Seroquel vs lunesta

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel vs lunesta

seroquel

1246883 tn?1285547973 I was given Seroquel as a sleep aide in last Dec. I immediately started to gain weight. And stopped the Seroquel immediately (mid Dec). I know this is one of the side effects. I gained about 5lbs. Being 5'9" and weighing 135, I felt the 5 extra pounds would come off with eating better and a few more yoga classes . But the weight kept coming. I got down to a dietary intake of about 1000 cals. But that mad no difference.
Avatar f tn My doctor has recommended Seroquel for my insomnia. Since i am a parkinsons patient, I was wondering if this ,might make my parkinsons worse?
Avatar n tn TRY THE SEROQUEL!!!! Put me right out!!! Seriously, this med works @ the correct dose. Lunesta did nothing for me! I have a high benzo tolerance and opiate tolernace and 25mg put me out like a baby @ ffirst 4 me. Almost feels like anesthesia 4 me as I felt paralyzed and then went out like light. Follow ur dr's instructions.
1538831 tn?1294199202 Just got some seroquel today and im a little iffy about it. Im currently taking 25 mg of zoloft, 1mg of ativan as needed, mostly for panic attacks, 1 25 mg hydrochlorothiazide a day for blood pressure, and now they want me to use 1 25 mg tab of seroquel at bedtime. Im only 23 and hate to think i need all of these meds, but when im not doing what the docs say i do feel worst. Im gonna try one pill tonite and decide if i need it i guess? Any Suggestions.
603015 tn?1329862973 Sonata and Ambien are for short term use only. Lunesta can be used safely everyday. Rozerem works in the same manner as melatonin and actually adjusts the sleep cycle. That can be taken everyday and might get your sleep cycle more in order.
809366 tn?1238749581 I had problems sleeping and my pdoc put me on ambien, then lunesta then to valium which none worked so now he put me on 50mg of seroquel this made me sleep and then some. I am feeling like I am drugged and scared to take the next dose and scared not to as well. My pdoc is new to me and never gave an emergency number, he will not be back in his office till tuesday and also this coupled with my lexapro put me in a mixed state and feeling slighty suicidal this happens when I cycle rapidly.
Avatar m tn I have been prescribed seroquel "off-label" for sleep for a long time, but I dont like being on it because it really is powerful like being hit with a jackhammer and is hard to shake off the next day. It has a hangover effect. But it is the only thing that has worked for me with my sleep problems thus i have stayed on it. Also the side effects of weight gain and some other negative side effects are the reason I would love to get off of it.
Avatar n tn is anyone on saphris? my pdoc changed me from seroquel and abilify to this new med, which i start tonight. the other 2 was causing my blood sugar and pressure to start going up. i felt fine taking this combo but don't want to take 2 more meds for blood sugar and blood pressure.
Avatar f tn As of last week (maybe two weeks ago), I had reduced my Klonopin intake from 3 MG/day to 1.5 MG/day.
202665 tn?1248806733 s a controlled release and I find that it works pretty well... Also, may want to try Lunesta, if the Ambien is no longer working for you... but those drugs are supposed to be for temporary use only... you will eventually build up a resistance to them.... I'm surprised the Trazadone isn't working..... I find that Seroquel (mood stabilizer, used to treat bi-polar) is very effective as a sedative... I take 200mg/nightly and rarely have to use an additional sleep aid......
Avatar m tn to no avail. saw a sleep specialist and he put me on both seroquel to be taken with Lunesta. it all went downhill from there. to make a long story short, this is when i started having panic attacks. So it was time for me to take some time off of work and see a psychiatrist, since that is what the ER physician recommended. My 1st psyc put me on 10 mg. of lexapro and 30 mg of temazepan and it was HORRIFYING.
Avatar n tn But after a bed svt episode in december, i have been needing something stronger for my sleep anxiety. My doc also recommended me Lunesta but im too scared to try it, its 3mg. I think that might be a too high of a dose. Does anyone know what can help me sleep without anxiety? Has anyone else tried Lunesta for sleep anxiety. I have tried not sleeping with any med but end up staying up all night panicing even though i am super tired. Please help me get back to sleep so i can focus more on my life.
506273 tn?1260138781 Just got back from the pdoc. He prescribed Pristiq 50 mgs. Says I "can" go as high as 400, but of course we are starting slow. Anyone have any reactions good or bad with this? He did tell me I won't feel anything probably 3-4 weeks, so I'm pretty anxious to get this started. I am also on xanax, seroquel, and he just prescribed Lunesta because I haven't been sleeping and have had no luck with ambien.
