Sertraline effexor

Common Questions and Answers about Sertraline effexor

zoloft

Avatar n tn In recent years, it had been fairly well controlled as I had started on Effexor XR over 300mg years back, and by 2014 had tapered down to 75mg per day. Last year suffered some trauma in a near fatal crash, and mentally did fine in the aftermath. In any event, after leaving the hospital last August, I ended up having relapsing symptoms. I have had what I consider to be an excellent Psychiatrist for years.
Avatar f tn I am coming down gradually off my anti-depressants, i was on 100mg of sertraline and im now on 50mg and trying to come off them altogether. So far im coping ok, i thought that coming down would unblock my emotions and allow me to feel my emotions instead of them being numbed, but so far i only feel a bit more emotional and still find it hard to cry. I would love to just have a good crying spell to get all the heavy sadness i feel out!
1910757 tn?1348683319 As I said, I cannot really advise you on which medication is right for you, only you can decide if you want to continue with Sertraline. But, read the posts about withdrawal from Effexor first. I am on Effexor and it suits me, but then I am on it long term. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on. Remember people here really care about each other, and we like people to keep in touch and tell us how they are doing.
Avatar f tn First, your GP is right -- you need a psychiatrist. Sorry, but your GP knows he's not an expert in these meds. Most psychiatrists aren't either but when you find one that works for you you no longer have to see them very often -- you only need to see them if you have issues or need to change medication. As for sleep, the problem with taking medication regularly for sleep as opposed the way AnxiousNoMore uses it as described is it makes the insomnia worse in the long run.
190673 tn?1259203266 I have been taking Effexor XR 450mg and Buproprion 450mg for a couple of years. I'm weaning off the Effexor, going onto Pristiq and continuing the Buproprion.
2190999 tn?1504988891 I know Celexa, lexapro and Sertraline both gave me night sweats. They are all selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Effexor is an SNRI, serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. I think since they both inhibit serotonin, that most likely is the reason you're sweating. The effect for me didn't lessen with time, it was every night for as long as I took them.
Avatar f tn Currently came off sertraline after five weeks on it it 2 weeks it took the anxiety edge off things then Bang 3 weeks of hell started venlafaxine 37.5mg Tuesday just gone and upped to 75mg Friday anxiety is sky high this weekend and had loads of crying out burst my anxiety is awful in the mornings after taking a zopiclone for sleep I was just wondering if anyone has had anything like benzodiazepines to help with there venlafaxine start up to get you through the first rough couple of weeks?
Avatar m tn it is very common to have sexual dysfunction issues with medications like sertraline. let your provider know how much of an issue this is for you. Often options include trying other meds with less of this particular side effect (for depression/anxiety often pristiq, effexor, cymbalta) or adding another med to the sertraline such as wellbutrin/bupoprion. It can take some trial and error but it can get better!
Avatar n tn Hi Everyone, I have been taking 225mg of effexor for about 18months. My MD has just decreased the dose to 150mg to try to stop some side effects. The first few days I felt nothing, now I have been feeling a constant nervousness in my stomach & it feels like my head is racing a bit, like time is going by very fast. This is to be expected, I have been through worse in my life that some nervousness in my stomach, i just hope it dosen't last forever.
Avatar f tn Now in 2012 I stopped the one I was on at the time (Effexor) and switched quickly to sertraline because I was diagnosed with heart failure (due to chemo that damaged my heart at age ten) and SNRIs apparently are cardiotoxic. But as you can imagine the Sertraline wasn't working and I did a bit of research (doctors of heart duno much about antidepressants and vice versa so don't like to give advice on what they don't know!
Avatar f tn pristiq, sertraline, effexor, noratriptlyne,
Avatar f tn I started with 187,5mg Effexor and my strong depression went away in 3 months. Because of a dizzy brain, difficulty in concentration I reduced to 75mg. But still I feel sick and tired in the afternoon - strange but it becomes better after meal. But I have to take a antidepressiva for a long time, to reduce the risk of a fallback. So I search for a better drug with less sideeffects. I tried zoloft and citalopram but the sideeffects were worse.
Avatar n tn You are asking if there is an anti-depressant that is the less likely to cause weight gain than Effexor. As you can see, Effexor is amongst the least likely to cause weight gain, and in fact, is known to contribute to weight loss. You may wish to try an alternative on the list above. It is unclear why anti-depressants cause weight gain.
Avatar n tn Does the lack of Adderall somehow affect the chemical balance, or does it make the affects of Sertraline less effective? I read that Sertraline amplifies the effects of Adderall, but I'm wondering if the negative inverse is true - does lack of Adderall impede Sertraline in any way? 2. I've been on Zoloft 15mg for about 3-4 months or so. Does Zoloft lose its effectiveness in that time period, or rather, could it?
