These past few years I've noticed a huge problem - I can't wear contact lenses anymore. All through high school (I'm only 21) I wore them basically every single day. Now my eyes don't even last a half hour without irritating me and drying out.
Right now I wear Acuvue Oaysis, which is supposed to be the best lenses for dry eyes.
Hi, I am in search of new contact lenses. I have severe dry eyes and don't know what to get. I used to have Acuvue 2 and felt they were too dry, so I my doctor recommended that I switch to Acuvue Oaysis. These were much worse. The lense felt like it was a thicker material and immediately sucked all the oxygen out of my eyes. During this period I also started on Restasis and even that doesn't seem to be working.
Ok a few things: contact lenses can cause more eye dryness when you already have dry eyes. If you have eye glasses wear them and stop wearing contact lenses. If you are taking Vitamin A stop that it causes more eye dryness. CHANGE doctors - you may need Restasis.
Also buy the night time artificial tears. It is like Vaseline in consistency.
re not too bad, but I know that this is not they way they were before. Can I use something with for my eyes that would not interfere with the Restasis. I've tried the artificial drops but I don't see any change. Any thing to clear my eyes a little........... And what are the restrictions for Restasis users, if any?????????????? By the way I am a contact lens wearer, but even with that I took a whole week off my lenses and the redness still didn't clear.
My eyes experience a mild redness (especially in the inside corners of eyes), burning, uncomfortable irritation with increased light sensitivity for the past three months that occurred initially during a trial of Xalatan (I was not wearing contact lenses at the time). I've been to three opthalmologists (one is a repected corneal/external disease specialist at university).
I had cataracts removed and restor lenses implanted over a year ago. I have suffered from blurry vision ever since. When I sit in the ophthalmologist's chair, I check out 20.25 in each eye. I've had plugs inserted and removed to increase tear production. I religiously use Restatsis night and morning. I use eye drops throughout the day. I have made countless visits to the Dr. and he keeps telling me to be patient and try different drops, etc.
Restasis: twice/day rest of your life. If you stop the dry eye comes back. Dry eye does not normally get better with time after age 40; usually not with people younger. But some young people that have dry eye due to medications such as for anxiety get better when the medication is changed.

Optimum Comfort by Contamac, supposedly rgp with material that allows great wettability ( in other words very low wetting angle).
Hi, I was diagnosed with 'Ocular Rosacea' and 'Dry Eye Syndrome'. I have used Restasis and have tried allergy drops. My eyes are always red and feel as if I have something in them (which is the bumps under my eyelids). Does anyone know what I can do about this. I've been to so many eye Dr's. and I cannot get them cleared up. I used to wear contact lenses and now I can no longer wear them. It has been almost 5 years since I was able to wear my contacts.
In 2004 I had a lasik surgery for medium myopia and before that I had contact lenses. Now I wear glasses for small myopia and astigmatism. I had this problem before the lasik surgery but it was rarely, after the lasik it became permanent. I've seen many doctors and the only cause they could find was dry eye.I 've tried many eye drops for dry eyes but no result. What else could cause me this photophobia?
t say that RGP lenses gave better clarity than the hybrids because my Rx and overall eye health was so different during the trial with RGP lenses vs. hybrid lenses (RGP and soft contact wear was done pre-retinal detachment/phakic/less problems with dry eye, and hybrid lens wear was done post-retinal detachment/aphakic/dry eyes)
The hybrid lenses are more expensive than RGPs and soft lenses and you must find a doctor who fits them.
Is it unusual to have that type of lasik so soon after the cataract sugery and will this improve my vision? My vision is much clearer in my right eye with my contact lens. I know you can't make a clear judgment without examining my eye, but is my surgeron looking for some reason my vision isn't are sharp as expected? She said my vision still might improve even after all that time. Thanks for you reply.
I take restasis twice a day. Have some tears. Have considerable atigmatism and wear polycarbonate lenses. My eyes don't seem to feel stressed when I don't wear my lenses, but feel stressed when I do. The prescription has been checked and rechecked and has not changed significantly over the last five years. Can the lenses (polycarbonate) and/or the astigmatism correction be causing my eye stress? (I am 85 years old and in good health. I take blood pressure medicine and a water pill.
eye dryness, solution incompatibility and toxicity, allergy, old lenses with protein buildup, etc. The exact problem will be determined by your doctor with a complete evaluation.
Hi all, I have a question about my contact lenses. I'll try to be as thorough as possible.
I've been wearing monthly soft contact lenses for 7 years to correct myopia (-4.25 left, -3.75 right, slight astigmatism in the left eye). I'm 26 and male. Occasionally I neglected proper care by not washing my hands or wearing them beyond a month but that was the exception. Ordinarily I didn't wear them beyond the prescribed periods, nor did I sleep with them in.
The power changes for the contact lenses will not help or hurt your eyes.
The real question is which variation is most comfortable to you.
Most patients do well with the lenses which best correct both eyes individually.
However, if one has become used to better vision in one eye or the other, it can be an odd feeling to actually have the other eye "see better".
I was sure that the ReStor lens, which I had implanted 4 weeks ago, was causing my problems with what I called waxy vision, but which my doctor calls fluctuating vision. After seeing him today, I have a better understanding of what is going on. Vision is good in the morning and gets worse later in the day. I'm not diabetic. The last three visits to my doctor have been at 4pm, 7:30 am, and today at 1pm. At each visit he was able to get my vision to 20/20 with a different prescription.
I started using soft contact lenses when I was 16 years (L = +8 and R = +7) it went ok until I was 20 years and got GPC. Then I tried many different lens types, but none worked, my eyelids swollen and I was very uncomfortable in the eyes. When I was 28 years, I found, however, some contact lenses which worked ok - Breath-O from Toray of Japan. I have now used lensest each day over the last 22 years - and can not use other brands than Toay.
hi. i wear dailies contact lenses only on special occasions. today i tried them on and i realized that i couldn't see very well far away, like reading signs because it was blurry. i made sure that i took proper steps and handled them with care but my vision was still blurry far away. i took them off and tried on my glasses and could see perfectly normal again. why would i see better with glasses then contacts. i have focus dailies with aquacomfort plus.
Since then, my right eye’s myopia progressed from just a -18D contact lens to a -20D contact lens with a -3D glasses over it. With glasses over a right -20D contact lens, I was able to see 20/40 (right eye) and drive.
When I turned 70 in 2008 and my right cataract made driving difficult, I opted for cataract surgery on my right eye. Its axial length was at the edge of the scope's range, 33mm.
I do not want to wear contact lenses constantly but was wondering whether you can get some contact lenses for a one-off use on a special occasion.
This may seem silly but I really want to go to MCM London cosplaying but most characters don't wear glasses, so, like I said, I want to find out whether there is such thing as one-off contact lenses just so I have a wider choice.
