I have techniques - pressure point, quickie relaxation, how to challenge certain thinking patterns, etc. The social anxiety will always be there, it's just a matter of how well I am able to live with its existence at any given time. Avatar f tn I have always struggled with some strange form of social anxiety/low self esteem, and could never quite get to the root of it. Interestingly enough, because I have out of neccessity developed a very high sensitivity for cognitively picking up on social cues, I am able to perform quite well, if not thrive, in cross cultural scenarios. Some other cultures embrace ideas such as being forthwrite in general and also apprehensive about new people, etc., which suits me.
Avatar f tn In my mind I know that this is not the way I should be feeling but I just can't seem to overcome these feelings. I've tried relaxation and breathing techniques which do seem to help but as soon I go somewhere or see someone I start to panic again and I start to feel shaky and nervous. I've tried medication but it made me feel worse. I've also been having alot of weird thoughts pop into my head even though I am not thinking of them which is really scary to me.

So, I know I haven't been dealing with this as long as a lot of people, and I know that the SSRI medications usually take 4-6 weeks to even kick in...

I had what I think was a panic attack, It felt like my body was in slow motion, and my sense of touch was really delayed. It was the scariest thing I have ever experienced. The high I felt was insane and my body was numb all over. After feeling this way for 4-5 days it finally went away. Or so I thought!

Avatar m tn Most commonly psychological treatment tried is counseling, relaxation techniques and sometimes cognitive behavior therapy. ************** depends upon treating the underlying depressive illness through anti-anxiety or anti-depressant medicines. In addition, try to rest in a dark & quiet room, meditate, have a balanced diet, regularly exercise and avoid taking unnecessary non-prescription drugs to avoid recurrence of symptoms. Hope this helps!!
