Sertraline ssri

Common Questions and Answers about Sertraline ssri

zoloft

Avatar m tn i believe so i'm on an old tryclic a d like amitripiline and on an ssri Prozac ( sertraline is another SSRI type drug i believe) as well in order to augment the treatment, both prescribed by my GP. This should be something you run by them but using the similiar logic for me you'd think that it would think it sounds fine.
Avatar f tn I also discovered I have a severe vitamin D deficiency. My doc prescribed vitamin D2 50,000IU and Sertraline(25mg). I have been on the Sertraline for a week now, but my reaction to the medication is different this time around. I'm experiencing insomnia, tingling sensations in my hands and head, nausea, feeling spaced out and a lower mood. Does the same SSRI work the second time around? Could I be having these side effects because 25mg is too high of a dose for me?
Avatar f tn thanks for sharing your experiences - hub started on wellbutrin before starting tx because of his experiences last time. Worked at first, but didn't address anxiety hence the addition of ativan. THAT combo worked for a couple of weeks and we really thought we had the answer, but then he had a really bad experience with overwhelming anxiety one night and he had to try something else ( the ssri ). He didn't want to take the ssri but it seems to be the only thing that helps.
Avatar m tn I am on Sertraline and other antidepressants for many years. I just had sexual intercourse 1 year back and cannot feel any sensation in my penis. I have had sex around 20 times in the last one year as I have an on/off gf. I have no problem in getting an erection. There is very little sensation of pleasure and mild sensation of some heat in the vagina during intercourse. I cannot change the anti depressants , like moving to Welbutrin. Please advise if I can take anything before intercourse.
Avatar n tn ll see new warnings not to combine tamoxifen with certain SSRIs..paroxetine, fluoxetine, and sertraline. .... Women have a higher risk of breast cancer recurrence if they take tamoxifen along with paroxetine, fluoxetine, or sertraline... but NOT citalopram, escitalopram, or fluvoxamine. .....About 30% of women on tamoxifen also take an SSRI for depression or hot flashes. FDA will add new warnings..
Avatar m tn After a few years my doctor switched me to Sertraline, and for the first time , I began to get tremor, an annoying peri-oral sensation with some mild jaw tremor and severe bruxism. That was 2 years ago. After quitting sertraline, all these went away, but the depression came back, so I tried Moclobemide, ending up with ever more severe side effects and more anxiety as well.
Avatar m tn Now I have been taking SSRI (Zoloft/sertraline) for a month and a half, and have had three outbreaks since I started. Obviously I suspect a connection. I had a period of very frequent (every other week) outbreaks a couple of years ago - although I had had herpes for many years already then. When thinking about it, I wonder if it could have been at the time that I was taking SSRIs (Cipramil/citalopram) the last time...
Avatar f tn You know wondering if you take a chronic med as well. Like an SSRI? That helps my son need the propanolol less and take that slightly lower dose. Have you tried any therapy?
Avatar f tn My sertraline tablets recently stopped working so well and the GP switched me straight on to fluoxetine. It was a complete nightmare, withdrawal from sertraline plus the side effects from fluoxetine took me to the most terrifying place. I then stopped all ssris and have not had any for 17 days. The first week was awful but then I started to improve, I seemed to get my energy back and I could go out and do things, this was short lived.
Avatar m tn Am currently on sertraline 100mg, which helps for anxiety and depression but not PE. Have tried start and stop technique's (edging) for about a year with no improvement. Myself and my partner do not have relationship problems, but she is not always supportive on the PE front, some of her comments have made the situation much worse What would you recommend?
Avatar n tn Zoloft (Sertraline Hydrochloride) is in a completely different family of medications. It is a SSRI Antidepressant. SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) is a class of antidepressants. It can be prescribed for several conditions but it is not an opiate. Percocet (oxycodone) is an opiate. It is prescribed to control pain. Some ppl take the two drugs concurrently. This question should be directed at your prescribing physician or your local pharmacist.
Avatar m tn 750 mg of levaquen for 28 days. but this is what i read. The selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) sertraline (ZOLOFT), widely prescribed for depression, has been associated with a decrease in the effect of levothyroxine. i take zolaft 100 mg daily. i still have testi pain and burning. i am now bieng treated with diflucan for 7 days for a yeast infection. should i be worried. do u think my ngu was wiped out. i was bieng treated for resistant ngu.
Avatar f tn t want me to rely on Xanax just to get me through the first weeks use of Sertraline, because of the risk of addiction and overuse. i discontinued my Sertraline tonight. there is no way i can live a "a few weeks" (a dreadful eternity) with a severe tremor until the medication "kicks in". why should i be asked to suffer after already so much suffering?
Avatar f tn Sertraline is prone to affect your heart. When I was on it I was monitored with ECG. I am now on a different anti-depressant. Prozac did not agree with me at all and it made me hyper active with terrible anxiety. Do you think prozac is causing these problems? Unlikely it is withdrawal from Sertraline after 2 months. You should discuss this with your doctor. Your prozac dosage is very low, so it is probably not that. Nevertheless, what you are feeling is a worry.
