Avatar f tn Does anyone know other patient m Drug assistance programs other than vertex and jerks own I think there is something called PAM.
310500 tn?1227304634 Since taking riba without the peg is a waste of time and effort - have you checked with the drug companies patient assistance programs (commitment to care and for pegasys the pegassist programs) to find out if they can help your husband?
Avatar m tn I wonder if something has changed recently. I know some patient assistance programs in the past have stated they’ll deny assistance to insured, but on appeal they often will. Traditionally, both Roche and Schering Plough have provided assistance to uninsured as well as underinsured.
Avatar f tn make sure you are dosed adequately with the drug ribavirin; this should weight dosed rather than flat dosed. If you do treat, also discus how he/she intends to manage any side effects that arise; especially any problems with blood counts. These should be managed with rescue drugs rather than dose reduction of HCV meds, wherever possible. Best to you, and let us know how things go, OK?
179355 tn?1207410851 Typically, a treatment week is a peg shot followed by 6 days of riba. Some docs will have the patient end the riba with the last shot, others will suggest the ensuing days of riba. Check with your doc. When I get to the end of the dusty trail, I will not take riba after the last shot. "Me" time begins that night. But, I started th riba a week early, so it all balances out I suppose.
Avatar n tn S, call whichever of the following companies apply and talk to their Patient Assistance Programs. For Roche’s Pegasys, you will want to call Pegassist: Pegassist (Roche Pegasys system): 1-877-734-2797 Commitment to Care (Schering- Plough PEG-Intron system): 1-800-521-7157 Depending on income qualification, they will pay for part or all of the cost of your meds. Commitment to Care has fully paid for meds and shipping for me for the last two treatment years.
Avatar f tn The Interferon and ribavirin alone would cost roughly $20-25,000 per year. Patient assistance is available through the manufacturers; although I used them with Medicare part D in the past, I’ve been told things are changing with them, so you’ll want to call and inquire when your ready.
Avatar n tn Hi Leslie, The manufacturers of the drugs for HCV provide patient assistance for those that are uninsured, or underinsured; call whichever number is pertinent to your treatment: Pegassist (Roche Pegasys system): 1-877-734-2797 Commitment to Care (Schering- Plough PEG-Intron system): 1-800-521-7157 Good luck— Bill
Avatar m tn I recommend you work with BMS patient connect, who after determination of insufficient insurance, will refer you to and help steer you to the BMS Patient Assistance Org. Since Daklinza is not FDA for G2, try to get them to approve your app and get 6 mos worth (you'll need your GI to submit scrip). They'll tell you the Sovaldi is required, so if you have insurance, get your GI to submit for 6 mos of Sovaldi. Your GI will likely need to also prescribe Riba, as it's half the protocol.
140622 tn?1190102529 My hepatologist wants to lower the Ribavirin down to 600mg from 1200mg. I've heard negative reports here about doing just that. I'm trying for 72 weeks. Does anyone have any stories about doing this kind of reduction? Negative or Positive?? (for women...does finishing your period right before your blood test make any difference to your hemoglobin level?) I wil call my doc on Monday. I don't want to dose reduce if it will affect getting SVR. Now I'm very concerned.
Avatar m tn I believe that Victrelis is available on an “Exceptional patient” (Patient d’exception) basis, whereby the cost of treatment is covered by the RAMQ, but the entire therapy must be requested from and approved by the RAMQ for that patient alone under the supervision of the requesting physician.
Avatar m tn great news, can-do. especially the part about the assistance program. I wonder if Vertex can afford to do the same. Here's the dosing labeling. For treatment naive -- 4 weeks lead in with INF and RIBA, then 24 weeks with the 3 drugs if you are UND at 8 wks, or 44 weeks if you are not UND until 24 weeks.
Avatar m tn We are thinking that maybe he should quit the trial and continue on his own , with a patient assistance program from the companies that make th Ribavirin and Interferon. The Procrit may be covered under his french insurance, but not sure of that. Last possibility is to stay in the trial and accept a transfusion. Any thoughts? The last thing we want is for him NOT to cure after an EVR. Thanks!
Avatar n tn In your place, I would go through the motions, whatever is required, and if your insurance denies you, you can apply directly to Gilead (look up the patient assistance program), and they will likely give you the meds at no charge, or at a huge discount.
Avatar f tn Maximum Award Level $7,000 per year Eligibility Criteria 1) Patient should be insured and insurance must cover the medication for which patient seeks assistance. 2) The medication must treat the disease directly. 3) Patient must reside and receive treatment in the United States. 4) Patient’s income must fall below 500% of the Federal Poverty Level. Avatar n tn You might rethink abandoning treatment at this point. Have you called the manufacturer for patient assistance? Here are the numbers: Pegassist (Roche Pegasys system): 1-877-734-2797 Commitment to Care (Schering- Plough PEG-Intron system): 1-800-521-7157 How about Cobra from the employer? Maybe you and your doc can work out something for the remainder of the treatment.

Avatar m tn Do I tell my doctor that he is wrong? It doesn't help that I was denied patient assistance for Infergen and would have to pay for the medication myself (which I cannot). I can very likely get patient assistance for Peg-Intron. What should I do?
Avatar f tn I am off all meds now because insurance will not pay anymore. For me to continued it would be over 2500 a month. I have a great family and support group but there is only so much they can do. I would have like to try the daily shot of infergen and the pills of alinia but it was not ment to be. I will now go and do all the things that I have wanted and enjoy what is left.

Avatar f tn Patient Assistance Programs Americas Pharmaceutical companies have a long-standing tradition of providing prescription medicines free of charge to physicians whose patients might not otherwise have access to necessary medicines. Pharmaceutical companies operate these programs, commonly referred to as patient assistance programs, voluntarily. Many drug manufacturers offer patient assistance programs which can greatly decrease or entirely eliminate the costs of many medications.

Avatar m tn Olysio is approved for people with genotype 1 infection (the most common type in the US) in combination with ribavirin and interferon. Solvadi is approved for people with genotypes 1 and 4, in combination with interferon and ribavirin. People with genotypes 2 and 3 can use Solvadi with ribavirin alone. That means they will no longer have to take interferon which has many side effects that many people find makes treatment difficult.
