Common Questions and Answers about Sertraline pregnancy category

zoloft

Avatar n tn I took 50 mg of sertraline (zoloft) throughout my entire pregnancy and breastfed! And My baby boy is 4 now and I had no problems what so ever with being on it while pregnant and it didn't affect my son. I know ppl that switch to zoloft during their pregnancy. There are risks, BUT they are very low! Its a class B drug. I have a friend that is weaning off of another drug and switching to zoloft so she can become pregnant again!
Avatar f tn It does NOT contain HCG and therefore will NOT affect the results of a pregnancy test. I started sertraline (Zololft) when I was breastfeeding my last baby and became pregnant this time while taking it. I am currently 16 weeks pregnant. While there have not been any major studies done as to the affects of sertraline and pregnancy, it is one of the more commonly prescribed antidepressant meds by ob doctors because there has not been a defiante link made to issues with the fetus.
Avatar f tn I am on day 16 of taking 50mg sertraline after switching from cymbalta to try and find a saferdrug to try for pregnancy. Week one I was emotional but that settled down and week two was manageable and i felt generally calmer. However by day 14 anxiety smptoms worsened and i am feeling flushed in the face and tingly in arms and waking early feeling unable to cope with nerves and sweating. Should I stick it out?
612551 tn?1450022175 t seem to get much help and I think it was making my sleeping problems worse. I then went to Sertraline (Zoloft) and have been on a half dose for 9 days (25 mg) and will go to full dose of 50 mg on day 10. The side effects seem to add to my fatigue, which I already had due to grief/bereavement. I haven't given up on Sertraline as I'm yet to have a run at full dose.
Avatar f tn I also have severe anxiety but my doctor placed me on a pregnancy safe anti depressant and it does wonders! It's called sertraline ask about it at your next appointment it is very helpful.
Avatar f tn Pregnancy Category D is a stronger warning than a pregnancy Category C classification. However, a pregnancy Category D medicine may still be given to a pregnant woman if the health care provider believes that the benefits to the woman outweigh the possible risks to the unborn child. Klonopin was given a pregnancy Category D rating due to the problems it caused in animal studies.
94902 tn?1330479667 Just wondering if anyone is pregnant and taking either Zoloft (sertraline) or Toprol XL (metaporpolol). I currently take both - one for anxiety and the other because I have PVCs and tachycardia (which causes the anxiety). I am now estimated 6 weeks pregnant, and am having to make the decision about wether or not to come off my meds. I am in the process of weighing my pros and cons, but wonder if any other moms have been on any meds while pregnant. I would appreciate any input.
5894884 tn?1386969571 Reading on the NHS website, sertraline isn't advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding except in serious cases which worries me :( but then again it's down to the doctor and what they think is best for each person so i'll have to see what they say would be best for me, although if they suggest anything i've been on previously i may rip their head off :/
Avatar f tn By the end of my pregnancy I was up to 100mg a day. I would recommend also seeing a psychiatrist also to help regulate the meds because that's what they specialize in.
Avatar f tn The specialist said that the hormones were taking their time to settle after my pregnancy. Blood work in 2008 and 2009 showed my TSH in normal levels. Could this mean that hyperthyroid has relapsed? Thank you!

Avatar m tn Are these two drugs compatable levothyroxine and sertraline hcl? Does your thyroid control your blood sugar?
Avatar f tn Zoloft (sertraline) is an anti-depressant that is thought to be safe to take during pregnancy. When they say the benefits outweigh the risks they mean that your depression can have a significant impact on yours or the babies health through not looking after yourself, eating, feeling suicidal etc. Depression itself will not effect your baby but your more at risk of postnatal depression if you're depressed during pregnancy.
Avatar m tn I'm a 30yr old male. I was on Sertraline approx 10 years ago for depression and it seemed to work until a crash. For one reason or another over the years, my treatment has changed several times. It is 2011 and i have found my way back to sertraline. I am currently taking 10mg of buspirone 2x day and 15mg of mirtazapine for major depression and generalized anxiety. I have been feeling constantly tired, apathetic and despondent.

Avatar m tn I have had migraines for the past 20 years, normally I experience 3 or 4 migraines a year but since I have been taking Sertraline I have had many more than usual. I am sure that it is the Sertraline because I normally take it before bed and have woke up several mornings with the leftover pain from the migraine I had while sleeping ( before Sertraline I have never had a migraine during the night ).
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, three months ago I started with pgad, which is a condition that you feel unwanted sexual arousal, it is horrible, I couldn't even sleep, at some moments It goes away and others it will return. I went to more than 12 different doctors, anyone knew what was happening. I have ocd, this year is going to be my 5th year with ocd and with anxiety, with despersonalization and irreality.
