seizure

Avatar n tn My 11-year old son had his first seizure in Jan 08 and what we think "might" have been a seizure 6 months prior, but no confirmation of that. The emergency room said he had heat stroke. It was the first day of school and he was at recess in over 100 degree temperature. He became confused, vomited and didn't know where he was or how old he was. The second seizure took place at home.
Avatar m tn Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) is a treatment for epilepsy where a small generator is implanted under the skin below the left collar bone. The generator sends impulses from the Vagus nerve in the neck to the brain and delivers therapy in two ways: 1. A doctor programmes a 24-hour a day, seven-day a week "dose" of intermittent stimulation. One such dose frequently used is 30 seconds of stimulation followed by a five-minute period of no stimulation.
Avatar n tn They may not be an option if you also have asthma, diabetes or certain heart problems . Anti-seizure medications. These drugs, especially primidone (Mysoline), may be effective in people who don't respond to beta blockers. Avatar f tn meanwhile , a subcutaneous pocket behind the rectus sheath was made to accomadate the pulse generator....... I am worried why was this procedure adopted.when it could have been done with one incision. I asked my doctor's assistant, she explained me but I did not understand her explanation. Is this something to be worried about.. otherwise my child is doing great except the pain because of surgery.
Avatar m tn The neurologic symptoms of unsteadiness and confusion would be secondary to the brain not receiving enough blood because of abnormal heart function. A fast heart rate could be electrophysiologic, due to an abnormal heart rate generator, or metabolic, from something else going on in the body such as thyroid problems. As you mention, toxic exposures can lead to this as well. Continued follow-up with a cardiologist is certainly recommended if these episodes of fast heart rate occur again.
Avatar m tn Like my wind gets knocked out on me, briefly, and maybe one or two times consecutively. Almost like a little seizure type feeling in my chest, that sends my into an instant panic, my heart races afterword and pounds seemingly twice as hard and I get more skips. And on one occasion, after the weird sensation for a few seconds in felt like my heart was gone, chest void and I couldn't pick up a pulse in my wrist for a few seconds.
Avatar f tn Hi Sara. Meditation has been such a wonderful tool for me. Practised over time it does help create dramatic changes in ones life. I personally found that for easy tasks, such as falling asleep when experiencing discomfort and pain, it worked-to my amazement- very well! And for more difficult tasks, it would just take some more time.
Avatar f tn I have had migraines since I was a teen but for the last 2 years I have had "seizure like" auras with extreme neausea and vertigo. There was some debate about what was causing these symptoms. After extensive testing I have now been told it's non-epileptic and all migraine. We are now trying to find a daily preventative program. My Dr has suggested that our weather patterns might not be the best for my condition and that I might want to consider moving.

Avatar n tn The facet and selective nerve root injections proved that the pain generator was the C3/C4 in my case. But CCF is right. It seems the higher level the worse the headaches and dizziness.
Avatar f tn I have been with her now for past 15months and that was the best decision that i have made. Now i am seizure free, my stroke symptoms have subsided quite a bit, i am out of wheelchair, i am not in agonizing pain 24/7 and in a process of introducing normal food. Hallelujah! She has such a wonderful energy about her and she is a genius when it comes to chronic illnesses or mysterious conditions. U should reach out to her.
177382 tn?1253044740 Lyrica is not always a good choice. If you have addiction issues or are on any meds that may lower your seizure threshold or have had seizures, it is not for you. Take your doctors word but ask him/her about these other options.
Avatar f tn As I've mentioned earlier, the antibiotics, particularly the last one I took called co-amoxiclav, caused me to have these horrible seizure like episodes. They weren't seizures I don't think, but I felt internally off balance and was getting nerve pain and twitches. Sounds like a massive release of toxins? Because the antibiotics, in effect, released the beasties into the wild? Also, I'm finding it difficult to know when I'm on the right track.
Avatar n tn I've been having a hard time tapering off the benzos and have run out early several times, putting myself through the terror of living and working a very, very stressful job while experiencing pre-seizure symptoms and, at the same time, having no insurance to cover so much as a doctor visit. It's been the worst few moths of my life and I just didn't want to talk about it.
620923 tn?1452919248 Yes! I need to rant! GAH!!!!!!! So, this morning I had an appointment with my NS. Apparently they called my house, asking to reschedule, but they never called a cell, to contact us that way. So when I got there, she saw me but was very very rushed - I am thinking there was an emergency that came up or something. That's fine, I understand that when life's are on the line, saving someones life is a top priority - I get that.
Avatar f tn I had the same thing--like leaning against a generator and getting vibrated but no one can see it or even feel it. It went away after about a month. It happened during an attack I had right before I learned my ANA was positive. Go to www.justanswer.com and pose your question to one of their medical specilaists. I am finally getting a diagnosis for something that my regular doctors have not been able to figure out for the last 5-6 years!
Avatar m tn inner tremors - i have felt something similar to a few of you - i have been really convinced there was a generator or something electric under the floor that was making me feel vibrations until i realized there really was nothing. i have no idea what it is, but i don't let it worry me too much - let me know though if you find out something. visible trembling/shaking - however, i've also gone into terrible trembling which was visible to all - this was a result of an extreme anxiety attack.
Avatar f tn I had my hip "pinned" with 4 3.5 inch screws when I was 11. After weeks of pain, getting a diagnosis was a relief, but now, 27 year later, I have been living with chronic pain. If another doctor tells me to "just take some motrin" or "how bout a cortizone shot" I'm going to B***H lick them! After x-rays, I went to see a orthopedic surgeon to see about getting my femur straightened out (7 years ago).
Avatar n tn Apart from treatment of the cause or in conditions wherein the cause remains unknown, in such conditions Anti seizure or anti epileptic medication like clonazepam against prescription is sometimes helpful esp. in persistent cases. You can use scented wax or incense sticks before sleeping. You also need to maintain good sleep hygiene. I suggest you to consult ENT specialist to rule out the cause. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn I noticed the vibrations off and on and just assumed it was connected to living in a thing with a motor and generator. I didn't even mention it. Then recently standing at the rim of the Grand Canyon (and no where near the coach) the vibrations were the most intense ever and I asked my DH what he thought that might be. He didn't have a clue what I was talking about. That's when I reached out. Apparently the whole coach thing is just a coincidence.
Avatar n tn I don't want to scare anyone- but you may want to ask your doctors about a seizure disorder. I've been smelling smoke for about a year also and about a month I had a grand mal seizure. I was told it is an uncommon but possilbe link so just mention it. I think the term for a "phantom smell seizure" is a partial seizure. Once again, this is only to help you ask questions and not to scare you.
Avatar m tn windex clorox zappers PCO treatment washing everything Ozone treatment Carpet powder tea trea oil Gralic / Pottasium / Magnsm Foggers Citronella candles Yes when i washed everything compulsively, had the Ozone generator turn on for hours, when gone out of the house, Took a bath with fungus soap, or sulphur soap, changed sheets before going to sleep, took garlic/magnesium/potassium supplements daily, all this combined= better sleep. Or @ least i believe it work. Its a mind game here.
Avatar n tn I think we could be experiencing some type of epileptic seizure, which only manifest itself when the brain is the sleeping mode. The sleep study will clear this one up. Just think how colorful things will be once your sleep study is conducted, and the answers start to pour in. Just a few more days--hang in there, my friend—Good luck—Please keep in touch. Bobito.
