Avatar n tn Can this infection cause or result in glocoma and blindness in time.? Will the staph infection always be there and likely to cause problems or will this treatment cure it? How can this be caused? Could a tonometer laid on the cornea to measure presssure which was infected by a previous patient have caused this?
Avatar f tn I would see your doctor and ask for a different type of treatment for it. The Lamisil usually works. As for the Staph it depends on what kind of staph whether it is important or not. So you need to find out which kind. Is it Staph epidermidis or Staph aureus. Ask them about that too. If staph epi then it is just normal bacteria and doesn't need treatment if Staph aureus it depends on how much you have of it.

Avatar f tn You don't normally spread staph aureus or MRSA by hugging because the clothes cover the area. So if the area is covered you should be okay. But I would consult a doctor especially an infectious disease doctor since they are really knowledgeable about these kinds of things over this to calm you down and maybe get a letter of clearance. You should be treated if it is MRSA. But just Staph aureus. If is a large area and is sensitive to antibiotics they may want to treat you.
Avatar n tn You can take a benedryl at night to help sleep and it is an antihistamine too. It is over the counter. I would ask the doctor about your foot. I'm sure it is fungal. You may need something prescription level to get rid of it. Or perhaps it is a staph . She should look at it.
Avatar m tn To answer your questions Impetigo is caused by one or two types of bacteria 90% of the time it is a Staph and the the 10% of the time it can be a Strep type of bacteria. 1. It is contagious by touching it and getting it on your clothes, sheets, towels, counter tops etc. by touching the sores and touching those areas. If you wash your hands after you touch the sores then you should okay. Except that the doctors say to not have contact with other people until the rash or spots clear.
Avatar n tn I tried some Neosporin but that just seemed to make the skin burn more. Its been over a week. I stopped taking the antibiotics on Tuesday and the area has started to dry up. When it was constantly oozing with that snot like film over the area I would use a white sloth to dry it and the stuff that came off would be yellow and sometime even have a green tint to it. The outer edge of this area is starting to dry up and it is leaving a yellow/green crust.......
Avatar m tn She put me on an over the counter antihistamine (Claritin I think) for 3 weeks, and they went away. I suspect that if I'd started on them as soon as the hives started showing up, they would have been gone much sooner.
Avatar f tn Regarding the diarrhea, if it is due to the antibiotic he should start taking probiotics. You can get them over the counter. I billion copies is a good concentration. You can get them on line too. They should have a mixture of "good " bacteria such as bifidobacteria and lactobacillus sp. to repopulation the intestines. I hope he didn't get Clostridium difficile. Does he have bad stomach pains or anything ? I always take the probiotics when I take antibiotics.

Or just google "photo's of canine staph or skin infections on belly area". Avatar n tn ) What happens is, in sensitive people, when they get a (usually) cold virus, it inflames the nerve temporarily (meaning anywhere from a day to 3 weeks) and causes the dizziness. Treatment is aimed at symptoms, usually w/ meclizine, which can be purchased over the counter or by prescription. Also, I've had 2 brain scans (MRI's w/ contrast) and they've both been negative. Think you have to get the scans WHILE the dizziness is going on, if ya wait to long the inflammation goes down.
242516 tn?1368227505 They work by stopping the spread of the virus and if you take the antiviral too late, it's too late to stop the spread, it's already happened. Here are some guidelines on helping differentiate between run of the mill colds and more serious bacterial infections: When do I need antibiotics for a cold, as an adult? Never. Are you sick with a runny nose, sore throat, cough, possibly even goey green and brown stuff coming out?
Avatar m tn The infection itself may be bacterial and the fact that there are blood vessels from the nose to the brain makes it something that may be important to treat. I also have lupus which can make it more likely to happen. There are other situations that can make you more susceptible as well. I usually wait and see if things go away on their own, but this one seems to merit a trip to the doc for an antibiotic, especially since its been bothering me for at least 6mos at this point.
Avatar n tn I have pernicious anemia. The itching would almost drive me crazy. PN is dangerous if left undiagnosed. You need a more intensive blood test than just the usual cbc. If you have it, you just need b-12 injections. No amount of pills will help. Just get this checked, as it will ultimately become deadly.

363110 tn?1340924019 I have extremely itchy bubble-like blisters predominantly on one index finger, but it does appear on other finger & both palms. I also have what appears to be a different type of splotchy rash on my abdomen, forehead, chest, on the side of my left eye & on both ears. At one time I had a rash on my eyelids but this has cleared up. This has been going on for weeks, with varying levels of severity and it seems one area will heal & something new will pop up.
Avatar n tn if you'd like to continue shaving with a razor a home remedy for popping the really sore in grown hairs is to take the skin from inside of an egg shell and place it over the bump and let it harden to your skin. this draws the bump and all the puss and blood to a head, and it will ooze out on it's own.
Avatar m tn Lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes) is usually caused by a viral or bacterial infection along with other numerous causes. Treatment is usually cold compresses, over the counter anti-inflammatory analgesics(pain killers) like acetaminophen or ibuprofen, antibiotics if cause of infection is suspected to be a bacteria and surgical drainage if there is any abscess formation.
Avatar n tn If they are large enough they do leave scars. I have been the doc many times - it is a staph infection, not strep. I have used mupirocin once, but cannot afford the cost. Neosporin seems to work sometimes, so I try to use it daily, but i really need a new cheap alternative. Any idea on over-the-counter medications I could use to effectively treat this? Or any homeopathic or home-remedies I could try? The infections are getting worse as I get older and I need a solution.
Avatar m tn Treatment is usually cold compresses, over the counter anti-inflammatory analgesics(pain killers) like acetaminophen or ibuprofen, antibiotics if cause of infection is suspected to be a bacteria and surgical drainage if there is any abscess formation. Sebaceous cyst is a closed sac that fills with a fatty white, semi-solid material called sebum produced by sebaceous glands of the epidermis. It is usually painless but can become painful if infected. Then antibiotics are needed.

Avatar n tn Lymphadenopathy (swollen lymph nodes) is usually caused by a viral or bacterial infection . In some cases, over-the-counter (OTC) pain relievers and warm compresses may be all you need. For more serious cases, treatment of swollen lymph nodes involves treating the underlying cause usually infections. Other possibility is of boils or furuncle. Boils are caused by infection of the hair follicle by staph aureus.
