Sertraline for ocd

Common Questions and Answers about Sertraline for ocd

Avatar n tn Hi Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are the drug of choice for OCD. The common SSRIs include fluoxetine (Prozac), sertraline (Zoloft), paroxetine (Paxil) and fluvoxamine (Luvox). The main indication for SSRIs are depression, anxiety, panic disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, eating disorders and sometimes Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However it should be remembered that all medications must be taken under medical supervision.

Avatar n tn Hi, I have suffered from GAD, Depression and OCD for over 30 years. In recent years, it had been fairly well controlled as I had started on Effexor XR over 300mg years back, and by 2014 had tapered down to 75mg per day. Last year suffered some trauma in a near fatal crash, and mentally did fine in the aftermath. In any event, after leaving the hospital last August, I ended up having relapsing symptoms. I have had what I consider to be an excellent Psychiatrist for years.
Avatar n tn Hello, I've been on Sertraline for over 10 years after being diagnosed with panic disorder and GAD. I've had a couple relapses over the years and had to increase my dosage from 50 to 100 to 150. My latest relapse was earlier this year, and my doctor has put me on 250 mg. The doctor also says I have OCD to my surprise, but it must only be the "O" part because I don't have any compulsive rituals... I just obsess and worry about my health and well being a lot.
Avatar m tn Hope you sort the depression out as I myself am a sertraline user and for the record I do drink from time to time and it can definately leave me feeling a little worse for a couple of days after drinking.
Avatar f tn I've been suffering with anxiety and OCD type thinking/ruminations for about 3 years now with a few boughts of anxiety and panic earlier in my life (mid-twenties and mid-teens, I'm 32 now). I have been having therapy for 2 years and it's helped me in lots of ways and even stopped the anxiety for periods of time. I went down the natural root first and saw a homeopath but the remedies I took gave me extremely bad reactions, I felt like i'd been given a 'depression remedy'.
Avatar m tn It's because I've been through horrible experience of OCD, anxeity, depression, post traumatic stress desorder and panic attack all at once,I wouldn't want my child to go through any one of these, I'm thinking of giving her with sertraline(Zoloft,Zosert)to treat for her above mentioned symptoms.your kind advice would be very much appreciated.Thank you and looking forward to your kind reply.
Avatar f tn Thanks for reading my really long post and replying. I think I never got rid of my OCD. It just transformed from obsessive thoughts to hypochondria. I was regular on my sertraline for almost 10 years. its been six months that I have not been taking it regularly as i want to slowly stop taking meds. for the last three weeks I havent taken sertraline at all.
Avatar m tn last year, I went to psychiatrist and he prescribed me Zosert 25 mg for 6 months and Alprozolam for sometimes incase necessary. OCD was improved and I can sleep for several months. 1) Anyone can share you experiences / your advises as well ? 2) I read some articles that Zosert can affect your sperm quantity. Since me and my wife are trying to have a baby. I am also worrid that long term use of Zosert will affect our family plan. 3) Is there any recommended natural remedies to reduce my OCD ?
Avatar m tn Meanwhile, he prescribed Sertraline. I am going to have it recent days. I do hope it can works for me, and for this time, I am not going to end it until my psychiatrist advise. For me, I am still worried about HIV even though I had negative result after 3 months check. I sometimes want to go and check again, but I can realize that that is the result of OCD. Instead of go checking, I'd rather to have meds to get over it.
Avatar f tn My obgyn didn't know what to prescribe so she took me to the ER and sat there with me for five hours for a psychological eval. It was so embarrasing and they don't treat you with very much dignity, but at least she stayed with me, and there was actually a crazy person there shouting the whole time so that was very distracting. The social worker gave us a psychiatrist at the hospital the make an appointment with and I have an appointment today.
Avatar m tn also I decided to see a doctor for which told me that I had an OCD and Hypochondriasis, and she prescribed (((LUSTRAL(sertraline) 50mg two tablet a day , INDERAL 40 mg two tablets a day and Miratzapine 15 once a day 2 hours before bed.
Avatar m tn Hi all, I'm just looking for a little help & support. A few months ago I was diagnosed with OCD and Aspergers Syndrome. I've always been aware I'm a little different but due to a mental breakdown I was diagnosed. I've had a fear of HIV for a long time, possibly stemming from a bad relationship with a positive person. I've tested numerous times over the past few years & all negative.
