sertraline and hallucinations

Hey all, I have a bit of a dilemma at the moment. I did something silly a couple of weeks ago - I overdosed on Zoloft. A couple of days later I started to experience vivid hallucinations and was quite worried.

A couple of weeks ago I overdosed on Zoloft and ever since I have been experiencing hallucinations. They have got a lot less vivid and frequent, but I still get them every few days. They are usually patterns, but in the dark if I look at something for example a photograph, it forms in to a scary image and it really freaks me out. I did used to have hallucinations as a child but they went away. It is only since the overdose that I have been experiencing them again.

The report describes a bone marrow transplant patient who developed severe tremors and visual hallucinations after he dramatically increased his dosage of oxycodone while on a stable dosage of sertraline and cyclosporine. Discontinuation of cyclosporine did not completely resolve his hallucinations and had no effect on the tremors after 72 hours, which led to consideration of a possible sertraline-oxycodone interaction.

Typically it is started at a lower dose of 25mgs and worked up. I have been on it for years and never had those side effects. I had a bit of termors and increased anxiety while I adjusted to the medications but not anything like you said here. Were you anxious about taking the medication to begin with?

It is 2011 and i have found my way back to sertraline. I am currently taking 10mg of buspirone 2x day and 15mg of mirtazapine for major depression and generalized anxiety. I have been feeling constantly tired, apathetic and despondent.

If anything I have gained. Could these 2 medicines together be holding me back from losing> I would like to go off of the sertraline.

I am on 25mg sertraline, day 8 for anxiety and panic attacks - so far only really feeling the side effects and no real relief yet but am very hopeful given all the positive comments I've read online - if I can just last until it starts to kick in. Also hoping that I won't require a higher dosage.

It is a good fit. I ended up in a psych ward for 3 days because I ate a bottle of Prozac and everything else made me feel dead inside. I remember wanting to cry and my eyes actually hurting from trying and I couldn't. It sucked and I hate that people have to go through these feelings By the way, we are neighbors. I'm in Surfside!

Recently she has been experiencing panic-type attacks and possible hallucinations. The doc says her Synthroid levels are not too high--that was her first thought--but I wonder. Has anyone else experienced hallucinations due to hormone imbalance?

Hi everyone. About 2 weeks ago my medication of Levothyroxine and Sertraline was increased to Levothyroxine 100 micro grams and Sertraline 50mg. About a week after starting these I got a positive pregnancy test (I took about 3 tests just to make sure lol). I have a midwife appointment tomorrow but my symptoms have been bare to none (Only cramping, tiredness and on/off headaches). I was wondering if any of these medications can effect a pregnancy test?

t know if I can help on this. I have Bipolar II and BPD and have had hallucinations but those are usually part of the symptoms. Most the times I'll see something following me around as clear as if it was day but its not. Its not there, just imagined and I know that but its still there. I've seen the faces and felt the being touched, constant shivers. But I've made up my own imaginings to make them rational. The only one that bugs is the auditory.

Are these two drugs compatable levothyroxine and sertraline hcl? Does your thyroid control your blood sugar?

Hello, I have recently started taking Zoloft for about 6 weeks now and I've had insomnia. But when I take it in the morning I feel sluggish for at least a couple hours and feel Ike I need a nap. I'm only on 25mg now but my doc said I may need to up my dose for full effect. She also prescribed lunesta which did help me fall asleep but I only sleep for like 3/4 hours then I can't go back to sleep! Which also makes me tired. She suggested splitting the dose.

I might be pregnant and my psychiatrist told me not to worry about the embryo. He told me that even while I'm taking 15 mg of Aripiprazole and 50 mg of Sertraline daily, there is no danger. I'm really worried. if I'm pregnant,would these doses harm my embryo being taken daily?

25 mg Clonazepam after breakfast. Sertraline after lunch and 0.25 mg Clonazepam, 2.5 mg Propranolol and my regular thyroid medication after dinner. I am trying to wean off Propranolol. Is this correct schedule? Would I become hypertensive or hypotensive after the initial dosage? Please do reply.

I have been taking the generic for Zoloft, Sertraline, for about 8 months now. I did another physical 3 wks ago, and it showed my TSH levels off and my Cholesterol as 276 with high LDL cholesterol also. My HDL level was high, which is great. I exercise and eat very healthy.

You have been prescribed Sertraline for mood swings and also it is working well for you, your correlation of using Sertraline and getting migraines might be ok, but it is always better to discuss with the doctor who prescribed the drug about its possible side effects and a substitute thereon. You might consult a migraine specialist also to get an evaluation and update on drug use. Try relaxation techniques to decrease stress. Keep posting your views. Take care.

my 3 year old had a fever last night and it was acompanied by hallucinations of bugs crawling on our furniture and other strange comments and today his temp was 103 went down to normal after ibprofrin. so i took him to doc who said it was consitent with menangitis but he was syptom free at the time and currently still is. he told me to take him to er if he gets worse or stiff neck or hallucinations or walkin into walls. anyone experience this?

Hi, I am wondering if anyone knows the difference between apo-sertraline and pms-sertraline? I can't afford to purchase my prescription for pms-sertraline, my mom takes the apo version and gets her prescriptions for free under gov't funding. If there's a difference, I obviously won't take her meds but if it's the same thing I don't see the harm. Thanks!

I started sertraline (Zololft) when I was breastfeeding my last baby and became pregnant this time while taking it. I am currently 16 weeks pregnant. While there have not been any major studies done as to the affects of sertraline and pregnancy, it is one of the more commonly prescribed antidepressant meds by ob doctors because there has not been a defiante link made to issues with the fetus.

The sertraline lol now I take celexa and its not really making me feel too different from the sertraline but, im always all over my bf now ahaha and as for the anxiety the sertraline basically killed that monster lol

Often options include trying other meds with less of this particular side effect (for depression/anxiety often pristiq, effexor, cymbalta) or adding another med to the sertraline such as wellbutrin/bupoprion. It can take some trial and error but it can get better!

My doctor prescribed me Sertraline 25mg on top of my existing med. The first day I took Sertraline I got stomach upset and diarrhea; reduced to 12.5mg now. I m suffering side-effects like I'm having a fever(fatigue, sweaty, chills at times). On top of that, my menstruation's cramp is exceptionally bad this time, not sure it was affected by Sertraline. I am not sure this med would help me anymore. Hope someone could induce more positive effects about Sertraline.

After the first week or so, the adverse effects slowly disappeared and my mood improved a lot. I was honestly loving Sertraline, because it made me feel the way I was before the depressive episode and it also improved my anxiety. About two weeks ago, I started getting diarrhea. At first it didn't bother me, because I spend most of my time at home and I just though it would eventually go away like the other adverse effects.
