Sertraline therapy

Common Questions and Answers about Sertraline therapy

zoloft

Avatar f tn Have you considered therapy? Many people can handle their depression with therapy alone.
Avatar f tn I also agree that you need to give the 100mg some more time. It's not unusual for a med to take another 4-6 weeks to reach peak effectiveness, after a dosage increase. The good news is, you're seeing some very positive results....so I think it's fair to say that the Zoloft wilkl work well for you. Have you started any therapy?
Avatar f tn Here we ago again back on sertraline took it months back couldn't get it up gotta try be polite incase kids on here lol pee a lot feels like I was drunk chest pains but this time I'm going to fight all the side effects I have this time as saying goes got to go through the worse to get better need to make steps now before anxiety rules my life anymore
Avatar f tn Its most helpful effects for my BPD symptoms were that it allowed me to fully participate in DBT therapy and skills training. Before, I would frequently get too anxious or depressed to go to therapy, so I never made it all the way through a program.
Avatar n tn Just a random thought. Should you go through therapy while on medication or not? I ask because I am seeing a psychologist next week to try and put a stop to my anxiety and my primary doctor wants me to start on Sertraline(Zoloft) and stop my Ativan. I was curious because I was wondering if you should be experiencing some anxiety (even though it's a terrible feeling) while going through therapy so you can learn how to challenge it and beat.
Avatar f tn m going to be seeing a psychotherapist in a few weeks who will help me with talk therapy. So should I just wait and try the talk therapy while continuing the Seroquel, or should I start Pristiq too? Thanks!
Avatar m tn Thanks for responding. I have been an Addict For twenty years, and have done cognitive behaviour therapy in the past.I dealt with a lot of issues at that time. I had a really bad experience coming off these meds. Just like a cold turkey without meds!! That finished after a couple of weeks. I started to feel good then, all of a sudden, i started to get the full range of symptoms again. They are nowhere near as bad as the initial withdrawal, i must admit, but they are there.
1171357 tn?1285851820 I have been going through treatment now for over 6 months. I am getting both verbal therapy and prescriptions. The verbal therapy has really shed a lot of light on my life and why things are the way they are and how to cope with my problems. The problem that I am having is with my medication. I have tried flouxetine, sertraline, abilify, paroxetine now bupropion.

225237 tn?1333138999 I think therapy especially cognitive behavioral therapy really helps. Just stay positive and work on tools for your anxiety.
5467587 tn?1370008547 So, as nowhopefull said, give it some time. Sertraline is one of the more rapidly acting ADs but ALL of them take time to work. This is just my opinion, but I would definitely give it a few more weeks. If you are really feeling anxious right now, you may want to discuss with your doctor using a mild, SHORT TERM benzo until the Zoloft kicks in fully. If you use the smallest dose possible and only for a few weeks, there will be no need to taper.
Avatar f tn Many people are under the assumption that psychs are the ones they would be getting their therapy from, when in actuality, therapy usually involves a psychologist while the p-doc sees you for 5 minutes once a month for medication visits. That also could be what your doctor was referring to. What I really liked was the practice I went to contained both the p-doc and the therapist. It was like one stop shopping, and the two could compare notes, sharing my progress or problems with each other.
Avatar n tn I have BPD and am on Depakote, which is dangerous to the fetus, sertraline and am doing 12 months skills for living therapy as well as high blood pressure, pressure type 2 diabetes and a cyst on muscle ovary that's been there for 3 years. Anyhow as the heading says I'm on the waiting list for a tubal sterilisation but I'd love to be pregnant again. Only thing is my husband is dead against it.
Avatar f tn Sertraline for two weeks at the beginning with propranolol But symptoms relief with inderal only
Avatar m tn Hi guys! For around a month now I have been on Sertraline, and while I at first only experienced some minor(ish) side effects (such as teeth grinding) I feel I'm actually getting more side effects now? The main two side effects I have noticed are real difficulty sleeping and my stomach lately has been frequently gurgling/bubbling and I do feel slight pain there. To be fair I do suffer from IBS but it is only an issue when I'm anxious.
Avatar m tn Are these two drugs compatable levothyroxine and sertraline hcl? Does your thyroid control your blood sugar?
Avatar m tn Does your therapist help with the thought process, as in does he / she give you techniques to try and help you deal with the fears? How to take it one step at a time? It soulds like you are regressing not progressing which means that maybe you need a change in therapy technqiues or a change in therapist completely.
Avatar m tn If medications alone are not helping in overcoming trichitilliomania, then cognitive behavior therapy, response to behavior therapy etc helps modify your action whenever you have an urge to pull hair. The subconscious mind is targeted to help avoid hair pulling that you do at a subconscious level. Please discuss with your doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar m tn I'm a 30yr old male. I was on Sertraline approx 10 years ago for depression and it seemed to work until a crash. For one reason or another over the years, my treatment has changed several times. It is 2011 and i have found my way back to sertraline. I am currently taking 10mg of buspirone 2x day and 15mg of mirtazapine for major depression and generalized anxiety. I have been feeling constantly tired, apathetic and despondent.
Avatar m tn I stopped the Lexapro and started on 25mg Sertraline for 4 days then up to 50mg. The first week and a half were incredibly difficult. Every side effect imaginable I was having, and I also was panicking and super anxious. At the two week point (which was 4 days ago I started to feel myself again). The next day I woke up kind of foggy and was like that the majority of the day but lightened up towards the end of the day.

Avatar m tn I have had migraines for the past 20 years, normally I experience 3 or 4 migraines a year but since I have been taking Sertraline I have had many more than usual. I am sure that it is the Sertraline because I normally take it before bed and have woke up several mornings with the leftover pain from the migraine I had while sleeping ( before Sertraline I have never had a migraine during the night ).
Avatar f tn Ive been suffering with a bad illness recently which ive been thinking i had hiv or something i started on 50 mg sertraline a week ago and i can feel my lymph nodes seem to have decreased slighty in size ! Can this happen ? Do you think the meds have done this ?
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, three months ago I started with pgad, which is a condition that you feel unwanted sexual arousal, it is horrible, I couldn't even sleep, at some moments It goes away and others it will return. I went to more than 12 different doctors, anyone knew what was happening. I have ocd, this year is going to be my 5th year with ocd and with anxiety, with despersonalization and irreality.
