If it is throat cancer, is the prognosis good or bad?

I have a 10 year old female golden retriever and just noticed a very large tumor on her throat, which is right where her thyroid is. The tumor is approximately the size of a lemon and it seems to be attached. I feel horrible that I did not notice it until now but it was hiding under her loose skin and long fur. I have recently noticed her stumbling and choking on her food as well.

It could most probably be tonsillitis and a throat infection. Throat pain, difficulty swallowing, fever, scratchiness in the throat, post nasal drip, malaise and loss of appetite are symptoms of tonsillitis. It can be caused by bacteria like streptococcus or it could be a viral infection. Bacterial infections need antibiotics. Taking the antibiotic for the required amount of days may help to clear the infection. Steam inhalations and salt water gargles can help.

Even though I was stage 1a i still had chemotherapy as was advised 6 treatments of carboplatin and paclitaxol , I was told that as my clear cell was from malignant endometriosis the prognosis is slightly better. They did a videostrobe of my throat last week. The doctor told me today I had throat cancer. My voice is gone. I had a left side carotid endarectomy 2 days before Christmas. All of my symptoms started after the surgery, like the day after, the sore throat was there when I woke up in ICU. I saw my family doctor, the surgeon who did the endarterectomy and an ENT locally, all said my symptoms were due to the endarterectomy. The first ENT I saw did a scope of my throat and said all was well.

i've been experiencing symptoms and i too have general symptoms of throat cancer. i'm in deep stress, cant think etc. Have prayer and stop googling symptoms for it will make it your anxiety worse.

The ADH is not really considered as cancer ... the suspicious lesions of course will be decided by the excisional biopsy. Until then there is no way to know the cause of these lesions. A far as recovery ... it shouldn't be much of a problem. A small incision and of course will be sore and uncomfortable for a week or so .... you will be given specific instructions before surgery as each Surgeon usually has his/her own preferences. i was jus wonder since ive had these for about 7 years now and i ahve no symptoms of lymphoma..none except maybe being tired but i have always been tired since i was a kid..should i be concerned?..how long can you live with lymphoma? by the way.. the lymph nodes that are swollen are in my neck..on is on the left side and its the biggest but its not a inch..one near my collar bone but you wouldnt know it was there unless you felt around and i have a hard time finding it..

I would also check out the possibility of PMR, an autoimmune disease. Many of your symptoms are NOT symptoms. The shoulder, neck and jaw pain , might sweats, joint pains, low grade fever and more are PMR Symptoms. the dr. Can do a couple of blood tests that can give him an idea if this could be the reason for your symptoms. Easily treated with steroid meds.

I would say not to worry about oral hpv, the main reason being the high-risk strains those live on genital areas do not like the oral enviornment and they do not survive well in there... Further, the throat cancer due to hpv is extremely low to rare and hpv is not the major cause of throat cancer but it can be a causitive factor... the tobacco use is the major cause of throat cancer...

I know everyone is different but is there a prognosis for this type of cancer and stage that has undergone these tx's? I just want to know what to expect and can't find any sites that clearly answer this. Any information that you have would be appreciated. And are there alternative tx's?

Three years ago I was diagnosed with late stage ovarian cancer. Half the people diagnosed die every year. I have a subset which does not work with chemo. I have been on chemo for three years. I am now stable. I also have the BRCA mutation which gives me a 90% of triple negative breast cancer which has a short survival time. So I could die from ovarian, die of breast cancer, or end up with progression in MS. I also could beat all three. No one knows.I could make myself crazy thinking about it.

my mother thinks she has throat cancer...i think barretts....since she was little she would always have her stomach acid flow through her throat.....( idon't know if that makes sense, like when she is laying down it flows back into her throat) and so over the years, her throat has suffered from the acid...she also feels pain in her throat...her throat burns everytime she talks and swallows (occasionally). her voice has became rough/scratchy. she also feels a lump in her throat. help me....

My husband has/ had throat cancer. He went through kemo and radiation. He is going to tested Fri. to see if treatment worked. He still has very bad breath. Also 2 other spots have shown up too. He also has a large lump on his leg.
