Here's what I've found out about the difference between the two. When I first started taking "zoloft", I was actually taking the generic version sertraline. I felt like it did about as much as any of the other antidepressants have done. One month, I had my prescription filled at a different pharmacy than I usually use. Within a few days, I started feeling the electrical zaps, very teary and irritable.....like I'd feel if I missed a couple of days.

I might be pregnant and my psychiatrist told me not to worry about the embryo. He told me that even while I'm taking 15 mg of Aripiprazole and 50 mg of Sertraline daily, there is no danger. I'm really worried. if I'm pregnant,would these doses harm my embryo being taken daily?
CVS and Walgreens, for example, tend to use different generic manufacturers because CVS owns its own pharmacy benefits manager and therefore is much more restrictive on who they'll buy from. Because you should be able to special order the ones you had before if you know which manufacturer it was, assuming it's still available -- there's a lot of consolidation through mergers going on in the generic drug industry.

If you're on a generic, yes, many people do find that generics are often less effective than brand names and some generic manufacturers are better than others. Others don't notice these things. Generics are not identical to brand name drugs, they are similar enough to work pretty much the same but our bodies differ and might not absorb the generic as well.

Some people do fine with the sertraline generics, but others find they are not as effective, or experience more side effects. Some peolpe find one manufacturer's generic is okay, while a different generic is not.
One of my patients switched to a generic after being on brand Zoloft for years, and soon after developed GI symptoms, She was about to be put on a med. for that problem, but decided to first try switching back to Zoloft.
Are you taking generic levo as opposed to a brand name? If so, the generics used by the two pharmacies might be from two entirely different manuacturers, This is often the reason endos give for using brand names only. However, given that these are T4-only meds, that drastic a change in one day is unlikely due to the hormones in the two. BUT, different manufacturers use different fillers or binders, and you may have had a reaction to those.
I've been on Synthroid for about six-plus years. When finally diagnosed as hypo, my previous doctor said he wasn't even going to bother with generic because it doesn't work and put me on Synthroid. I knew my mother had issues with generic not working, so I wasn't going that route anyway.

Sertraline is the generic name for Zoloft, which is an antidepressant. It doesn't contain HCG, and it has no effect on a pregnancy test.
Just remember that there are side effects with Sertraline (Zoloft) in both the generic and brand name forms especiallly when you start, change doses, or come off of it, but for most people they are not that bad. For example I have more side effects from taking a Claritan than I ever did with Zoloft. As with any medical concerns, always keep an open channel with your doctor to express any of your concerns or questions.
hi,I have been on the same generic version of cytomel since July.once i tried another brand and i swear it made me feel ill,like slow walking..anyways we changed pharmasists and the only kind they have is the one i felt made me sick..so im trying it today..would there be any difference.i dont see how just a different manafactuer could make the pill make me feel bad I think Im just scared.
i have been suffering from major depression and anxiety for more than 6 months, i tried different medication but nothing helped but recently my doctor gave me new medication called sertraline and after 2 weeks of taking this medication i feel 70% better than before. my main symptoms have started to vanish and i feel like full recovery is just around the corner.
s true that different manufacturers use different fillers (these are used by both brand and generic manufacturers) and some people are sensitive to them. Often, switching brands or from generic to a brand name or brand name to generic can make a world of difference.
You can take your meds any time that works best for you. The rule of thumb, though, is also that you should not have had anything to eat or drink for 3-4 hours prior to taking meds, i.e. your stomach is empty.
Maybe they are gearing up to move everyone to generic Valtrex which I am sure will have a greater profit margin than acyclovir. I would hate to think that the drug companies are going to try to force people into a more expensive option but it wouldn't surprise me.

Purdue Pharma won the lawsuit and all the generic manufacturers that were producing Oxycontin had to exit the market. A similar scenario happened with Opana ER. Endo Pharmaceuticals reformulated Opana ER so that it couldn't be crushed and snorted. When they did that, it extended their patent for at least another 10 years. The difference in this case is there remains two strengths of generic Opana ER on the market that are manufactured by Actavis Pharmaceuticals.
s not so much about not using generics as it is that most pharmacies buy whatever generic they can get the cheapest price on, so you risk changing brands every time they get a new product in--with something like thyroid that relies on levels, you need to ensure the brand stays the same.
I just alert my pharmacist to flag my file on my warfarin (which requires titration levels too) that if they change the brand, I need to know, because I'll need to be retested.
Im on generic zooloft 50 mg. (sertraline) I was on generic Prozac 40 mg...then it was increased to 80 mg, I had to switch because I was getting heartburn so bad.
