Taking prometrium and ttc

Common Questions and Answers about Taking prometrium and ttc

prometrium

Avatar f tn *I tried posting this in the pregnancy 21-34 community but didn't get much feedback, wasn't sure if this is a better place to post this question* I would appreciate any feedback. Very quickly, since I went off the pill in August 2007, I suffered a m/c in December. On 4/14 AF came on time (for the first time might I add) so I figured maybe my cycle will be regular. Well it was from 4/14-4/18 and pretty much consisted of heavy spotting and barely any cramping (unusual for me).
290867 tn?1333569278 i am not sure i was not told of any risks with this perscription i was just told not to take no more than doctor prescribed...
Avatar f tn It usually takes 1-2 days for me to start AF after going off of Prometrium if I am taking two a day one in the morning and one at night.
637951 tn?1257270344 After i had my son my periods were normal for a few months and then I just stopped getting them. Dh and I wanted to start TTC #2 so my OB prescribed prometrium for me. I started to bleed 3 days after my last pill.
359142 tn?1321120923 I thought about vitex, but did research and decided against it. I have regular cycles and ovulate, so I'm worried it would mess up my cycles. I am on progesterone...I've had 3 m/c and low progesterone with all, tho probably more of an egg issue I'd assume bc of my age.
1610106 tn?1298173845 I wonder if your levels start to decrease before taking the prometrium can a pregnancy still continue? meaning could the prometrium bring the levels up after they go down, or does it always result in MC?
Avatar f tn Well the reason I was starting Prometrium is to regulate my cycle and hopefully start OV'ing, but I was under the impression that I would start AFTER I was done especially since I've been going back and forth with bleeding for the past 3 weeks.
Avatar n tn I just started taking the prometrium 200mg a day i ovulated last tuesday and did what I was told to do... how fast does this really work is my question. My husband is excited and weve been trying for 6 years and well I dont want our hopes to get up! I'm 29 years old.
Avatar f tn I am TTC and taking crinone gel on day 17 until I get my period. I have noticed that I start having some mild cramps around 5 or 6 days after starting the crinone suppositories. Has anyone else noticed this? It seems to be working b/c I am not having mid-cycle spotting anymore and my cycles have gone from 24 days to around 32 days.
Avatar f tn Oh and your luteal phase should be a full 14 days! If you are getting your period in 10 days then your progesterone levels need to be rechecked as you might need more progesterone! you need mroe time for a baby to implant.
Avatar f tn I got a shot every week starting at 16weeks, thank God tomorrow is my last one
Avatar f tn so dr said when i got preg again he was going to put me on prometrium (progesterone) pills and lovenox. i also had been taking extra folic acid and prenatals before i got preg. i was on the lovenox injections til 20 wks, am off of that now and just take a baby aspirin daily. he said my case wasnt one of the better ones and that my danger zone would have been up to 16 wks. im thrilled to say im almost 30 wks preg with my first and last lil girl!!
422823 tn?1229736847 I took 100mg for one cycle (BFN) and the dr upped it to 200mg - on the third cycle - I got pregnant. I took it before I went to bed b/c of the side effects until I was in my 13th week. I'm now 30 weeks - I'd say, 'what could it hurt'?! I had two miscarriages and they ran a bunch of tests and found I have a blood clotting issue. So when we started TTC again I was told to take baby aspirin and prometrium.
Avatar f tn I took it through the first trimester and my baby was/is fine (11 months old now). I also took 200mg prometrium and probably 3g of folic acid. What I read was that synthetic progesterone is what is not safe during pregnancy but prometrium is the natural form and it is safe for pregnant women.
Avatar n tn My OB/GYN gave me Progesterone (prometrium 100mg per day) to take after ovulation. I have been doing this for several months now. I recently started seeing a RE and when I told him I start the prog either 1dpo or 2 dpo, he freaked out telling me that I should not start them until 4dpo because talking starting it any earlier than 4dpo would cause me not to ovulate properly. I always start prog after I get a +opk one day and a temp increase the next day (which I count as o day).
Avatar f tn t exactly comfortable with taking them because my doctor informed me that prometrium is not fda approved. I decided not to take the medication. When I returned to the doctor a week later, he said that my hormone level came back at 12.4 and informed me that that is extremely low. He said that my body would have had to have produced more of the hormone otherwise I would have already miscarried. (Before the appointment with him, I had an ultrasound done that confirmed everything was normal.
887196 tn?1267555107 I had luteal phase defect when TTC my first. I did not have it firmly diagnosed but my doctor confirmed at my first appt/ultrasound that I had correctly self-diagnosed (ha!). I had been chartign for 6 months and never had a temp increase after ovulation and my luteal phase was never longer than 8-9 days. I also had breakthrough bleeding/spotting for several days before AF, and AF was very heavy, long, and painful.
182352 tn?1231183410 I myself took progesterone injections but its about the same thing. Ive read lots of posts where people were taking glucophage also and it seems to be helpful.
Avatar f tn I had an IUI a few weeks ago and then started taking prometrium for ten days. I finished up last Wednesday so it has been 5 days. How long until I should expect my period after my last prometrium?
1160986 tn?1486819725 They told me to stop my Prometrium today and since it was my first time on it, I was wondering if anyone knows if AF will be heavier?
Avatar f tn Well, I have pcos too and my doctor put me on metformin 500mg three times a day and prometrium 200mg twice a day for 10 days each month. The metformin is good for me insulin levels and working with the prometrium my periods have come back after years of not having one. If your periods aren't coming and you're not ovulating it's so hard to have a baby. Ask your doc about putting you on metformin and prometrium or clomid. :) Good luck!
Avatar f tn I had 2 miscarriages in the past and with this one i went on prometrium and baby aspirin although nothing was ever diagnosed either. i did not experience any bleeding as a side effect of the prometrium though. have you had a scan yet?
Avatar f tn It did delay my cycle recently and once I got a negative BETA, I stopped taking it and 24 hours later my period started. I am now on cd 4 and will ovulate sometime after cd 10 is my guess!
Avatar n tn Hm, I didn't hear that one. I am 5 weeks and 2 days and the hubby and I have carried on as we always do (at least every 2-3 days) and no ill effects. Have you ever had testing done after the miscarraiges to see what was causing them. Sometimes they wait until the third one before they do.
406631 tn?1201892087 hello everyone im new here and i came to this site to see if i could get some help ive been ttc for 3 years now i just recently went to the doctor about 3 weeks ago and he put me on prometrium 400mg everyday for 10 days and then letrozole or femara 5mg cycle days 3 through 7 anyway im checkin for ovulation now and my test have not shown any surge of LH yet but its my first day to test what im wondering is is it normal to cramp what feels like in both my ovaries right before ovulation?
377493 tn?1356502149 The information you gave me is extremely helpful, and I appreciate you taking the time to write all that out. I actually take prometrium 3X100/day. I wonder why he prescribed such a high dose. I also take it orally. I am not quite in the 2WW yet. I should ovulate in the next day or two, in fact I would expect to get a positive on my opk tomorrow...I'm usually pretty consistent. This month I added Robistussin as I take clomid, so read a lot about hostile mucus. I also use preseed.
