Common Questions and Answers about Stroke symptoms vomit

207091 tn?1337713093 Hi, I'm not really sure what the symptoms could be, but I honestly don't think it's seizures or a stroke. Seizures you would've noticed twitching and loss of bowel or urinary control. A stroke would've affected one side of the body only, and she wouldn't have recovered so quickly. This could be a thyroid problem, or diabetes. You can try taking her food away for 6-8 hrs so she'll be ready to get tested for diabetes as soon as you get to the vet's office.
Avatar n tn I think it unlikely that the primary cause of your dog's death was heat stroke. Your dog was exhibiting abnormal symptoms prior to being left outside. She had increased drinking while she was still indoors in the air conditioning. Increased drinking can be signs of over heating of course, but it is also caused by diabetes, hyperadrenocorticism, kidney disease, pyometra, toxin ingestion and more. I am sorry that I cannot be more definitive about her cause of death.
Avatar m tn Thinking he would be in the a/c he went back to work the next day and had to be outside to fix a part on the equipment he was running which set him off to a severe headache, he quit sweating, dry and hot, his muscles were starting to cramp and he said he felt like he could vomit, but never did. He had all the symptoms of a stroke, but didn't lose consciousness. When he finally got home, he got on the couch and ran fever of 100+ all night. He was bad enough he didn't try to go to work today.
Avatar n tn I just found out that high levels can cause stroke! I also recovered very quickly and have no residual symptoms. I do have to say that having a baby is definitely motiviation to get better quickly.
Avatar n tn My father had a similar sounding stroke on Dec. 8, 2006. He seemed pretty alert, spoke well, could swallow, etc. His major problems were left side paralysis and double vision. After about three weeks, he took his first steps and within 2 weeks of that was walking 40 feet with a walker. He was not able to start moving his left hand until about 4 weeks in. At that point, he could move all fingers and make a loose fist.

Avatar n tn I knew I was still standing, I was leaning on the garbage can with my hand against a wall. A little while later I did vomit, still without my vision. I stood there, hoping things would get better. Very slowly, probably another 3-4 minutes my vision started to return but it was very strange the way it was coming back. If you've seen a high contrast or highly saturated TV screen or picture, thats what it looked like till it slowly started to contrast back to normal.
Avatar n tn My DX is vertigo, but I was told yesterday, by someone with vertigo, that is not what I have. They are staying away from the word stroke because it seems I'm too young at 35 to have one of those. What led to my dizinness and nausea is different, but I'm left with same. One day can be good with little dizziness, and some days bad, but the nausea has worn off. I don't get nausiated all the time anymore with the diziness.
Avatar n tn My sister-in-law had a hemorrhagic stroke with a intracerebral hemorrhage. This was on May 18th. They have done a Ventriculostomy. The gas man found her in the driveway. We figure it had been somewhere between 20-35 mins. before she was found. They have her in a medically induced coma where they say she will stay for the next 3-4 weeks. Is this normal? Also, they did a cat scan on the 18th, and 19th and we were told the bleeding had stopped.
Avatar f tn retching symptoms but no stroke. I had a endoscopy and it showed the retching damage as well as Hiatal hernia. I was put on Protonix. I still get that same cough/vomit feeling even when my stomach is empty for 4-12 hours after eating. After reading all the harm PPI can do including stroke I decided to add anti viral herbs to my diet to reduce post nasal drip infection etc. It seems certain foods trigger acid reflux GERD symptoms as well.
Avatar n tn 2003 MRI/MRA with and without contrast performed everything normal, April 2005 CT scan done normal, Feb 2006 eye doctor appointment and everything normal. However, the minor headaches I am having now are accompanied with some other symptoms that I have never had before. Weakness in right arm/wrist, extreme discomfort in left side of neck along with pain, short term memory lapses, loss of balance, urge to vomit (but nothing yet) and ringing in left ear.
Avatar f tn It is very likely that you suffered a stroke 1 month ago which means you are now at an even higher risk of having another stroke -- and the next one may be devastating and permanent. You must treat your blood pressure, check your sugar and cholesterol and put yourself on a good diet. Find a doctor or a clinic that will do a comprehensive exam and start you on medication. Do it for your kids.
Avatar f tn My last cerebral artery occlusion with infaret, was 1.2 years ago, but just recently i started getting the worst post stroke spacticity symptoms. As usuall, i am the 1 that finds my own cures. Most stroke doctors, now know that worst drug to give a patient, especially if they suffered demylination disease along with their stroke is neuroleptic drugs, which actually cause CPSP!
Avatar m tn I'm not a doctor, either, not even close, but his symptoms sound to me like those of a stroke. I don't know why a stroke, if that's what it was, wouldn't have shown up on brain imagery. Maybe it was too soon, and maybe new imagery would show something now. I just don't know about that, but he's got to have medical attention, as soon as possible.
Avatar m tn This can also be due to transient ischemic attack which also present with stroke-like symptoms but no neurological deficits and normal ct scan. If it recurs, you may need to have this evaluated further by your doctor for proper management. Take care and regards.
451975 tn?1372332199 I just went to the hospital on Easter with Stroke like symptoms and was treated as such. I am 35 years old. They did all the normal tests MRI, MRA, and tons of blood work. Although the CT scan showed something that they thought may have been a mini stroke the other tests ruled it out and they diagnosed me with a silent or atypical migraine. I had all symptoms of a stroke. The numbness, tingling, drooping of the eyes and mouth on one side, no facial expressions and I could hardly talk.
Avatar n tn At first with the nausea, I thought I may just be having acid reflux but the numbing feeling in my left arm and my neck and now the pain in my parietal lobe is making me think that maybe it could be symptoms of stroke.. which I'm way too young for but I guess is still possible. I do keep track of my blood pressure and it has been somewhat normal. My baseline BP is 90/60 and my blood pressure lately has been around 120/70 which isn't bad at all. All other vitals are normal as well.

