Common Questions and Answers about Sonata sleep medication

sonata

Avatar m tn I've searched the web and here and no really good answer. I'm taking a Sonata about 3 or 4 oclock in the morning. It does cause some jitters next day. Now I've started Sam-e and a Super Beta Complex and the Jitters are unbearable. I take some Xanax and it helps some. I can't take much and still function. The question is ... Is it the Sam-e or the Super B Complex causing the extreme jitters or anxiety?

1580703 tn?1651904887 hi! I've discovered that to treat my crippling sleep breathing disease I need to use an alpha GABA agonist like klonopin or ambien. is there a medication that is even better like clorazapete or GABA acid OTC? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GABA_receptor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GABA_agonist what does this mean, which disease do I have? Thanks!
Avatar f tn For long term use they are best avoided, and besides you may develop tolerance to the medication. So, try weaning away from them and slowly try to adopt good sleep hygiene measures to promote sleep. Also, being overweight can worsen the osteoarthritis, so to begin with try light exercises like walking and then gradually build up under the guidance of a physiotherapist. This will help control weight and further promote sleep. Hope this helped and Do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn My doctor prescribed be Sonata which helps me sleep. This helps you get to sleep without becoming addicting like Ambien. I hope this helps!
1580703 tn?1651904887 I started clonezepam for my sleep apnea, I twitch all the time in my leg/arm before I fall asleep and I seem to have slept well even without bipap once I felt this urge to write something and I started twitching like I had a seizure for a few minutes
Avatar n tn re having trouble falling asleep or going back to sleep if you wake up during the night. My doc prescribed Sonata. Amusingly, it works great as a placebo: I haven't taken a single pill yet; just knowing it's there if I need it has been enough so far. Good luck!
701713 tn?1228363498 It's been many years that i've had to take medication in order to sleep. The restless legs began before my fibro dx, then developed into periodic limb movement disorder. I take one xanax to relax me and make me sleepy, then I take one trazadone in order to stay asleep. It is the only thing i've found that helps me sleep through the night. I pray you find a solution soon, as you need good sleep so your body can restore itself. Take care.
Avatar m tn Anyway, when I took it to the pharmacy, all of the medications was controlled substances, percocet, sonata, and diclofenac. I was shcoked but the pharmacist tech already scanned it and I trust the FNP. I always go to this same pharmacy and never had a problem filling my prescriptions and my disabled problem. The pharmacist was even willing to fill the diclofenac at the time. I decline and told her I would pick them up Monday when all 3 were ready and I this didn't fill right.
Avatar m tn Hi peoples. Back again, sorry. I see that you good folks know something about sleeping problems. I've had those for years. Can't get to sleep, then in the morning don't want to wake up. I don't mean I don't get "unsleepy", I mean consciousness isn't to be desired. That's a different thing.
Avatar n tn ) I feel it is wrong (unhealthy and depressing) to go around being exhausted due to the sleep issues. I feel because my lifestyle is so different, and because I am attempting to exercise etc., that my decision to stop Tamoxifen is reasonable. I know that many women quit taking Tamoxifen -- but it is hard to find research on that topic! Thanks, LMHR.
Avatar f tn My question is regarding my experience with anziety medication. My first was Valium a very low dose, it worked great, on a as needed basis. I was also taking Zoloft and the two combined was perfect. That doctor ended her practice and I ended up at a different dr. who prescribed me ativan and Zoloft, would not prescribe me the valium. Adventually I came off the Zoloft due to the side effects.
Avatar f tn I am depressed over this as well as postpartum issues and have just been put on Celexa for anxiety and depression as well as Sonata for sleep by a recommended psychiatrist. The Sonata is too short-acthing though. I called the doc on call but he does not want to prescribe anything stronger until tomorrow, if adding melatonin and/or benadryl does not help. I am currently wearing a holter monitor and have also worn en event monitor recently.
Avatar m tn Anyway I have been with this replaced doctor for a yr and a half, I had been explaining to him that 2 vicaprofen in a 24 hour period is not sufficient he by the way had taken me off the motrin and changed my Xanax to Ativan. I also have been on sonata 10 mg for all these yrs. I was given a urine test which is pretty normal, before I took it I told him that there would prob. not be hydrocodone in it as we had been discussing that I needed more pain relief.
Avatar f tn Lol that's what I love when I play like in this moment and such hard rock the baby goes crazy and kicks hard lol
Avatar n tn my dr just put me on sonata for sleep and i am being treated for add w/ritalin,lamictal for bpd, wellbrutrin depression, and nerourotin for nerve pain and a few days ago i started grinding my teeth together, looks like i am chewing gum all the time and i also am making grunting sounds.
Avatar f tn I have a real problem with insomnia I went to the doctor last week and got Sonata for sleep and I asked for clonadine because I knew that I would be out of pills this week and would be having w/d sysptoms. He did not want to give me that he gave me klonapin instead.. I have not told him I have a problem with pills. The sonata is not working for my insomnia so I have made an another appt to see him this week to see if I can get the clonadine.
1205076 tn?1310609559 I also take Effexor XR, Wellbutrin, Lopid, tessalon perle, sonata, robaxin, nexium (for 3 months now), benicar, toprol XR, Ultram, Lyrica, aspirin, I cannot take NSAIDs anymore due to an acute kidney failure 2 years ago. I tell you all of the background so you will know all the variables. I have a sleep study on Mar 1, but I was hoping to hear a suggestion as to what it might be before that. Thank you.
4333925 tn?1359102442 It takes awhile for you to be able to sleep well after treatment. Normally I can sleep and have never had to take anything to sleep before this treatment. Sleeping problems don't run in my family and after treatment I was wide awake and waking up after sleeping Just a short time. When I felt comfortable, I started taking half the dose for a week then quarter the dose for another week. Ambien didn't seem like a highly addictive medication to stop taking.
603015 tn?1329862973 You didn't say what you were on as a sleep aide. Sonata and Ambien are for short term use only. Lunesta can be used safely everyday. Rozerem works in the same manner as melatonin and actually adjusts the sleep cycle. That can be taken everyday and might get your sleep cycle more in order.
Avatar f tn I am week 14 dont sleep more than 4 hours in one night day time eyes wont shut physicall drained so very tired. I was given ambien at week 9 or so It is 10 milgram. I am at point i feel liek i am so wek even though I eat and drink ic ant go does this afect any one else.
Avatar f tn The Z sleep meds, (Ambien & Sonata) can be hard to taper off due to their relatively short half life. Talk to your doctor about using a Dr Ashton style taper where you switch to valium & taper off that which should help minimize the side effects you experience. Your GABA receptors have become tolerant to these drugs & it won't get any better if you continue with them but you should be able to taper very slowly using valium without too much discomfort.
