15355684 tn?1440035790 You can protect your brain by giving it healthful fats from whole foods, such as organic eggs from pastured hens, whole raw milk from pastured cows, raw nuts, avocados, and olive oil. Eggs and dairy are a rich source of lecithin, choline and vitamin B12 nutrients especially important for good brain function. There is also evidence that coconut oil may offer very significant protection against brain diseases such as Alzheimer's, and may even stop brain atrophy in its tracks.
Avatar f tn I've been craving seafood and I've been eating it all!! Raw and cooked. It is frowned upon but you can't help what you crave!
Avatar f tn Undercooked meats (rare and medium steaks), anything with raw or undercooked eggs (cake batter, cookie dough) fish high in mercury.
Avatar f tn I've tried birth control pills and no relief. I had excision surgery and everything only got worse. The ONLY thing that has improved my endo is changing my diet. Cut out wheat/gluten, sugar, dairy, red meat and you'll feel better. Add superfoods like spirulina, goji berries, raw cacao, and you'll feel better. If you research Lupron you'll find that in independent studies something like 20% of all woman who get even one shot of it have debilitating side effects that never go away.
Avatar f tn ve personally had cravings for only sweets and me and baby are doing fine-the key is moderation, and not having a lot of it. Do avoid pop though, for the reasons that the salt and sugar will actually dehydrate you, which is worse for baby than any of the aforementioned (in my post). Water is your new best friend.
Avatar f tn No alcohol, cold deli meats, raw milk/cheese (eg camembert, brie), be very careful with raw fish in sushi, raw egg
Avatar f tn I always ate deli meats throughout my pregnancy and to this day my baby is perfectly healthy. I had a deli sandwich for lunch today. I know sushi isn't good too eat because it's raw. Anything raw during pregnancy is bad. And I know you can eat tuna lobster and other stuff but not oysters or sword fish and shark I think.
Avatar f tn Eat only foods that you can stomach. Your body will tell you. If you have no food aversions you are very lucky. Just remember to stay away from alcoholic drinks, and raw or foods that are not well done...moderation with everything. Eat yogurt, eggs, protein shakes, lots of fruits even dried fruits as snacks, saltine crackers. Eat every 2 hrs to keep nausea at bay. Fluids...
5830515 tn?1375407668 I'm running into so much conflicting information on what foods I must avoid and what I can eat. I don't have my first appointment for another two weeks. Anyone have tips or resources? I'm so anxious and paranoid!!
Avatar f tn And no raw/undercooked foods and try to steam your lunch meat before eating it
Avatar f tn Lessen the amount of prepackaged products (including prepackaged salads etc) and increase your fruit and veg intake. Meats and fish are 'supposed' to be cooked properly all the way through (no med-rare). But you will get told aloy of what/what not to do. Just do what you think is best. There are women out there that have eaten all of the above throughiut and have had a perfectly healthy baby. Just be semi cautious.
Avatar n tn My son is 15mo old and the pickiest eater, we let our son eat only finger foods. Let him pick up the foods he likes and feed himself. The book called baby Superfoods was helpful too. Is your son thin or a low weight percentile ??? mine is. Whaty do you think ???
Avatar f tn I love spicy food and continue to eat it (I am pregnant) I was reading some very interesting research about trying different foods and how it's healthy for the baby (except for food that's been put off the table like fish rich in mercury, raw eggs etc we have to stay away from the unsafe food during pregnancy) but other than that if ur tummy can handle it by all means eat spicy :) but make sure u are eating all the nutrients and minerals necessary as well.
Avatar f tn She talks about experimenting with both raw and cooked goitrogens and noting the effects afterwards. She used to have a tense, tight feeling across her throat like a constricting of the airways. After about a year of avoiding these foods, she retested them and had no reaction. "While I have spoken to many people who experienced the same reactions I did, there are others who have thyroid conditions who never had any of these issues.
Avatar n tn what it destroys most are enzymes, which can only be found intact in raw and fermented foods. As to microwaving specifically, I don't know.
Avatar m tn Physical activity is a good anti-anxiety and self-esteem booster. Healthy diet and/or supplements and vitamins are always good to compensate the lack of nutriments we are not getting in all the processed food and nutriments we lose by cooking our foods. It has been proven that you are more prone to physical and mental illness while lacking body's needs in nutriments.
Avatar f tn So everything ive read says to stay away from raw and undercooked meats, does that mean no more medium rare steaks for me? Also, which foods would help me gain a little more weight?
Avatar n tn Eating as many "whole" foods as possible (i.e. fruits and vegetables, whole grains and legumes, unprocessed meats, fish, and eggs) is good in general for health. You want to avoid prepared and processed foods, and, as Rocker said, foods with ingredients you can't get at home. The advice to shop only around the edges of the grocery store is good. I would also try to get organic food if you can afford it. Supplements cannot replace fruit and vegetables.
1050981 tn?1254376368 Here is a list of some things off the list my OB gave me. Fish containing mercury. (this includes Albacore tuna) Raw eggs Raw meat Alcohol Herbal teas Caffeine, only in moderation less than 200 mg a day (two cups of coffee) Soft (imported) cheese I'm sure there is more, but this is all I can remember.

458384 tn?1295720656 Grapes will definately cause kidney problems, I know of one GSD that ended up in the ER with kidney failure, she lived. Onions can cause hemolytic anemia but I also know of someones gsd that loved onions. I add cooked garlic to some of my homemade mixtures. If one feeds people food as I do on occasion I just feed less kibble. Keep in mind that fried foods are not good for us, so not good for our fur friends.
Avatar f tn What meats and other foods can I not eat? What foods are the best for me to eat?
Avatar f tn I have always been allergic to foods since growing up, but recently the lsit is getting longer especially with raw fruits and vegetables. I underwent new skin tests in July of 2009 to determine the ones I was confident I was having a reaction too, and the tests confirmed all of them. I am now concerned with my reaction (usually stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting) will cause damage to my esophagus, or if there is something else GI related that is going on.
Avatar f tn Because some research has shown that women with PCOS are insulin resistant, we need to really watch our sugar intake, while eating LOTs of raw, whole, live fruits, veggies, and superfoods..This along with exercise, stress reduction, (yoga is the best for me) and supplements have been shown to help other women.. I have been pretty down lately, due to the hair loss and skin problems, and have yet to give the natural path a complete go of it.
611067 tn?1458591483 I was reading the post about cats and problems with their bowels and read about the raw food and the more natural dry foods. I have been doing research and since we have 5 cats and not a lot of time, I don't think we can do the raw foods just yet (and hubby is out of work). But, we are looking at the various dry foods and I specifically like the EVO from everything I've read, but it's just way too expensive for us just now.