Avatar n tn , a phone call that he made two days before). His comprehension, already affected by a stroke that he had three years ago, is getting worse. Physical symptoms include red palms, along with "knots" underneath the skin, and red, blotchy skin (upper torso). In the past two months, he has lost about 15 lbs. without trying. His appetite is poor, and he is easily fatigued. He also sounds like he has a lot of congestion in his chest (kind of a wheezy, rattling sound).
Avatar f tn Hello my dad 51 years old had a stroke about 5 days ago. Lucky that his girlfriend found him in the morning face down in his vomit inside his RV. He was then transferred to the hospital! Right now he is hooked up to a ventilator but doctors are saying that he is breathing on his own. He is unresponsive to anything we say, but he does cough every now and then which causes him to have a gag reflex due to all the tubes in his mouth. When they pinch him for a test he also moves.

Avatar n tn constant dizziness and blurred vision on one side of my head; whenever I leaned my head to the side the room would spin and I would become light-headed.) After various thyroid tests, an MRI for possible brain tumor, MS, and stroke, my MD decided it possibly could be a weird side effect of Effexor. I took 37.5 mgs for 7 days, and now have been Effexor free for 5 days. Until today I really havent had any withdrawel although my dizziness and blurry vision have remained constant.
Avatar n tn I'm having withdrawal symptoms I didn't expect. Light headedness, the runs, blood pressure going up, and general fatigue. Lots of fatigue. And some irritability. I am hoping that these symptoms begin to decrease soon. Well, they have gotten better than it was in the first 2 days. I am still wondering how long I can expect to have these side effects of withdrawal?
Avatar f tn It all started about 12 years ago with her having epileptic type fits, brought on after severe migranes which she got 5 days out of a 7 day week, these were so bad they made her physicall vomit, and she was bed ridden for every migrane she got. She was put on medication for epilepsy which reduced, and finally completely stopped the strokes, however the migranes still occured but not as often.
Avatar n tn I saw my FP, and he just does not feel my symptoms are 'consistent' with MS. My question is, aren't the symptoms of MS vague? I asked him about an MRI of my head and spine and he just does not see it as needed. Another question, lately I have experienced brief (lasting minutes) visual disturbances. One eye gets very blurry, and I have to blink hard and rapidly over a few minutes to get it to come back to 'normal'.
211940 tn?1267884866 I had two instances whereby my arms began shaking (severe tremors) and I would hyperventilate, both times I was rushed to the ER, where they gave me diazapham (to calm me down). They weren't sure what the cause was, but they ruled out a seizure or stroke. The visits came to an end, but the "fun" was not over. My Neurologist sent me for an MRI, which resulted in showing a "walnut sized" cyst in the middle of my brain, and 12-16 lesions.
Avatar n tn Then I developed symptoms like strep throat and I went to the second doctor. I developed these symptoms after spending a day with a friend that had simmilar symptoms (white stuff all over her throat). I drank from the same bottle of gatarode as her. My school physician (2nd doctor) diagnsoed it as strep, but did not take a throat culture and perscribed Zythromax.
Avatar n tn I can be tired after 12 hours sleep! Can I be suffering symptoms from my thallassemia. Does any one else feel the same way that I do? This is a little bit hard for me, but I don't want to complain.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed Ritalin for adult ADHD a year ago, at first it was a big help and benefited me but as time went on the side effects got worse - including bad acid reflux during the day to the point I would get a sour taste in my mouth and nearly vomit, and a dermatitis type skin rash/hives and acne-like breakouts, as well as occasional red flush, tremors, and blurred vision.
