infection

Avatar m tn Several months ago i started to have a mild acne on my forehead, I did some exams and came out positive for staph aureus infection and staph epidermidis in two different labs. I took a treatment with antibiotics called ofloxacin 400 mg for ten days, my tests showed to be sensible to this drug. During the treatment the acne almost vanished but after i stopped it the situation was as bad as always.
Avatar f tn Is it Staph epidermidis or Staph aureus. Ask them about that too. If staph epi then it is just normal bacteria and doesn't need treatment if Staph aureus it depends on how much you have of it. If only a few bacteria then they may not treat it but if you have a lot then they will give you an antibiotic. It depends on how what term you are in in your pregnancy if they can give you antibiotics. But the antifungal is a topcial so it should be okay.

Avatar m tn If someone has an infection and has had a full run of antibiotics and has taken the pills exactly as prescribed and hasn't healed, the doctor should prescribe a second run of antibiotics (some infections take longer to heal than the doctor expected). If that has happened and still no positive result, the doctor should change the prescription to a different kind of antibiotic.

Avatar n tn I had a break out in my mouth last week and by Friday I had a sore on the bottom of my foot that woke me up because of the pain shooting up my leg. Went to doctor and he thinks it is a staph infection put me on antibodic and gave me a shot. Told me if it got worse to go to hospital. I have had these same sores for over 8 years and repeated upper respiratory infections.
Avatar n tn i sometimes have to change the dressing at home because it gets too gross. what should I be doing here? The infection has never completely cleared up to a clear drainage, there is always some pus and finally blood----and when I was off antibiotics for only 4 days, I started running a fever again--and felt sick after the nurse stirred things around. I felt fine before I went in. My whole arm and shoulder seem to be slightly tender--but the cellulitis is gone.
Avatar n tn Could the swollen lymph node be a sign of something more serious, such as a staph infection? I have a 10 month old baby and an immunocompromised 6 year old and am concerned that if it is a form of staph or something similar and I inadvertently infect them it cause serious problems with their health. I am also concerned about developing some type of systemic infection. Thank you for your input/advice.
453284 tn?1205793544 My fiance has Cystic Fibrosis, in the past few months its seems as though he was getting worse, well he just went for his regular check up and they told him that he has staph infection in his lungs. Is this going to hurt him bad? Will he get through this? How can they treat this? This will make the cystic fibrosis worse, won't it?
Avatar f tn I cut my left hand at the knuckle of the 2nd finger and to the right of that, received a total of 9 stitches on 12/5/08. I went to have them removes a week later, was put on Keflex for 10 days, stitches stayed in for another week. I am suppose to get them out again tomorrow. The ones on the knuckle area are still very painful, red and swollen. If the stitches are removed tomorrow, with the redness, pain and swelling, is there a chance this will force the suture line open?

According to the doctors, it’s a fairly common hospital-acquired infection, but what’s bad about this particular ‘strain’ is that it’s somewhat drug-resistant.
Avatar m tn Hello, Since you are having staph infection, so if your girlfriend has been diagnosed with staph infection then chances are there that the infection got transmitted during physical contact like sexual contact or skin to skin contact. It is very surprising that the infection has not shown much results with antibiotics, In such cases, it is advisable to get the culture sample from the sores and a biopsy skin done which will confirm the diagnosis.
Avatar m tn I would just be extra cautious if you have any injury and are at swimming pools or gyms. Apparently staph likes these environments plus hospitals have occasional outbreaks of staph infections. Sorry, maybe I am paranoid since reading the book "The Killers Within"....
