Stomach pain after liver biopsy

Common Questions and Answers about Stomach pain after liver biopsy

stomach-pain

Avatar f tn I had my liver biopsy on Dec 23. I am not sure if this is normal, but i am having severe pains in my stomach area and liver area to the point where I can not breathe. I went to the ER Dec 24 for the pain. They said my liver was inflamed bc of the biopsy and that's how my body is dealing with the procedure. They did an ultrasound and CAT-SCAN to see if their is any damage or internal bleeding- NON. Which is good but this pain is unbearable at times.
Avatar m tn You may consider doing a Liver Biopsy. A liver biopsy is a procedure to remove a small piece of the liver so it can be examined with a microscope for signs of damage or disease. The three main types of liver biopsy are percutaneous, transvenous, and laparoscopic. I felt some of the symptoms you described myself. Had a Colonoscopy done & all was good just needed to change my diet with no red meat & pork along with many of the greasy & spicy foods.
Avatar f tn Lately, he has had severe back pain, feeling sick to his stomach, his stomach feels hard, he doesnt sleep well and feels like he always has acid reflux. He has an appt tomorrow for another CT and Ultrasound, however, we want to know if based on the symptoms if this is cancerous.
739471 tn?1241715868 Is it true that a cirrhotic liver feels no pain? Can I possibly hope this will be the only liver biopsy I will need in the future? I only had a local at the injection site, is it possible to pre-treat for pain or use a sedative? I am thinking the next time I would need to be knocked out to be able to stay on the table.
508257 tn?1210814422 I felt like she may have an obstruction at the entrance to her stomach causing the pain, which is mostly shortly after she eats, but the pain sometimes wakes her up in the middle of the night, just under her ribs....she is a nervous type person and could be having spasms of some kind.....we are hoping that the biopsy will give her some idea of what is going on with the liver, but she probably has multiple digestive problems....thanks LA This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.
Avatar f tn this Friday and I know they will do the same blood panel as was done in 11/07 I am just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or if a liver biopsy should be done? The pain is constant and dull for the most part but lately it has been more severe and almost debilitating at time.
Avatar f tn I saw my doctor and he wants a liver biopsy. He says it is not painful and there is no need to be sedated. Curious if that is true, really scared about it.
Avatar m tn Fibroscan is good, but to get a complete look into your liver and what hbv is doing or not doing liver biopsy is the best. My doctor, my hepatologist, and the radiologist all told me. Don't fear the liver biopsy!
Avatar f tn Hello well I am ok, just like 48weeks mentioned, I just saw my Doc today and he said it's probably just blood that has pooled and I have taken Tylenol, it has helped a lot. I am careful not to take too much as I know it isn't good for the liver. I am happy to say that my liver biopsy shows no damage yet so I am very lucky as I have had this for sometime. I had the Pen-Intron Rebitol treatment before and it didn't work.
561705 tn?1234546159 Well, I definitely experienced "liver pain" before, and after my biopsy(and it was an ultrasound guided biopsy). In fact had pretty strong persistent pain(none in my shoulder) for at least 2 weeks post biopsy, even went to the emergency room 4 days post for pain, was xrayed and given an a ok..So go figure...Occasionally even after svr and with enzyme levels of alt 23/ast24, I still get a heavy feeling/pressure in the area of my liver...and that is without "poking" (g)..
Avatar f tn I have had similar horrible pains I would have sworn were the liver, but apparently they were more GI, and due to intestinal spams of the stomach and intestines.. Please call your doctor soon. Mine put me on Digestx (probably spelled incorrectly) which pretty much stops the spasms. It's an analgesic also. I only take it when an attack comes on, and it has been hugely helpful.
Avatar m tn Any other symptoms? Chronic headaches, eye pain, stomach pain, joint and muscle pain, smell and or hearing hypersensativaties, heart palpatations, lymph nodes hurt and swollen, sleep disturbances, anxiety or anger issues? feel ok some days and feel crappy others, seem cyclical?

151462 tn?1359172276 I had a liver biopsy yesterday morning. They took two biopsy's. After the procedure I had bleeding in the liver and the muscle. In recovery my BP was getting low, so they put in a IV to give me fluids. They didn't place one before, because there were unable to get a good vein. My BP kept rising and falling while in recovery. They did another ultrasound which showed that the blood wasn't increasing, and I was released to go home. My pain was horrible yesterday and today it is worse.
