My Doctor just switch my medication from 150 mg of Effexor XR to 400 mg of Seroquel XR. I dropped my dosage of Effexor gradually but I still experienced terrible withdrawl. Now I am experiencing bad side effects, " I'm guessing ths", from the Seroquel. I have gained weight in my stomach area very rapidly, I have pain and stiffness in my legs, 24 hour dry mouth and sinuses and I feel like I could cry at the drop of a hat.

I have been on regular Seroquel for years and Seroquel XR for some time now and I have never gained any weight. In fact, I was on Seroquel when I lost the weight I gained from all the other drugs.

Then I discontinue it. He is hoping my other antipsychotic, seroquel xr will be enough. He raised that from 150 to 200 Mgs. Anyone have experience coming off antipsychotics?

Hi I am on Depakote and Seroquel XR 300mg. Haven't really noticed any side effects with the Depakote ( I started this med first) apart from stomach upset in the first few weeks. The Seroquel has been a god send to me too.. it is very calming, you do feel extremely drowsy for the first few months but this wears off, although I have never had a bad night since! I needed to be drowsy as I'd lost about 6 mths s leep over the summer with manic and mixed episodes..

Hi. I've been on Seroquel and then Seroquel XR for about two years now. I was initially prescribed it for bipolar mania, and the resultant insomnia. I have had panic attacks before prior to taking Seroquel, however never constantly, and never for no reason at all. I would have a panic attack after a traumatic event, or when I smoked pot as a teenager, but otherwise I never had them.

Why are you changing from seroquel to lamictal? I am just curious as I perhaps too might be changing from seroquel to something else in the near future. It's some unwanted side effects for me.I tried stopping the med unsupervised (don't do this at home) and I had a real job sleeping afterwards, so perhaps be prepared for that (I am back on now until I can see my pdoc).

I used to take regular Seroquel with no sexual side effects. I was recently changed to Seroquel XR and the side effects are so different than regular Seroquel, and one of them is sexual side effects. Anyone else? The other new med I am on is Amitiza, which is for Irritable Bowel Syndrome and didn't have sexual side effects listed. I have been under a lot of new stress lately, but that has never caused this problem in the past.

I just started taking Seroquel XR 150 m.g. 1 week ago, and I saw all the side effects and was leary also, but since I have been on it I have only had some side effects, tired during the day, and overly thirsty, and my sinuses being dry, and that is about it.

s *real* stubborn. he wants me to take some seroquel xr and i agreed because i am trying to please everyone, inc. me. when your anxiety and depression are too high-octane for ADs and benzos, as you may know, sometimes they add seroquel XR to help, esp. if extreme anxiety and depression are dis-integrating your thoughts a bit as well. happens to the best of us!

however, my mood stabilizer is what helped to keep me on a more even keel. The side effects from the Seroquel should wear off once your body adjusts to the medication.

Was your doctor suggesting you try it to help with anxiety? Personally, I have not heard of it being used for that as there are much more effective medications out there for anxiety. Also Seroquel can actually cause anxiety and panic attacks! I hope that your doctor asked you many more questions to determine if you had bipolar disorder than just about racing thoughts. Bipolar disorder cannot and should not be diagnosed only on the basis of that.

They were of little benefit. Recently my MD. gave me some samples of 50 mg. of Seroquel XR. After reading the info with the medication, it says Seroquel is prescribed for bi-polar disorder. In my case I don't get the up or manic phase. I was hoping that this medication may be helpful for depression alone. Anyone who takes Seroquel that can give me some insight will be much appreciated.

I have found Seraquel to be very beneficial although I don't know how. I sleep if I have it before 6 pm which helps my BP that suffers from insomnia. But aside from that I only know that something is working. The last few months would have been very difficult as I lost my mum-in-law whom I was very close to and my sister went away as an aid worker overseas for 6 months. Not very helpful sorry but I don't have any side effects.

ve been trying to figure out what is the difference between Geodon and Latuda in terms of side effects like weight gain and anxiety problems. On Seroquel XR my anxiety was completely under control but I did feel like a zombie a lot of the time and needed at least 10 hour sleep.

If you are finding the sedative effects of seroquel beneficial for sleep you may lose this with the XR.

I was put on Seroquel XR 150mg... I have been taking Risperdal it has many side effects huge weight gain lactating, not happy with that outcome but anyone wanaa give some good advice about this ser xr does it work and the dr says there is little study to prove that it causes weight gain...

I immediately started to gain weight. And stopped the Seroquel immediately (mid Dec). I know this is one of the side effects. I gained about 5lbs. Being 5'9" and weighing 135, I felt the 5 extra pounds would come off with eating better and a few more yoga classes . But the weight kept coming. I got down to a dietary intake of about 1000 cals. But that mad no difference.

I take Seroquel xr and Lithium. The Seroquel xr for about two and a half months. The Lithium for over ten years. The Lithium, I do not believe it causes weight gain. Seroquel xr, yes. It, so far is the best antipsychotic I have ever taken, we'll see as the time goes on. I gained about fifteen pounds at first on Seroquel xr! I cut out most colas, I never have been a snacker. It does not make me crave food or sugar, it just adds weight.

Hey , I read your other post and i'm sorry to hear of your trouble's with Seroquel . I myself had some issue's with Seroquel XR especially when comming off the stuff , I'm on the normal stuff now along with Lithium and and a vitamin regime which help's with sleep and if i were'nt on it i probably could not eat .

I am on 400 mg lithuim, 400 mg lamctal, 20 latuda and serquel xr 300 mg. I'm over the hump of a depressive funk. I was taken off seroquul xr and put on latuda. The latuda worked for about a month and then I got depressed again. I'm back on the seroquel xr 300 mg. but weaning off latuda. I'm not completely back to normal from the last time when I was taking 400 mg. My doc says he can't raise the dosage just yet.
