Sertraline withdrawal tapering

Common Questions and Answers about Sertraline withdrawal tapering

zoloft

Avatar m tn I am trying to ween off of this drug, I tried quiting in March and had terrible withdrawal symptoms, so when I went back on I started back at half the dosage, 50mg. In April I started taking 25mg/day for 4 weeks, then 12.5mg/day for 4 weeks, then half of that for 4 weeks and now I haven't taken any for 2 weeks. After about 3 days I started feeling sick on my stomach, and it felt like my kidneys hurt, blurred vision, not being able to sleep good, aching at times like I have the flu.
Avatar m tn Last year I had depression for which I was prescribed Sertraline, Amisulpride, Venlafaxine, and Clonazepam. Now all other drugs are stopped except Sertraline and Clonazepam. I am tapering clonazepam. Problem Throbbing in the right half of head and palpitations for which I am talking propanol 20mg TDS for last 2 months. Sometimes associated with sweating, hot flushes. There is no vomiting, though sometimes I get a headache. Palpitations are more at bed time or whenever I try to take rest.
Avatar n tn We had decided that maybe I had developed a resistance to the Effexor XR, so we were tapering off while putting me on Brintellix. Started Brintellix 7 months ago with 75 mg Effexor XR. Turned out Brintellix was a poor med for me... Dr. started me on 100mg Sertraline 10 days ago and told me if I was tolerating it to go up to 200mg, which I did 4 days later (6 days ago). I also stopped the Brintellix cold. Still on Effexor XR.
1910757 tn?1348683319 As I said, I cannot really advise you on which medication is right for you, only you can decide if you want to continue with Sertraline. But, read the posts about withdrawal from Effexor first. I am on Effexor and it suits me, but then I am on it long term. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on. Remember people here really care about each other, and we like people to keep in touch and tell us how they are doing.
Avatar f tn Hey Y’all, wondering how long it takes to feel normal(functional)after quitting sertraline. Quick story, I started about 3 years ago on sertraline, on and off. Prescribed for depression, social anxiety, I developed this for no apparent reason. Couldn’t pin point why I was feeling this way. Overtime it helped make me functional as a person with work, relationships, grinding everyday to be the best. It had side effects. Mostly weight gain, some sexual dysfunction. Trouble ejaculating.
Avatar m tn But the idea of having to go through this again terrifies me. Is it withdrawal or could it be my anxiety is just coming back with a vengeance due to the long term treatment of sertraline? Any help or guidence would be appreciated. I have an appointment Wed, but I hope I just don't lose my mind by then. I'm a 49 year old male who has had Panic disorder since my mid 20s. Thank you for listening.
Avatar m tn It seems the side effects of that are very similar to withdrawal symptoms? Like i said i was getting symptoms before i started the Sertraline. In hindsight though it does seem to have gotten worse. Just let me add, when i went to my doctor it was more for my physical symptoms than mental ones. I have always suffered from Insomnia, probably due to my long term drug use, and have learned to cope with it.
Avatar m tn Hello Ireland from UK. I took 150mg Sertraline once daily. I am on a different drug, but still take 150mg in one go. No problem with that. Your new doctor is right.
Avatar m tn I have always heard that Paxil was a drug that no one should be on so I talked to my doctor about switching. He decided that Sertraline may work for me. He had me stop Paxil for two days and then begin taking Setraline 25 mg for two days and then upping it to 50 mg. I began feeling terrible. Increased heart rate, drowsiness, pressure in the front of my head, occasional dizziness and seeing visual flashes of light (just a quick flicker) at certain times of the day.
Avatar f tn hi hope you can help me i am currently on 100mg of sertraline ,but feel it isnt helping me anymore my gp says i have to take 50mg every day for 2 weeks ,then 50mg evry other day for 2 weeks then i can start on prozac is this ok as i feel that i will be more anxiuos waiting 4 weeks, for new meds ,my gp isnt very sympathetic and just says thats how it is!!!
9457360 tn?1404068785 Hey....listen....I don't think the above post was trying to call you a failure...We, as addicts, tend to not like pain! lol, I know I sure don't! And yes, withdrawal is HARD as ****! Tapering might be a better way to go for you but a lot of us did quit C/T, I did personally and was sick for 30 days!
Avatar f tn I have been slowly tapering over the last 6 from 156 and I am now at 7mg. I was dropping 1mg a week and was down to 6 but had to go back up to 9mg and then started coming down again. I was going through some depression at the time and was not sure if that added to the withdrawal symptoms. I am continuing to taper but slowed down to every 2 weeks. I am curious if I continue at this rate how bad my withdrawal symptoms will be.
