Restasis and contact lens

Common Questions and Answers about Restasis and contact lens

restasis

Avatar f tn ), is reluctant to fit me for a contact lens due to the dry eyes. Do you think that the restasis would help the dry eye so that I may better tolerate a contact lens? If so, I will bring up this possibility at my next appointment. As always thank you!!!
Avatar n tn I found that for me the 1-day Acuvue was a better choice than the Acuvue Oasis (all the solutions dried out my eyes). I then used Restasis and had all four puncti permanently plugged. After 3 months of faithful Restasis use and allowing my eye to get used to having the punctal plugs, I've had significant improvement and can successfully wear contacts. I also take 2 mg of fish oil per day (good for dry eye).
Avatar f tn Any thing to clear my eyes a little........... And what are the restrictions for Restasis users, if any?????????????? By the way I am a contact lens wearer, but even with that I took a whole week off my lenses and the redness still didn't clear. Any advice would be great.....................
Avatar m tn I had cataract surgery on my left eye about seven weeks ago with a distant lens implanted. At first I was seeing fairly sharp images, but now my right eye with a contact lens is much sharper than the left eye. My doctor thought it was because of dry eyes, but I have been using Restasis for a month and my vision hasn't cleared up. I can still wear my glasses that I bought before the surgery and see very sharp out of the left eye with the glasses.
Avatar f tn One of main reasons people have to stop wearing contact lens in age 30-40. Lipiflow and ILP only good for dry eye associated with meibomian gland disease (MSD) not for dry eye itself. Best for moderate or severe is usually long term restasis, xiidra is wildy expensive. New super strength restasis just released (Cequa) have not had a chance to use.
Avatar n tn That would be up to you and your contact lens fitter. The restasis should not be put on the contacts but some people use restasis in the morning before putting them in and at bedtime after they're removed.
Avatar n tn My left eye was very uncomfortable but I still continued to wear them because I was out of the country, it came to a point which it was so uncomfortable which I was unable to keep it in my eye for even a minute. so I only wore one contact lens in my right eye. I noticed my left eyelid had become droopy, once I went back I stopped wearing contacts and its been about 3 years now.
Avatar m tn Is it unusual to have that type of lasik so soon after the cataract sugery and will this improve my vision? My vision is much clearer in my right eye with my contact lens. I know you can't make a clear judgment without examining my eye, but is my surgeron looking for some reason my vision isn't are sharp as expected? She said my vision still might improve even after all that time. Thanks for you reply.
Avatar n tn I am going for a second opinion tomorrow. I found this doctor myself. My doctor did say I could try the Restasis on the outside chance it may help or he would send me to see a woman doctor whom he claims also puts in a lot of these multifocal lenses. I still have faith in my doctor (he's pretty convincing) and I think he did a good job. He claims I've healed well, the lens is perfectly centered, etc.
Avatar f tn I am on Restasis twice daily and Optive for dry eyes. My eyes also seem to strain very quickly (working all day or driving several hours). I have blurred vision all the time, reading and close work is out of the question, must use a magnifier which does not stop blurring, just allows me to get the job done. Everything I read said that is was not a painful surgery, my right eye was and still is very painful. Check up reports say everything is o.k.
Avatar f tn Are you still trying to wear contact lens?
Avatar f tn I saw an opthomologist at that time and was told I had Blepharitis and was given two Rxs, FML and Azasite. The problem then resurfaced and then I was told it was Rosacea of the eye, but I dont have Rosacea of the skin or anything like that and everything I've read about Rosacea of the eye also shows it being related to the skin condition. The problem is only in my left eye. I also get a blurring feeling in that eye.
Avatar n tn s range, 33mm. After two weeks of no contact lens wearing, the cornea was measured; and a +6D IOL was ordered. The cataract surgery in early Dec 2008 was successful (no retinal detachment). But to get to 20/25, I will have to wear glasses -4D (left) and -10D (right), which is on order. I don’t know how well I’ll cope with these glasses. I have several options.
Avatar n tn In Dec of 2006 had Crystal Lens implant which gave me better vision but still had problems with reading and some distance. By July 2008 my eyes felt dry but the real problem has been the constant blinking and the need to close my eyes. I have to lift my eyelids to see. The doctor said I had some "dryness" but he felt that the Crystal Lens was working against me and not flexing enough to work with my eyes. I have not heard of anyone else with this severe condition.
Avatar f tn Some are how the glasses are measured by the optician putting the center of the glasses over the center of the pupil (call optical center matching pupillary distance) then there is the quality of the lens manufacturer, the radius of curviture of the back side of the lens (base curve) how curved the lens are (lens wrap) the material the lens is made of plastic, glass, photochromic, ultra-thing, and the angle the lens are held in front of the eye (pantoscopic tilt), size and shape and quality
Avatar m tn I take restasis twice a day. Have some tears. Have considerable atigmatism and wear polycarbonate lenses. My eyes don't seem to feel stressed when I don't wear my lenses, but feel stressed when I do. The prescription has been checked and rechecked and has not changed significantly over the last five years. Can the lenses (polycarbonate) and/or the astigmatism correction be causing my eye stress? (I am 85 years old and in good health. I take blood pressure medicine and a water pill.
Avatar m tn I would go for distance correction or slight nearsightedness in the right eye and try the contact lens solution in the left eye. If you have issues with that, you can always opt for cataract surgery (clear lens exchange) in the left eye. This is just my opinion though so think through it for yourself.
1021897 tn?1251674112 I underwent several test including the tear measuring test and was definitely diagnosed with chonic dry eye and have had collegen implants put in, but even they are not helping as much any more. I use Restasis daily and Lotimax only if my eyes are blood read and swollen due to inflammation. My last vist, I was told to keep using Restasis, but be more vigilant.

Avatar n tn a relative went thru lens operation that failed (eventually it was removed) , her eyes are very dry and she supers acute pain. any ideas how to solve the dryness / reduce the pain?
917763 tn?1311628896 May try them post tx though. Dr also said contacts only on occasion. He said being a woman and long term contact use is the culprit. Tx just makes it worse. Oh yeah, he said wash eyes every night because it keeps glands open. Use eye wipes (pharmacy) or Baby shampoo. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn ve always worn soft contact lens and have never had problems. When I would go for a check up, I always wanted to see more bold, but my dr said that my astigmatism wasn't bad enough to correct. Anyway, about 3 months ago at my last visit, my dr gave me a trial pair of contact lens that correct astigmatism. Right away I started having problems...the first being the contacts would get a film on them after only about 1/2 hour. We tried another brand, but these just made my eyes itch.
Avatar f tn Dear Ironman850, Dry eyes are a chronic condition. Restasis improves tear production and has been shown to improve progression of dry eyes. If your symptoms are improved off of Restasis, it is alright to stop. Dr. Feldman Sandy T. Feldman, M.D., M.S.
Avatar m tn eye dryness, solution incompatibility and toxicity, allergy, old lenses with protein buildup, etc. The exact problem will be determined by your doctor with a complete evaluation.
Avatar m tn Erm, I was wearing contact lens when i went out and went home i took out my contact lens and found that one of the contact lens in my right eye is torn and i was wondering where the other part of it went? I close my eyes and feel if it is still in my eyes but it seems like it isnt, I am scared that it is still in my eyes? This discussion is related to contact lens stuck in eye.
Avatar f tn Chronic steroids are a bad deal for many reasons including cataract formation, glaucoma, reactiviation of your Herpes and bacterial or fungal infections. I suspect your contact lens where will greatly make your eyes more red and irritated. I suggest you get an independent second opinion from a different cornea/external disease specialist.
