Sumatriptan chest pain

Common Questions and Answers about Sumatriptan chest pain

imitrex

Avatar f tn It seems to help most of the time. I am also on sumatriptan for migraines. This was the first time I experienced this constant pain right behind my left eye. Thought the pain was from migraines so I took sumatriptan . So migraines are a throbbing pain on one side?
Avatar f tn My symptoms have worsened, to the point where i cannot go up the stairs without having to stop due to shortness of breath, pain in my heart, and weakness in my legs. I almost always feel a tightness in my chest, and any pressure on my chest causes pain. Could this all truly be because of my anxiety? Or should I get a second opinion?
Avatar f tn Hi Jenny, I went to see my GP this morning and he has put me on sumatriptan. I took one and got quite a tight chest and throat and felt a bit dizzy but after an hour that subsided. I still have my headache but the dull throb definately has improved, thanks for the suggestion. I have also been put on 900mg of gabapentin and I have to see him again in 2 weeks. If there is no improvement with that then I have to see my neurologist again.
2124631 tn?1335166144 chest pain, jaw/left arm pain, fainting, fast/irregular/pounding heartbeat, vision changes, weakness on one side of the body, confusion, slurred speech, sudden or severe stomach/abdominal pain, bloody diarrhea.Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: blue fingers/toes/nails, cold sensation of hands/feet, hearing changes, mental/mood changes, seizures. This medication may rarely cause a very serious condition called serotonin syndrome.
Avatar f tn By night 2, I was afraid to fall asleep because I would wake up every hour, which the pain increased as the hours went by. I took my sumatriptan as directed, with no relief. This was the first time my medications didn't work. The night before I called my doctor, I experienced tingling on my hands and feet and had little to no sleep. When I went to my doctor, she suspected that I had viral meningitis, and called the ER to let them know I was on my way.
Avatar f tn I should also note that the very first time i started getting these facial pain attacks, my first doctor thought it was migraines and prescribed me Sumatriptan. And the sumatriptan did take the pain away. And I have learned that sumatriptan helps with cluster headaches. Is there any other trigeminal neuralgia sufferers out there, who suffer the same symptoms as I do? Help me please I am very confused about this condition!!! Sarah.
Avatar n tn You can get freezing, pain-killing, nerve-block type injections into trigger point sites that help with pain. Or, there is botox that some people use that helps with their migraines. Talk to your doctor about this. Let us know how it goes.
Avatar f tn I have a migraine of some degree about 28 days of the month. I get Botox injections, am on Topomax, Sumatriptan, anti nausea meds...the whole works. My life was changed in an instant. I am wondering if anyone has had a similar incident, and recovered??? None of my doctors can say if I will ever be free of these migraines...
Avatar f tn but you would describe the pain as severe pain or moderate to severe pain... then it could be migraine headaches. Also, how long do these headaches normally last for? If the pain only last for seconds, then you could be suffering from icepick headaches. If these headaches are cluster headaches or migraines, then parametemol/codeine are NOT the right type of treatment at all!!! Also, if you are suffering from icepick headaches...
Avatar n tn have you tryed sumatriptan for the pain? i have the same thing your describing, but i do have periods of remmission.. maybe only a few hours at the most. for the most part i take sumatriptan for the pain. i have no idea why it works but it works for me. if you've been on it than maybe it doesnt work, but if you havent been on it, ask your doc about it. hope any of this helps!
1102283 tn?1257817472 But, due to cost constraints, I would suggest getting a prescription for the cheapest generic triptan which is called Sumatriptan tablets. The Sumatriptan tablets work well for many people, so if they work well for you then that would be excellent and you can just stick to them as your only prescription. Although, due to the extremely low bioavailability of Sumatriptan tablets, they do not always work well for everyone (although Sumatriptan is still the most prescribed triptan on the market).
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed me trazodone hydrochloride for anxiety, sumatriptan succinate for migraines, zopiclone for sleep, I've been told I can take the trazodone with zopiclone, but I have the new sumatriptan tablets, it says in the medical pamphlet that it is an MAO-A inhibitor and can't be taken with antidepressants/anxiety tablets. Would it be ok to take both the trazodone hydrochloride and the sumatriptin succinate together?
Avatar f tn Can a (OTC) Optical Coherence Tomograph picture cause eye pain and headache after the test is complete? If yes what is the care prescribed to patients for relief?
1761287 tn?1313824787 Not sure if that can contribute to migraine onset. I take Advil PM to help me sleep because that is the only way to stop the pain. Thanks for any advice on treatment...Oh...I was prescribed Sumatriptan for them & it works only sometimes, although it does have some dizziness as a side effect...
Avatar f tn I am now taking sumatriptan injections which masks the pain and also have gone oxygen. I am still suffering daily and have had no success with any medication . I am still under a neurologist who are still not sure why I am getting these horrendous headaches , I have told them I get them when hot . My body overheats and doesn't cool like my temperature gauge is broken.
Avatar n tn Symptoms of a migraine may include sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, auras (loss of vision in one eye or tunnel vision), difficulty of speech and intense pain predominating on one side of the head You can also try for sumatriptan in combination with NSAID like naproxen.
612876 tn?1355514495 I'm so glad you had success with it! I looked briefly at one of the links you provided and found the drug was sumatriptan, the same medication as imitrex. So unfortunately, it doesn't look like a solution for me. With sumatriptan pills, it could give me chest pains though I used to take it anyway. Injections (not needleless ones)-the first one seemed to work quite well and I went to a ballgame with my work afterward (back in the days I was working).
621465 tn?1221537588 Several days ago I was trying to rest off a migraine headache. I had not taken any medicine for it since most pain killers upset my stomach, and it was already mighty upset. I guess I got up to go the bathroom and fainted on the way. My sister found me face down in the hallway, and she said I was non-responsive for about 5-7 minutes after she found me. At first I refused to go to the ER because the ER is bright and noisy, but eventually I let someone talk me into going.
Avatar n tn I wanted to know if it is ok to take my amitriptyline after i took my sumatriptan.? Can someone please help me? I took bith pills and i don't know if i was supposed to i can't remember what my doctor said.
Avatar f tn I would like to know how long after taking Sumatriptan/Imitrex could any drowsiness side effect be considered to have worn off for when I get a migraine away from home and have no reasonable option to get home without driving myself. A few years ago, I got a migraine while some distance from home. I do not drive with a migraine.
Avatar m tn Sometimes I get an urge to "crack" my neck, by moving it back and forward and side to side. After I move it to the side far enough, it makes a popping sound and I feel relief for a while, but then hours later I will start to get a headache that gets worse and worse until I just have to shut down and try to sleep. It's too painful to do anything. The last time it happened, it was a throbbing pain on only the right side of my head, especially behind my eye.