Avatar f tn 5 milligram valium I took at least three a day but I would break them up in halves I literally did not have any withdrawal symptoms except for I had no energy I mean in the past I tried to stop like twice cold turkey and I'm telling you it was the worst pain ever with the sweats the diarrhea restless legs not being able to sleep at all at night because you can't get comfortable cause your body is just aching but the valium I took for at least 5 days and I had no withdrawal symptoms the
Avatar m tn I stopped the Lexapro and started on 25mg Sertraline for 4 days then up to 50mg. The first week and a half were incredibly difficult. Every side effect imaginable I was having, and I also was panicking and super anxious. At the two week point (which was 4 days ago I started to feel myself again). The next day I woke up kind of foggy and was like that the majority of the day but lightened up towards the end of the day.
Avatar f tn My sertraline tablets recently stopped working so well and the GP switched me straight on to fluoxetine. It was a complete nightmare, withdrawal from sertraline plus the side effects from fluoxetine took me to the most terrifying place. I then stopped all ssris and have not had any for 17 days. The first week was awful but then I started to improve, I seemed to get my energy back and I could go out and do things, this was short lived.
Avatar f tn I also discovered I have a severe vitamin D deficiency. My doc prescribed vitamin D2 50,000IU and Sertraline(25mg). I have been on the Sertraline for a week now, but my reaction to the medication is different this time around. I'm experiencing insomnia, tingling sensations in my hands and head, nausea, feeling spaced out and a lower mood. Does the same SSRI work the second time around? Could I be having these side effects because 25mg is too high of a dose for me?
Avatar m tn Has anyone tapered Zoloft while in the middle of a benzo taper (but on hold from the taper?) I have been tapering valium since June last year (did crossover from Klonopin/Ashton method) and started Zoloft in June (25mg) and upped it to 50mg in August. I have held the valium taper since August due to diarrhea and decided to taper zoloft but now I am not sure which to taper first. I am at 6.5mg valium down from 12.5mg (was c/t in August also from 9mg and reinstated to 7mg almost immediately).
Avatar m tn I am tapering down from at least 4 - 7.5 mg Vicodin and several 12.8 codiene phosphate to about 4 Vicodin per day. I am waking with terrible shahes and nausea as wall as other problems. O am trying the therapy of medicines recommended on this site. This is about my 3rd day of tapering. Should I take a Vicodin first thing to help out. I can't stand this feeling.
Avatar f tn 8/500 for I year taking over 45 tablets a day after experiencing the worst feeling ever last Friday I decided to go gp and get help she has put me on 75mg codiene 5 times a day which is half of what I was taking I started this new regime yesterday but today am experiencing withdrawal symptoms does this last long with tapering TIA
Avatar f tn I am coming down gradually off my anti-depressants, i was on 100mg of sertraline and im now on 50mg and trying to come off them altogether. So far im coping ok, i thought that coming down would unblock my emotions and allow me to feel my emotions instead of them being numbed, but so far i only feel a bit more emotional and still find it hard to cry. I would love to just have a good crying spell to get all the heavy sadness i feel out!
Avatar f tn In addition, she claimed that it could be a sign for a deeper matter, which explained why she diagnosed I was going through recurrent depression and gave me SERTRALINE (ZOLOFT), plus GABAPENTINE. She promised that I would sleep just fine. Guess what? I could not sleep more than 40 hours straight with only 2 days on sertraline. The good side was the racing thoughts stopped completely (but I was wondering whether it was sertraline work or because flunarizine's side effect was off).
Avatar n tn Im on oxycodone 40mg daily and fentanyl patches 50mcg plus 20mg oxycontin before bed, i have REDUCED everything and now just taking the patch and the oxycontin (during the day when i feel bad) i feel lethargic. If I taper down will my body get used to the new dose and the withdrawal go or will the withdrawal only stop once i have truly stopped everything ? My plan was to lower the drugs then when my body gets used to the new dose and i feel normal then to lower some more...
Avatar m tn m currently going through Zoloft withdrawals and have many of the typical Zoloft withdrawal symptoms. I was just wondering if taking a Vicodin will interfere with the recovery of my Zoloft withdrawal? Could I have done any permanent brain damage from taking a Vicodin since my brain is in recovery mode? This is the first Vicodin I have taken since I stopped taking the Zoloft.
255163 tn?1376869746 I have been takimg 50mg zoloft for 16 days. If I stop cold turkey, will I get withdrawal symptoms or should I taper off. I am also on .5mg klonipin 2x daily. I appreciate any advice.