Avatar m tn I would want to know from the members of this forum about how many people are using Seroquel only as a sleeping aid in doses of 25 mg and 50 mg.All suggestions and answers are welcome.
458072 tn?1291415186 tried all the sleep meds, narcotic injection, 2 dramamine, 4 dramamine, 2-4 benedryl, seroquel every other remedy that is supposed to induce a sleep. No luck with it, due to my thyroid "problem" I was wondering if anyone had this same problem, took a sudafed, or some other type of med that keeps you alert, and had a reverse reaction to it. You know, where it put you out instead of bumping up the energy. getting desperate here, for sleep.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I have tried Seroquel, Seroquel XR, Zyprexa, and Lithium, all in the space of a few weeks... I thought that they were causing me to cycle harder, but I have realized that I am getting the akathisia side effect from them.. When the sun is down, they bring up my mood, but when it's bright out, I get very agitated.. All of these drugs have this side effect as they work on dopamine. I am at a loss right now; has anyone else had this problem? I am slowly running out of medications...
Avatar n tn I am having to take sleeping pills to sleep. I tried Ambien, Ambien CR, Lunesta, and amitriptyline. Each medicine would only let me sleep for four hours a night. So I am taking the Lunesta right now. But it is very hard functioning during the day as I am very fatigued. My body previously was use to getting 8 hours of sleep a day. Do you know of any other medicines that would help with longer sleep? How long does it usually take for the sleep to return on its own?
447130 tn?1225470866 Afetr being on 100mg of Seroquel at night for about a month now, my sleep is back to normal and the seroquel is making me feel better, keeping depression at bay. I've been through a rough 2 weeks with some personal things and I came through like a champ. I don't need Restoril or Ambien anymore and I have adjusted to Seroquel so my doc wants me on it for a bit longer. He explained sleep is crucial to bipolar disorder and ordered my on the Seroquel until otherwise notified.
Avatar f tn Hey all, so I got tired of not sleeping more than 4hrs a night after being off of Tramadol 42days and my Dr gave me Lunesta. I asked if it was addicting and he said yes but you won't buid up a tolerance to it... I would like to hear this though from someone that has taken this medication and has had to come off it... How hard was it? What where the wds like???ect.ect any info on this would be appreciated...Thank You. Jeffi.
Avatar m tn The highest available dose of Lunesta is 3mg. Recently, thought is that Lunesta, Ambien, and others in this class are very similar to benzodiazepine drugs. But I haven't read much about addiction or withdrawl from these meds. Seems like insomnia would be a given, but you could try melatonin or valerian root to combat that. Good luck either way.
2021910 tn?1339896686 so when I was in the Er last night they gave me Lunesta a sleeping pill to help me sleep I'm 31 w 5 d n my mom told me its not safe...is it..I mean babys fine n stuff but the hospital wouldn't give it to me if it wasent ok right ?
Avatar f tn It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.
574118 tn?1305135284 Well, some bipolar people do ok on ADs once they have a mood stabilizer, but not everyone. With the tryptophan, while it is a serotonin precursor, I'm not sure there's any evidence that it would do much. The blood brain barrier keeps a lot of things out of the brain, so there's no guarantee that any serotonin made would make it on up. I don't know if tryptophan would pass the blood brain barrier in a large enough quantity to make a difference or not.
Avatar f tn t that hte same thing) 1 mg 1/2 to 1 pill twice a day, and the new medication, they took me off trazadone 100 mg 1 pill a night to Seroquel 25 mg 1 to 2 once a day. I've got a few friends that take seroquil and it's been a medication where they couldn't function with the medication (including my sister and have had to change because she couldn't funtion the next day), so my question is this. Is there anyone else taking seroquil right now, or have you taken it in the past?
Avatar m tn I would definetly quit taking the Ambien if you can because of all the nasty side effects of this class of drugs,or atleast change to another type hypnotic such as Lunesta or Sonata, they do the same job but without all of the sleep walking and stuff. You may or may not have experienced any of the things I have but I have woken up in places where I did not go to sleep in and that alone was enough for me,let alone the other things that I spoke of that happened to me.