Avatar f tn I haven't been on my medication since that night, I'm to afraid, I can't understand what happend and how I fainted. I'm on 50mg sertraline and zopclone for sleep. My mood is generally always dark, i enjoy thinking about death and suicide alot. sometimes it scares me, because its ALWAYS on my mind, but sometimes its comforting to know that i will die some day.
Avatar m tn Hello, i have OCD since i was a child. But recently, i'm very afraid about having HIV. It began i think, after a risk exposure. Yesterday, for example, i was buying a coffee, and then, when i opened the top of the cup, i realized that the coffee wasn't full, and the foam was strange and quite red. Already thought in my mind 'it's blood'. Then, i was the entire evening trying to figure out how could it happened. And my conclusion, is, that maybe they gave me the coffe that another person left...
Avatar n tn After doing a Google search, I was able to confirm that Inosert is one company's brand name for generic Zoloft (sertraline). However, the search results were rather small. Since I couldn't find very many websites referencing or describing Inosert, I am somewhat skeptical about it. Basically, my question is: "Is Inosert a safe and valid chemical equivalent to Zoloft?
Avatar m tn since am going to get married in 2 weeks I went on to test again 2 days back which was a rapid test on ale re determine combo and my doc said I'm having severe OCD and put me on sentraline medication. The test came out negative and I was really happy but on for 3 hrs after that the fear came back because the doctor during test he never used capilary tube but straight away swab the blood from my finger to the alere determine combo pad and I keep on thinking that I might infected my self.
Avatar n tn This is likely not an example of PANDAS. The first example may have been, but it resolved spontaneouslyThe current situation is far more likely to be due to a legitimate OCD. With treatment, the prognoisis is good. But absolutely treatment, consisting of both therapy and medication, will be required if OCD is ultimately diagnosed.
Avatar m tn Doctor prescribed me medicine serlift-50mg for 10 days. Then serlift-100mg from 11th day onwards. After 10 days, I got its side-effect Erectile dysfunction and also ejaculation has stopped. Please advice me some alternate medicine and its dosage.... thanku...
Avatar m tn Hi Sam...I have posted before that I think OCD should be renamed OMG for obsessive mind game and for those Oh My God moments. I just want you to know that I have thought a lot of the same thoughts you have been through plus others you have not been through which I won't list because as you know, anything we hear or see becomes fuel for the fire that is OCD. I have wondered whether our current lives equate to purgatory and what we do in the here and now will get us to God.
Avatar f tn Sertraline and Quetiapine - I have just been allocated a mental health support worker too.
Avatar m tn As you can imagine these thoughts are really starting to get my down and affect my ability to perform at work. I have been taking sertraline (50mg) for about 4 weeks and have also started CBT and have found that both of these have helped but thoughts are still with me albeit a bit more muffled. I am sure my problems with intrusive thoughts have been caused by using ecstasy.
Avatar f tn I would be happy to answer OCD-related questions, but I don't know exactly what you're asking. I can recommend some books for you for now. Brain Lock by Jeffrey M. Schwartz helps to explain OCD and how to work through exposures. It will be extremely helpful in broadening your understanding of what your son is going through and how to help him. There is a book for children called What To Do When Your Brain Gets Stuck by Dawn Huebner which may be helpful for him. Feel free to message me.
1392179 tn?1280141662 i was on 25mg zoloft for a week then 50mg for 2 years then 100mg for less then a year and i decided to stop taking it, because i start having this weird foggy, dizzy, scared to pass out feeling and i want to go back on it, but am really scared to do so.

Avatar n tn - My brother, who has problems similar to mine, has had not a good experience with high doses of Fluoxetine, and said that Sertraline is working much better for him. - Whenever I take Metoclopramide, which is a Dopamine antagonist, it makes me awfully depressed. So I thought maybe I have some problems with my Dopamine levels. Thus, Sertraline which has some small Dopamine reuptake inhibition effect may be a better choice.
Avatar n tn About a year ago I went on Zoloft 50 mg for treatment of ocd\depression. I had been on Luvox for a year with success but started breaking out in hives(unrelated)so my psychiatrist changed it. About 2 weeks into it, I noticed my skin had become very fragile, it tore quite easily, and my eyelids suddenly became hooded. It seemed I had aged beyond a youthful 23 in less than a month, my skin crepe-y and sagging. I immediately quit the med.
