfortable. i tried today by not taking any when i got up but by 12:30 I had no choice.
Avatar f tn ) 8th- Yes but would have anyway since have hashi Great questions, hope all of our answers help you. Definitely get a surgeon who does lots and lots of thyroidectomies and hopefully not at a teaching hopsital since a resident might do the surgery not the dr. you thought would do it. My scar faded greatly most people don't even notice it now.
Avatar n tn He than did a 2 day nuclear iodine test which came back that my thyroid was not making any hormone but was just releasing a large amount of thyroid hormone. He said I had thyroiditis and we would redo blood work and an ultrasound in July. He also said that normally thyroiditis is not reoccurring and he would be surprised if I had had it 8 years. I'm so confused, this just doesn't sound right to me, how can my thyroid be releasing so much hormone but not making any?
200251 tn?1245989901 If thyroid abnormality is suspected the ultrasound can give definite answers about thyroid, parathyroid and lymph node condition in the neck region. According to the 10 years old article, 50 % of the people with thyroid abnormalities have NORMAL hormonal level. If thyroid inflammation took place in the past, the scar tissue may form in these areas, which can cause 'compressive effects'.
Avatar f tn If due to symptoms, please tell us about those. Were other thyroid tests, such as Free T4 and Free T3 done? Are you on thyroid med?
Avatar n tn There is more of a chance to be or become thyroid than the average population if someone in the family has/had thyroid. If this is the case, and not thyroid yet, a person should be checked on a regular bases because a person might turn thyroid in the future. However, it's no guarantee which one. All my family is hypothyroid and I am Hyper/Graves' - the only one in a few generations that we know of.
Avatar f tn In many cases, having an enlarged thyroid gland (goiter) doesn't mean your thyroid gland is malfunctioning. And adipose (fat) tissue within the thyroid gland is stated to be uncommon to rare. Do you have your lab results?
362387 tn?1207274119 I think he may be a poop head if he thinks the lymph nodes are inside the thyroid--the thyroid may be enlarged and near a group of lymph nodes. Or maybe I'm the poop head because I've never heard of it. Sorry your exam didn't go so well today--I laughed about your fit--and his--so true!!
Avatar n tn Well now... To me there are two sides of the story. on one hand, so many patients go into the doctors office and just "generalized" there issues - so in respect to the doctor, when they see dozens of patients just complaining, then they could be lost too.... right? For example - Going in and saying " I feel awful." and then asked by them "what's wrong?" and they get a reply like "Oh, just odd - or off - just sick.
Avatar f tn My Endo says my thyroid is sputtering, and although treated on Synthroid, some of my symptoms come and go and some remain. She says when it stops sputtering my symptoms will abate. I can't find any research on this. Is this true? How long is the sputtering phase of Hashimoto's? Will the symptoms truly go away? I understand that some woman can get pregnant with Hashimoto's if they are treated. Is this always the case?
Avatar f tn I need to get answers to a few questions for a research project on Thyroid Disease (prefferably from an expert or doctor)...I would be seriously grateful if these questions could be answered.. 1. What is the most common cause of Thyroidism? 2. Do you think there are enough effective treatments? 3. I understand Thyroidism is more common in women but at what age are they likely to develop it and is there any common cause for it happening at that age? 4. Do you think homeopthic remedies work? 5.
Avatar f tn , and will answer here. Stopping thyroid (and/or the parlodel) medication all of a sudden without treating the original cause (or looking for the original cause and then treating it) is likely to have a patient's lab numbers go out of wack again, and perhaps getting symptoms again (including: trouble getting pregnant; miscairrage; and lowered IQ in a newborn child).
5676461 tn?1372187397 Along the way to destruction, the output of thyroid hormone is diminished and has to be replaced with increasing dosages of thyroid meds. In addition, with Hashi's, nodules sometimes will form on the thyroid and leak hormone faster than normal. This results in cycles of hyper and hypo and so on. This seems consistent with your descriptions since March and the low TSH.
Avatar f tn Hope this helps. I ask most of my questions on the thyroid diseaase chat center. You can do a search and come and ask your questions. I have gotten really good answers there.
1145066 tn?1261367370 I have heard of people have ablation done, but I have not found a doctor to look into my thyroid further. Could that be the cause? and if so, is there another test to prove so other than blood tests? I am terrified of the thought of ablation, but am looking into it because I cannot live like this.
Avatar m tn Have you talked with your doctor about your apprehension? Maybe you could spend a little more time asking questions and getting answers that satisfy you. It sounds like you are hoping to get a reply from Dr. Lupo. He doesn't reply in this members support group. If you want a medical opinion, repost this on Dr. Lupo's board. I think it is titled something like hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer.
616452 tn?1253877644 I am currently pregnant with my 3rd pregnancy. It is my first with Hashimoto's disease. I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and everything so far has been going well. My Thyroid medication has been increased and TSH last reading was 0.6. My concern is can the antibodies that i have cross over the placenta and affect the unborn fetus's thyroid gland.? I understand that mental and growth retardation can be the outcome.

1139187 tn?1355706647 I am a 44 year old male who has literally suffered the last 2 years with very low thyroid and testosterone. My testosterone level is 215 , 230 and the highest it has been was 245. I never thought that my symptoms of absolute fatigue could be from low t. I also have no sex drive despite being mentally. Engaged in thinking about it like a normal guy. My ears ring as well. I had some androgel prescribed to me about 5 months ago and just started taking it about 5 days ago.
