Avatar m tn Can HIV live in nail polish made without formaldehyde, toulene, and dibutyl phthalate? Is the ethly and butyl acetate sufficient to deactivate any blood-borne viruses such as HIV and Hepatitis? Or do the chemicals help preserve the virus? I'm assuming that salons sometimes apply polish on people who had bleeding cuticles, so I'm wondering if any viruses in their blood could survive in the polish and be transferred to others.
Avatar f tn Hi there and welcome. Well, this is definitely a new question I haven't seen before. The likely hood a bit of dried nail polish came off in your vagina isn't high and would be harmless. I mean, hopefully you let the polish dry before getting the urge, right? So, a chip of nail polish wouldn't cause an issue if indeed it landed there.
7610962 tn?1392586341 It ***** because when I do something simple like scratch or anything, the nail bends back and boy does that smarts...I put a clear coat of that protective nail polish on it hoping it can keep the tips of my nails somewhat hard like they should be till it grows out again. This spliting happends maybe every once in a while but now it's often and goes up a little past the middle of my nail instead of the usual mm.
Avatar f tn I usually always have my nails and toenails painted but now I can't reach my toes so I just left them "naked" for now and my mother in law told me today that I need to keep them like that for now anyway bc were not supposed to have our nails OR toes painted when we go to the hospital to have our babies? Why would that be? I mean I understand maybe my nails so I won't get any on my baby if it chips but my toes?
Avatar n tn i will get it translated for you... i work with a polish man...
Avatar f tn I used a cleaning product, Motsen Blockers lift off (green product) along w/ nail polish remover (non accetone) to remove a large spill of nail polish on my carpet. This was in September. Shortly thereafter I began w/ an upper respitoray ailment which lasted the entire month of Oct. I took a mucinex DM because the infection was beggining to affect my ears. since taking the mucinex I have experienced terrible episdoes.
Avatar f tn I just took my BLUE nail polish off and my nails are orange? Wtf lol I don't smoke and it won't come off with nail polish remover. Did blue polish really stain my nails orange or is there something else going on?
328799 tn?1276565732 I guarantee it is from the nail polish, especially if the polish was red/pink and you did not apply 1-2 basecoats of clear polish on first before putting on the color polish. This happened to me when i didn't put on a basecoat and when i took off my red polish. My solution: paint your nails again to cover it up :) it will fade eventually. You most certainly do not have heart disease or at risk of a stroke based solely alone on this. Don't worry. You are fine!

Avatar f tn Then I noticed weight gain, feeling cold, my skin was dry for years I thought that was because I was in memopause. If you google thyroid diet, eliminating certain foods because they cause inflammation and it triggers the immune system to attack the thyroid. Also limiting your exposure to toxins like harsh household cleaners, nail polish removers, pesticides, ect. All the best to you!
Avatar f tn Ok this has happened to me twice n the last 2 years or so... When I wear nail polish longer than say 3 week or so, I go to remove the polish and my 2 big toe nails are most white, looking like they've been scratched up. Does polish really cause this?? I'm afraid to just cover over it with new polish for fear it won't go away. The first time I saw that I did not put any polish on again and it tooks months and months for that to go away.
9574856 tn?1408172071 HOWEVER, I personally have stayed away from painting my nails even though I normally paint them just because I feel uneasy about breathing in the fumes. And I only used nail polish remover once to get my old nasty polish off my toes that had been there since before I found out I was pregnant, and when I did remove the polish I did it quick. But I know there are tons of women who paint their nails when pregnant, I'm just too paranoid so I choose not to.
Avatar f tn Also, since hypothyroid patients are so frequently deficient in Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin, you should get those tested as well. Another thing is to not take your morning dose of thyroid med until after the blood draw, in order to avoid false high results. This is also recommended by the AACE/ATA Guidelines for Hypothyroidism.
7642836 tn?1410611040 This will be my first c section, but for any surgery I have had before (i live in Australia) I have had to remove all nail polish, have clean hair washed the night before and I have had to shower using this soap they give you. So best to check with your hospital!!

Avatar f tn Do any of you ladies know if it's alright to wear nail polish (specifically gel/shellac polish) during labor? I'm due in 5 days and feeling really blah, so I was thinking of treating myself, but don't want to spend the money if they're going to make me take it off when I get to the hospital.
Avatar f tn I've been using nail polish & nail polish remover & kind of inhaled it. I'm 6 months. Can it still cause harm to my baby?
Avatar n tn Plus, if u needed to remove the polish, polish remover wouldn't be something u want to use.
Avatar f tn In my hospital I have to bring nail polish remover and also be wearing easy removable polish incase of emergency c section
Avatar f tn The smell of the polish won't be a problem if you are in a well-ventilated place. Just don't use the kind of polish remover that has toluene, it's a carcinogen. In other words, putting the polish on is not as much of a problem as taking it off.
Avatar f tn I haven't had a regular labor just csections but I was able to wear my glasses and nail polish in the operating room I've never heard of not being able to wear nail polish
