Common Questions and Answers about Stroke symptoms one side

stroke

Avatar n tn ve experienced symptoms on the right side of my body, starting earlier this year i would get a sharp pain travelling down the right side of my body, same places as i am now experiencing this numb type of feeling so i saw a neurologist. I had a normal neurological exam in feb this year along with normal brain mri in march. I had a lot of blood tests taken in august which were normal also. Can anybody offer me any help or advice?
Avatar f tn ll notice that my right pupil is larger than the left. Should I be worried that these are like stroke symptoms or something else? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I am having the same thing...I have already had one MRI of my brain but am having another one this week or next week as I went to a neuro and he thinks something may have happened between my last MRI and now. A neuro exam will help them see if there is a need for an MRI. Please get to a neuro and email me and let me know what happens. I will let you know what mine comes back as.
1310611 tn?1279923843 Is losing balance and falling to one side a stroke symptom? I have had several experiences of losing balance and falling to my right side. Grabbing a door was the only thing keeping me from falling. I have fallen to the same side while trying to get out of a chair. I have also had several episodes that made me feel like I was standing with one leg on an incline and the other side much lower like I was standing on a hill parallel to the incline. Any info would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn I had a patient one time that had a stroke (all the same symptoms that you have...tingling, numbness, fatigue, etc) The patient had a left sided thalamic stroke that effected the right side of the body. Right arm unable to move, right leg with strength 3 out of 5. Left side of the body unaffected.
307874 tn?1242755798 The neuro said I had a stroke at one time on the right side. It should be on the left side. So i do not know what is wrong. I have been thinking it could be ms. So - I just had a EEG and waiting on the results of that. I dont see my neuro until June again. I wonder if he will yell at me for asking for a lp? I guess it will have to be his idea. I have been having twitching and jerking like spells now.
Avatar n tn Her neuro tests where always good during an episode although she would have a weaker grip in her right hand when she had left sided facial drooping(it was only ever on the left side that her face would droop). One night she came out of the bathroom and lost her balance, almost like she was in a drunken stupor. She did spike a temp of 38.4 one evening but it hasn't occured since. She has been home now for almost 3 weeks and it's very frustrating.
Avatar f tn I am no professional but this seems like a stroke. A stroke is when blood is lost in one side of the brain causing dizziness, loss of motor skills, confusion, blurred vision, and other symptoms. I am not trying to scare you but a stroke is rather serious. Do some research and if you think the symptoms match up force her to see a doctor.
Avatar f tn I have 2 babies , I had Stoke symptoms with both but my last one was worse . I'm pregnant now , only like 4 weeks , and I'm already getting stroke symptoms. I'm not for an abortion but if it means loosing my life will my doctor let me terminate , I can be on birth control because I get the same symptoms. My left side goes numb an I can see out of my eye an I get a migraine like no other .
Avatar m tn My concern with your symptoms would be a small stroke, resulting in numbness of the Left side of your body. I am especially concerned since you give a history of a tooth infection. Whenever there is a tooth infection that is untreated, there is a risk of the bacteria going in to the blood stream and attaching to the valves inside the heart. The bacteria can then grow there in to a vegetation, and parts of it can break of and go to the brain, resulting in a stroke.
Avatar f tn the day before the mini stroke my skin turned yellow and my left side of my body, mainly my arm, hurt and was very heavy. now i have regular tingling in my hands and feet and almost daily bone pain in my arms and legs. weekly and daily supplements have helped most symptoms but not all. any ideas??
Avatar n tn The next day he woke up with the same symptoms as the stroke 6 years ago and we assumed he had another stroke. The MRI, CTScan shows no new stroke, but his symptoms continue and he doesn't seem to be getting much better. He has lost his job due to the memory loss issues. Any thoughts on what could have happened? We are seeing a neuropsychologist.
Avatar n tn This could also be side effects of a bad migraine. Numbness in face one side, vision impairment, ect. See a doctor and get your brain checked. MRI or MRA as soon as possible. There are treatments if it is migraine problems. If it is a stroke or TIA you should be treated ASAP!
Avatar m tn smokers, high cholesterol, diabetics, hypertensives, and people over the age of 55. However, they can occur in any age. If your numbness was due to a stroke, it would start somewhat suddenly (over minutes) and would likely persist without significant improvement. Also, you would have changes on the MRI to suggest a stroke. Other potential causes include multiple sclerosis, a brain tumor, a vascular malformation and others. These too would have been seen on the MRI.
Avatar n tn sudden numbness or weakness of face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body, sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding, sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes, sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination, and sudden severe headache with no known cause.
Avatar n tn The other day I posted some symptoms about random things on my body losing feeling: https://www.medhelp.org/posts/Neurology/Can-anyone-tell-me-why-I-dont-have-feeling-in-certain-parts-of-my-body/show/3022328#post_14335160 I was waiting for my MRI results and they came back today. It showed a white lesion on the right side of my brain when looking top down. The neurologist was not sure if I had MS, a stroke or something else. He said we would need to wait four months and schedule another MRI.
Avatar n tn difficulty speaking (aphasia); weakness on one side of the body (hemiparesis); and numbness or tingling (paresthesia), usually on one side of the body. Impairment of consciousness is very uncommon. If there are neurological symptoms persisting for more than 24 hours, it is classified as a cerebrovascular accident, or stroke.
473703 tn?1207757754 I was just hopeing that some one can tell me some of the symptoms of Ms. I was in the hospital due to stroke like symptoms spend a few days there and had many heart test done, come to find out that I did not have a stroke , well that's a good thing I thought. And then a Neuro came in to see me, and told me that on my MRI he had seen somethings that he was not happy with, He said I think you might have Ms, and that he wanted to do a few more test.
Avatar f tn However I will try to provide you with some useful information Sudden weakness, sensory loss, and loss of vision on one side of the body can have many possible causes. A transient ischemic attack (TIA) is one possible cause. This can be caused by a transient blockage of an artery in the brain. In a patient the age of your daughter, the conventional causes of TIA and stroke present in older adults are absent (such as smoking, diabetes etc).
Avatar n tn Strokes usually present over the course of several hours and involve a plethora of neurological symptoms, like confusion, difficulty speaking, memory loss, sudden lethargy, tingling or numbness down one side of the body, and sometimes a sharp pain in the head. Should ever experience these symptoms collectively, get yourself to an ER immediately because some the damage done by a stroke can be reversed if anti-coagulants are administered within 3 - 4hrs of the clot developing.
