Avatar m tn My concern with the antacids is that they might intefere with ribavirin absorption. Very little in the literature conclusive one way or the other. Wondering if any of you also take antacids and if you take them right after meals with your riba, or if you try to time the antacids a few hours before or after the riba.
233616 tn?1312790796 In comparison with corresponding plasma values of ribavirin following a high-purine meal, Cmax, AUC0-144 and AUC0-∞ of ribavirin following a low-purine meal were 136% (90% confidence internal [CI]: 120%-155%), 134% (90% CI: 118%-153%), and 139% (90% CI: 120%-159%), respectively. This study indicates that dietary purines have an effect on ribavirin absorption. Dosage regimens of ribavirin might need to be adjusted according to the purine content of the meal.
173930 tn?1196341998 There are reasons to treat, but where I come down is that the primary reason is to regress or stop liver damage with the trade off that you probably will feel no better after treatment, possibly even worse. With newer treatments around the corner, this should be of interest to anyone with little or no liver damage. What these anecdotal studies say to me is to wait, not treat with current drugs.
408795 tn?1324939275 What's in a name? I don't know but boceprevir changed their name and the way they look I guess. Here's a ton of information if you want to read it all. Victrelis, that's a new one for me, hopefully it's in the drug stores soon!! Avatar n tn I am currently being treated for Hepatitis C, with Interferon & Ribavirin. A friend just told me about a new drug, that comes out of Russia, trade name "Muraglycine" (N-actylglucosaminlmurlpeptide???), supposedly it has been used to treat Hep-C very successfully without the side effects that go with the Interferon. Have you heard of this drug "Muraglycine"? Apparently it has also been used to treat Juvenile onset diabetes, and some forms of cancer.

Avatar m tn I also had interferon monotherapy in I think 1995, then 6 months of interferon plus ribavirin, no response. Later interferon ribavirin and an experimental drug. Again no response my viral load did not decrease at all. I treated with Sovaldi and Olysio for 12 weeks but relapsed 12 weeks after treatment ended. After Harvoni was approved I treated with Harvoni for 24 weeks along with ribavirin for 15 of those weeks. That one worked and I am now 2.5 years cured.
Avatar m tn Kinda hard to make that comparison for me since I'm getting older and was a heavy user of drugs and alcohol from age 16-34. Anyway, I'm a psychiatric social worker by trade now, a fancy name for a helpful person who has gone to school and gets paid for being a helpful person! Thanks for the congrats.
408795 tn?1324939275 I left as much of the article as I felt was important and relavant to this forum. God Bless May 13, 2008 15 Tips for Managing Interferon-Ribavirin Side Effects by Nicole Cutler, L.Ac. Although it affects an estimated four to five million Americans, there is still no easy formula to eliminate the Hepatitis C virus (HCV).
Avatar n tn Hi Everyone, My name is Eduard, and I am from the Netherlands. I have a few questions about vx-950. In march-april 2005 I was in a 14 day trail with a mono study Telaprevir (32 persons in Germany and the Netherlands) At that moment Telaprevir was a powder, and they mix it with water, two times a day 1250mg. My medical situation went completley different than all the others. . After six months still 99% of the virus was gone. Between month 6 and 9 my virus went up, but still 93% was gone.
Avatar f tn Lots of people here have used the stuff. Generally, the trade name Neupogen. The information can be found at http://www.neupogen.com/pi.html. The stuff works pretty quick. In my expereince in about 24 hours. When I used it it was in series of three injections over 3 days and then repeated as the neuts decline again.

Avatar f tn The combination of ombitasvir, ritonavir, dasabuvir, and paritaprevir (with or without ribavirin), which will be marketed under the trade name Viekira Pak™, has proven highly effective in curing HCV genotype 1. The approval of this new regimen marks a significant step forward as it represents the second all-oral, interferon-free treatment for HCV to become available in just the last few months.
Avatar n tn However, I consulted with at least two doctors who were willing -- and eager -- to work with me on unorthodox approaches including very high dose ribavirin. Ironically, it's often the bigger name docs willing to do this sort of thing as long as there's reasonable science behind the approach. These are the fellows who run trials and often deviate from the standard 'cookbook'. Doctors like Dr. J. and Dr. D. in NYC, Dr. A. in Boston, Doctor S. in Miami, etc.
Avatar n tn yes I'm here, the name of the new drug coming out is Viramidine but will be sold under the name Tribavirin by Valeant Co. From what my Dr said it should hit the streets next year. This drug is for anti-anemic riba replacement. It is now used for children in hospitals for the flu at a lower dose of cause. I have been trying to get into a trial using this drug but was told the trials are only for geno 1's. ???? I said WHAT!!!