Avatar m tn Short answer: Yes it is safe. Long answer: Vicodin contains paracetamol & hydrocodone, and Zoloft contains sertraline. paracetamol is a non-opioid analgesic, hydrocodone is an opioid, and sertaline is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). These classes of drug do not react with each other.
Avatar m tn pls ask ur psychiatrist if ssris like sertraline are ok ?
Avatar f tn Some common SSRIs include fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine and sertraline. The study listed other pharmacologic treatments for skin picking, such as inositol, clomipramine, doxepin, inositol, lamotrigine, olanzapine, naltrexone and riluzole. In addition, the study suggested that the prescription medication worked best if combined with cognitive-behavioral therapy. Read more: http://www.livestrong.
94902 tn?1330479667 Just wondering if anyone is pregnant and taking either Zoloft (sertraline) or Toprol XL (metaporpolol). I currently take both - one for anxiety and the other because I have PVCs and tachycardia (which causes the anxiety). I am now estimated 6 weeks pregnant, and am having to make the decision about wether or not to come off my meds. I am in the process of weighing my pros and cons, but wonder if any other moms have been on any meds while pregnant. I would appreciate any input.
Avatar n tn hi guys i need to ask you about sertraline ,anxiety drug, my doctor prescribed me at the begining with one 25 mg tablet a day, and after 2 weeks two tablets of 25 mg (50mg ), and after that he advised me to start taking 4 tablets bring it up to 100 mg sertraline a day. i stoped this drug for 2 months and yesterday i decided to take it but the last prescription the pharmacy made each tablet 100 mg.
1305597 tn?1275336446 in the SSRI family: citalopram (celexa), fluoxetine (prozac), sertraline (zoloft). Another medication that is sometimes added to SSRI in the treatment of depression is bupropion (welbutrin) and it has even been shown to cause a small weight loss over the first few months (it suppresses the appetite).
Avatar f tn I was put on fluoxetine, but that sent me manic and was horrible. My doctor then put me on sertraline 50mg which I was on for about 2 months. The depression totally subsided and the anxiety has been really bad. I was given some diazepam for the anxiety and had to take 2x2mg tablets during an anxiety attack, and went back to my GP who increased my dose to 100mg. This was a week ago.
Avatar f tn I started taking Sertraline. Its been 3 weeks now. I am on 50mg for 3 days now and I can't sleep at night. If I try to sleep I wake up and can't even stay asleep for more than 2 hours. During these episodes I feel anxious and out of control. Is this normal. Has anyone ever experienced this before on Sertraline. If so what did you do to help yourself. I am a mother of 4 and a full time student.. I am under so much stress and worry even more so since this Covid19 Pandemic.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, I need so advice on what I can do or take to help increase my sex drive. I am 31 yrs old and take a 100mg of Sertraline (a generic for Zoloft) everyday and I have no sex drive. My husband is understanding but getting impatient! I am even getting impatient!! I don't want to switch meds because these work for me. I am wondering if anyone has the same problem and what they are doing to help them. Are there any supplements I can take with these meds to help?
Avatar m tn Zoloft is an SSRI serotonin re-uptake inhibitor- you should NOT take same-e or 5htp with these type of drugs, or you risk a dangerous condition called serotonin overload which can be fatal. Never take zoloft with any MAO inhibitor as well. Do not take tyrosine either, as Zoloft (Sertraline) also acts as a dopamine reuptake inhibitor. You must gradually withdrawal from zoloft before using any other serotonin and dopamine boosting drugs or amino acid supplements.
5371853 tn?1367025372 In your opinion, is a SSRI or serotogenic drug a better remedy for sudden clinical depression for a woman? I am in therapy, I also practice MMA and jog daily. My diet is superb, my sleep is fairly regular. I feel intense dread for no reason. I have considered starting birth control to stabilize my hormones, would this help since estrogen as stored in fat cells?
534360 tn?1234721915 i have for a few months now developed night sweats, but i also started taking sertraline around the same sort of time i developed these night sweats and i'm not sure if my anxiety is making all my symptoms worse. I am almost always tired thought the day but can't sleep well at night. i haven't lost any weight if anything i've gained. i have a docs appointment booked for monday just wanted some opinions 1st. what else could it be??
1219946 tn?1266758528 This is a very old post, so you might get more answers if you start a new one. The above is incorrect, wellbutrin is an antidepressant, not a pick me up. It is stimulating, but so are snris, so it's not the best for anxiety. And the above is completely wrong about withdrawal and how to treat it -- going to another drug even in the same class does not do anything about withdrawal as they target different receptors.
Avatar n tn Not all SSRI (like Paxil) cause weight gain for all patients. But one study suggested that there might be differences in weight gain due to the different types of SSRI. Paroxetine (Paxil) may be more likely cause a significant weight gain than other drugs of this type (like fluoxetine or sertraline). Studies about citalopram found no significant weight changes for most patients (but a minority of about 5% of the patients had a weight gain of more than 5 kg).
Avatar m tn I decided to go to psychiatrist and so she saw severe anxiety and gave me ssri antidepressant escitalopram which made me a lot worse, my heart rate was 90-100 even when i wanted to go to sleep. Now she wants to put me on mirtazapine and i just can't understand how it can work because its serotonin and norepinephrine reuptaker, so how it will reduce my anxiety if i will have more norepinephrine in my blood, i thought they will block it, not increase it.
