If my memory serves me correctly, MikeS is taking statins and he had a TP. He is far more knowledgeable on the subject than I am and hopefully he will see this post and give his input. Zetia is part of a class of drugs called cholesterol absorption inhibitors.

Avatar n tn was on lipitor for 5 months and switched two weeks ago to simvastatin in hopes of less side effects. just got some blood work done and the liver enzymes are elevated about one and a half times normal. does anyone know if its normal to see a spike in liver enzymes after switching statins or does this mean my body is rejecting the new statin?

I have tested twice since on Simvatstain alone and my numbers have actually dropped a little than during my Vytorin days. I might be wrong, maybe someone else can help Also normally warnings will come with the medication to say you should not take if you have liver or kidney problems.
Avatar m tn Last May, I was diagnosed of Fatty Liver, so I was prescribed to take Godex and Simvastatin. After a month, my blood test rose from 81 U/L to 271 U/L and my SGOT which was previously normal rose to 75 U/L. My intake of simvastatin was immediately stopped due to suspected sensitivity which caused a dramatic liver enzyme elevation. I'm hoping for a decrease in the level of my liver enzymes following the LCD. What bothers me is the Godex. Please advice!
Avatar m tn on the contrary studies on these cheap and generic durgs are not funded by drug makers, on the contrary we see stupid doctors without trials or studies saying now that these drugs can make liver damage while it is the opposite. only less than 1% has effects on liver and my question is how many drugs have less than 1% effect on liver..........