Avatar f tn After unsuccessfully attempting several types of medication (Nortrilene, Valdoxan and Sertraline) I have now been given Wellbutrin XL. I take 150mg once a day in the morning but after only a few days on this I started feeling really argumentative and aggressive. My Pysch told me it was early days and he wanted me to continue so I have for the last three weeks, but these effects are not improving and I still feel really depressed. I also cry at everything now.
Avatar f tn Hi, I've suffered with depression since having my son 17 years ago, I've been put on many different meds, prozac, sertraline, dothiepin, amitriptyline, mirtazapine, citalopram, I'm now on Viepax XL 75mg (since yesterday) and was wondering how well they work for people? as I don't want to be changeing meds every 5 mins.
Avatar f tn hi, I've posted here before about my battle with anxiety/depression. I was on effexor for a long time, it did absolutely nothing for me. Now the doctor switched me to Sertraline with Seroquel at night and Clonazapam 3 times a day. After the first week I honestly thought I was getting better, but this week I haven't been sleeping (not even an hour) and feel severely depressed.
Avatar f tn I started on Effexor 2 weeks ago, 1 week on 37.5 mgs and the next week on 75 mgs daily. I was on prozac for years which I only changed because I started to get anxiety attacks, however, I can live with the anxiety rather than continue on Effexor! I'm hating it, I feel really really down on it (more depressed than I have been in years!
Avatar f tn I am on Effexor and plan on quitting smoking again. I've quit numerous times - the most I've quit is for 2 year. I have used the patch with success - however the last 2 times, I've gotten to 12 weeks, stopped the patch and started smoking within 2 weeks. So, I want to try a new strategy. I am considering Chantix - but right now I am on Effexor and am concerned taking both meds will create a problem.
Avatar f tn Zoloft (Sertraline) not a bad SSRI at dosages above 100Mgs a day, but it lacks the power to squash Major depression when it is really bad. I have been on all three drugs and none helped me either so try not to get frustrated. You just found out what doesn't work for you and thats a good thing because now you can take steps toward more effective medication combinations.
Avatar n tn Hi, I live in England and my doctor gave me no choice but put me on to generic Venlafaxine. Now reading Hensley's reply, I am worried it will not help me. I was told it was exactly the same as Effexor XR. I was on Effexor XL before. I don't know what the difference is. Hensley knows so much about drugs. I know nothing, just trust my doctor to put me on one he thinks will help me. Didn't know I could ask him to put me on the proper drug not the generic.
Avatar f tn Hi guys!! Well my doctor said I was resistant to medication since i've tried effexor and sertraline. I found that while on them, my symptoms got worse. For instance, I have trouble sleeping due to anxiety and it just made that worse. When I stopped taking them and just taking Seroquel, I am able to sleep better than i've ever slept my entire life. (When taking Seroquel with sertraline, I still couldn't sleep and was very irritable).
Avatar f tn Hi all. I have been on effexor 187.5 for about 5 months and although it has helped my anxiety and depression, it has not completely taken it away. I have also gained 10 pounds and feel as though I am trying to stay one step ahead of my anxiety. It is almost always in the background and if I give in to it, it will take over. I was on celexa for many years with great success and literally zero anxiety until it pooped out last summer. I tried see trained with no success and then effexor.
Avatar m tn Zoloft /Effexor combo pooped out Nov 2020. Dr. had me increase Zoloft - not tolerated. Next he had me taper off the combo and onto Cymbalta 60mg in May. Gave it 11 weeks but it caused anxiety, panic and fatigue. Dr. Tol me to increase dose from 60mg to 80mg. This made everythibg worse. I then was told to resume 60mg and I asked Dr. to help me discontinue Cymbalta. He instructed me to start taking Zoloft 50mg and reduce Cymbalta from 60 to 40 then 20 over 2 weeks then stop the Cymbalta.
Avatar m tn I told my doctor that I wanted to quit antidepressants. I am not depressed, just anxious. She told me to try Effexor. I am hesitant to try it because I am afraid of more weight gain. Is there anyone out there who had a lot of weight gain with Zoloft but then switched to Effexor and had success at weight loss? I currently exercise regularly and watch what I eat. Thank you for your answers in advance.
1305597 tn?1275336446 citalopram (celexa), fluoxetine (prozac), sertraline (zoloft). Another medication that is sometimes added to SSRI in the treatment of depression is bupropion (welbutrin) and it has even been shown to cause a small weight loss over the first few months (it suppresses the appetite). However, if the eating disorder you are is either anorexia or bulimia this is not an option because during clinical trails bupropion caused a slightly increased rate of new seizures in those two eating disorders.