Avatar n tn Due to the 16-week duration of therapy and limited supporting data, this is recommended as an alternative regimen.” The trade name for this drug is Mavyret. So all is not lost you can still beat this thing. See your doctor and decide where to go from here.
Avatar f tn You will have a 2 out of 3 chance to receive the experimental drug boceprevir plus standard treatment with Peglntron and ribavirin, and a 1 out of 3 chance to receive standard treatment with Peglntron and ribavirin alone. The study subjects who receive Peglntron and ribavirin alone, will also receive a placebo, which by appearance looks like boceprevir, but doesn’t have any active medical ingredient.
901131 tn?1293748153 If treated, these patients should receive 4 weeks of peginterferon alfa and ribavirin followed by 44 weeks of VICTRELIS in combination with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin. ============================== "44 weeks of Victrelis"?!! I don't believe that under any circumstances Telaprevir (incivek) is to be used for any more than 12 weeks, in ANY response. http://pi.vrtx.com/files/uspi_telaprevir.
Avatar m tn Hemolytic Anemia is a known side effect of both Ribavarin and the Victrelis Here is a link (plus there are threads on the forum) Victrelis is the trade name for Bocprevir http://www.hivandhepatitis.
Avatar m tn Yes, due to circumstances beyond my control I now have the name vegas777...It is the first computer name I ever had and was prompted by my 1 year stay in Las Vegas... I went there for a 4 day trade show and stayed a year!!! LOL..I ended up buying a condo there...I lived in the Lakes area... I haven't been to Vegas in several years though, all new stuff there now...
Avatar f tn The treatment was approved in September 2013 in Japan under the trade name SOVRIAD™ and in November 2013 in Canada under the trade name GALEXOS™ for the treatment of genotype 1 hepatitis C. A Marketing Authorisation Application was submitted to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) in April 2013 by Janssen-Cilag International NV seeking approval of OLYSIO™ for the treatment of genotype 1 or genotype 4 chronic hepatitis C.
Avatar f tn How did this awful desease get the name the dragon, I think that is too good of a name for this awful **** !! A comment on sleep, I can not sleep at night, I have noticed that some of the symtoms the people in treatment have, I have on a smaller scale, I do not have the sores in my mouth or rashes. I do feel for the ones with the sores, my heart and prayers go out to you. The group of people in this forum are brave people, strong minded and putting one hell of a fight.
Avatar f tn There have been new drugs approved that can treat Hep c GT 3 successfully. That would be sofosbuvir trade name in the US Sovaldi. I do not know if they are available where ever you are located The recommended treatment for GT3 is 24 weeks with ribavirin. In clinical trials GT 3 patients without cirrhosis 84% were able to get rid of hep c.
Avatar f tn Also, Bristol Myers, Squibb is coming out with a med developed for, and trials done on GT3s, daclatasvir, which will have the trade name Daklinza, to be used with Sovaldi, the two only, for 12 weeks. Also, hepc is a slow developing disease, so you do have time to think things through and make sound decisions about treatment, when the time comes.
Avatar n tn Also, has anyone else ever tried to maintain a vegan lifestyle while taking the pegylated interferon + ribavirin? My doctor says I may have to go back to just being a vegetarian, but I'm hoping to stay vegan. I'd really appreciate any feedback. It'd be good to have advice from people who know what's really going to happen. Thanks.
Avatar m tn In an intent-to-treat analysis, the proportion of patients with undetectable HCV RNA levels was 75% in the group treated with telaprevir plus peginterferon and ribavirin, 75% in the group treated with peginterferon and ribavirin alone, and 88% in the group treated with telaprevir alone followed by peginterferon and ribavirin for 46 weeks. SVR rates were 50%, 63%, and 63%, respectively....
Avatar f tn At the 1986 trial, the defendants argued that because other algal products are sold as foods or food supplements, they too should be allowed to sell blue-green algae as food-changing the packaging, trade name, and distribution system if necessary. But the judge ruled that "the demand can no longer be controlled, even if the defendants have a desire to do it.
Avatar n tn There are two genotype 1 weight-based dosing schemes I know of for Ribavirin. The first doses at either 1000 or 1200mg/day -- and at your weight it would be 1000mg. The other goes from 800mg to 1400mg I believe and with that scheme 800mg sounds about right for your weight. That said, some of us are dosing higher (I'm doing 1200mg/day at 155lbs) -- just as some of us are dosing the Peg higher -- the reason being some studies suggest better SVR figures at higher doses.
