Strattera for anxiety

Common Questions and Answers about Strattera for anxiety

strattera

Avatar n tn The Adderal XR was effective at combating my ADHD symptoms but made my anxiety worse, so my doctor prescribed Strattera. I found the Strattera to be not nearly as effective as Adderal XR, so without consulting my doctor, I began taking both medications together. This is working extraordinarily well. The Strattera seems to ease my anxiety while slightly reducing ADHD symptoms and the Adderal XR nearly eliminates the remaining ADHD symptoms.
Avatar n tn Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.
Avatar m tn That's great! It's amazing when you find the best mix of medications. Why did they add a medication on if I may ask?
Avatar m tn Yesterday, I noticed that you suggested Strattera to another mom for tics. Our doctor told us also to change to Strattera.
Avatar f tn I have adhd/anxiety/ibs-d. I was on librax for two years and did not know it had librium. My fault for not researching the medicine. After I realize that I am developing a tolerance I stop taking it and try something else. My GP thinks my ibs is because of my adhd\anxiety but I haven't been on medicine for it since college. Starts out with my former medicine, strattera, but when I would take it I felt my heart was out of control and my blood pressure went up.
396332 tn?1320003615 So I am now on Cymbalta + Strattera for general anxiety/ OCD. Has anyone had any luck with Stratttera being added to there antidepressant. My doctor said this was a great combo.
Avatar f tn I would take her to a pediatric psychologist for a second opinion. It sounds like she is being medicated for the side effects from the Strattera and she may be over stimulated.
Avatar n tn hey my diagnoses is bipolar depression i take 150 zoloft,50naltrexone,60mg inderol,trileptal 900,stelazine 6mg,cogentin 0.
Avatar n tn 40mg once a day for the antacid. Anxiety wise, I've only taken random classes at community college because I haven't been confident in my ability to actually complete a degree. I want to change all of this and work my way to a university. I get anxious when I think about how behind I am compared to my friends, that I don't know what I want to do degree/career wise, and other things mostly related to self-confidence.
Avatar m tn ask your Dr. about Strattera. It is prescribed for Attention Deficit disorder, but is not a stimulant. It is non-addictive and not a controlled substance. It also has some of the same properties as SSNRI's. Since it affects neurotransmitters it is a very useful drug.
Avatar f tn I had to stop taking the strattera because it gave me the hot flashes.I stopped Strattera in Feb of 07. In November of 2008, I tapered off Prozac. I was ok for about 9 months. Then, in August of 09, I started having anxiety issues.. Not really mental anxiety, but physical anxiety.. My insides felt like they were running on overdrive, kind of like an engine at high idle. So in October of 08, I went back on Prozac (10mg) About 1 week into treatment, I started having chest pain..
Avatar f tn is that abilify is a good suplement to another drug, not necessarily good to be the primary drug. for instance my dr. added abilify to my effexor and strattera for the cognitive, energizing and 'easier to deal with stress' effects of the abilify. but the effexor is still my main mood booster and the strattera is still my main anxiety damper.
Avatar n tn am i being over medicated?the dr told me that im on low doses is that true?....i was wondering if strattera will work for me in the future...

Avatar f tn My doctor has me on welubturon 150mg, strattera 25mg and klonopin 1mg. The klonopin for sleep. I love the way the other two make me feel throughout the day. Focused, happy. However, I work for a gym and my physical abilities are very important as they are my job. Ever since I've started the strattera, I'm only able to give about 60% and I still feel flu'ish. Weak, sick, cold sweats. That's not me. They want me to try this for three weeks.
Avatar n tn t seem to work for me, they make me extremely irritable and give me chest pains. Tried strattera but it made me extremely emotional, to the point of sobbing for no reason. My doctor put me on Buspar, 5 mg 2x a day to help with my ADHD...but I have not read any solid literature on Buspar and its effects on ADHD symptoms. Is this a good drug to go on for ADHD? Has anyone else been on this drug for ADHD?
Avatar m tn Does strattera give any false positive reading for a urine or hair follicle test? Would it come up as a amphetamine or methamphetamine, or any other illegal substance?
Avatar f tn My son developed Raynard's Phenomen after taking Strattera. Weaning him down on the dosage reduced the symptoms. His hands otherwise where blue, white, and cold through out the day. He had a reaction from the stimulants and can not take them. HAs anyone used accupuncture for controlling ADD symptoms?
Avatar f tn A combined analysis of 12 studies of Strattera showed that in children and teens this risk was 0.4% for those taking Strattera compared to none for those taking a sugar pill. A similar analysis in adults treated with Strattera did not reveal an increased risk of suicidal thoughts. Call your doctor right away if your child has thoughts of suicide or sudden changes in mood or behavior, especially at the beginning of treatment or after a change in dose.
5553333 tn?1369941048 Strattera would be the absolute worst possible choice to treat tremors/shaking! Of course it would have made you feel worse! It's a stimulant ("upper") used primarily to treat ADD/ADHD. Were you put on that for the shaking? Do you have an ADD/ADHD diagnosis? I would recommend findind a new doctor, who can look at the situation from a fresh perspective, and offer other options. Don't write off medications in general based on just ONE...
Avatar f tn My son is 14 and we recently found out he has aspergers, he is seeing a counselor at this point. He gets a lot of anxiety over a lot of things. I was wondering if any of you get medication for your child for anxiety. We go back to the counselor next week and I am going to ask her about it but wanted to hear from some of you who have a child like me. I think medication would really help him.
Avatar f tn Strattera is a non stimulant med used for ADHD. Whether or not it would be effective for you, I don't know. This site lists almost all possible treatment options. Although for some reason, I couldn't find Strattera listed, so you need to google that. The site is http://www.healing-arts.org/children/ADHD/medications.htm And the following site also lists (with info) non stimulant meds (they do mention strattera). http://www.baltimorepsych.com/NonStimulants.
Avatar f tn According to the web, Strattera carries with it a "black box warning" - the most serious warning a prescription med can carry and still be on the market - that strattera has been linked to suicidal thoughts in children. I agree with Margy - I would call that doing terribly on strattera. I'm not quite sure what behaviors strattera has helped with, but a child with new suicide thoughts are about the worst thing I can think of.
Avatar n tn I have been on Pristiq 100mg for 3 months, Wellbutrin 150mg for 5 weeks and we added Strattera 40mg. Pristiq for PMDD, Wellbutrin for motivation and Strattera for focus. Separately they help each thing only. So was wondering if anyone else is on a combo like this and it’s helped. And how long. I seem to be anxious more lately before adding Strattera....hoping this helps it. No libido what so ever.
Avatar f tn I want to try stimulants because I understand they usually make the biggest help for people with ADD (and Strattera might interfere with the 20 mg daily of Prozac I already take), BUT I am concerned that Stimulants may exacerbate my mvp symptoms which flare from time to time (rapid/fluttery heartbeat with accompanying anxiety/panic attack type symptoms). I was given Xanax to help with the panic attacks/rapid heartbeat a long time ago before I was actually diagnsoed with MVP by echocardiogram.
Avatar f tn We are also this month going to try to get her put on Strattera for problems with concentration and other problems at school. I also read it is good for anxiety. Has anyone had any problems with this drug? Can anyone suggest any other medications or therapies that would be helpful?
