Restasis and contact lenses

Common Questions and Answers about Restasis and contact lenses

restasis

Avatar n tn These past few years I've noticed a huge problem - I can't wear contact lenses anymore. All through high school (I'm only 21) I wore them basically every single day. Now my eyes don't even last a half hour without irritating me and drying out. Right now I wear Acuvue Oaysis, which is supposed to be the best lenses for dry eyes.
Avatar f tn I was hoping that once my eye is feeling better, I could just use artificial tears to keep my eyes from drying so badly. He also changed my contact lenses to Acuvue Oasys. Any advice or info would be great.............................
Avatar n tn Hi, I am in search of new contact lenses. I have severe dry eyes and don't know what to get. I used to have Acuvue 2 and felt they were too dry, so I my doctor recommended that I switch to Acuvue Oaysis. These were much worse. The lense felt like it was a thicker material and immediately sucked all the oxygen out of my eyes. During this period I also started on Restasis and even that doesn't seem to be working.
Avatar f tn If you have eye glasses wear them and stop wearing contact lenses. If you are taking Vitamin A stop that it causes more eye dryness. CHANGE doctors - you may need Restasis. Also buy the night time artificial tears. It is like Vaseline in consistency.
169075 tn?1296078787 I went to two specialist who both told me I had dry eyes and would have to stop wearing contact lenses and my eyes would get better. My question is...how long should it take for me to notice any improvement because it has been a month now that I have not worn contact lenses and have been putting drops in my eyes several times a day and don't see to notice much difference.
Avatar f tn Any thing to clear my eyes a little........... And what are the restrictions for Restasis users, if any?????????????? By the way I am a contact lens wearer, but even with that I took a whole week off my lenses and the redness still didn't clear. Any advice would be great.....................
Avatar f tn Hi, I was diagnosed with 'Ocular Rosacea' and 'Dry Eye Syndrome'. I have used Restasis and have tried allergy drops. My eyes are always red and feel as if I have something in them (which is the bumps under my eyelids). Does anyone know what I can do about this. I've been to so many eye Dr's. and I cannot get them cleared up. I used to wear contact lenses and now I can no longer wear them. It has been almost 5 years since I was able to wear my contacts.
Avatar f tn My eyes experience a mild redness (especially in the inside corners of eyes), burning, uncomfortable irritation with increased light sensitivity for the past three months that occurred initially during a trial of Xalatan (I was not wearing contact lenses at the time). I've been to three opthalmologists (one is a repected corneal/external disease specialist at university).
Avatar f tn Restasis: twice/day rest of your life. If you stop the dry eye comes back. Dry eye does not normally get better with time after age 40; usually not with people younger. But some young people that have dry eye due to medications such as for anxiety get better when the medication is changed.
Avatar m tn ONSI- 56 = Comfort O2 in England by Lagado Corporation advertised as worlds first RIGID silicone contact lenses, supposed to give the advantages of rgp lenses and comfort of soft lenses and really low wetting angle. ( the lower the better). Optimum Comfort by Contamac, supposedly rgp with material that allows great wettability ( in other words very low wetting angle).
Avatar n tn In 2004 I had a lasik surgery for medium myopia and before that I had contact lenses. Now I wear glasses for small myopia and astigmatism. I had this problem before the lasik surgery but it was rarely, after the lasik it became permanent. I've seen many doctors and the only cause they could find was dry eye.I 've tried many eye drops for dry eyes but no result. What else could cause me this photophobia?
Avatar f tn Thanks. I didn't know contacts could be thinner. For those who don't have thick prescriptions, yes, even contact lenses get thicker at higher powers and become uncomfortable. I have monthlies and will look into your suggestion.
Avatar m tn if someone wore your contact lenses whom had HIV and then after 1 week you wear the same contact lenses can you catch HIV
Avatar m tn Your doctor is trying to treat dry eye keratopathy using tear drops and restasis. THis might help improve vision. Also there may be some posterior capsule opacification requiring a simple, very safe, yag laser capsulolotomy. Sometimes the yag laser procedure needs to be done early on like this. Generally after 90 days, the eye should be stable and suitable for the yag laser if needed.
184420 tn?1326739808 I went to my eye doctor and he put me on Lotemax and Restasis drops and they have helped immensely. He said he is going to keep me on the Restasis for the entire time I am on treatment. Personally I would see an eye doctor for this problem. An eye doctor can examine your eyes to be sure there is nothing else gouing on with them. The drugs can cause some eye problems so, in my opinion, it is best to get to the bottom of any symptoms .
Avatar m tn What are the difference between ordinary lenses and hybrid contact lenses?
Avatar f tn If contact lenses were posted from a hot country would this affect the contact lenses. The temperature affected the seal on a box of solutions. Would it affect or damage the lenses?
Avatar f tn Thank you Dr for the reply.... And if eye drops are used... Can contact lenses be worn?
Avatar m tn I take restasis twice a day. Have some tears. Have considerable atigmatism and wear polycarbonate lenses. My eyes don't seem to feel stressed when I don't wear my lenses, but feel stressed when I do. The prescription has been checked and rechecked and has not changed significantly over the last five years. Can the lenses (polycarbonate) and/or the astigmatism correction be causing my eye stress? (I am 85 years old and in good health. I take blood pressure medicine and a water pill.
Avatar f tn They both did a vision test and it shows 20/25 and 20/30 so neither one will prescribe correction lenses bc they said I see better with the naked eye than I do with a prescription. How can that be??? I have since gone to my optometrist with my frustrations because I couldn't believe that an opthamologist would not give me a prescription. My optometrist friend too said I could see better with my naked eye than I could with the lenses he switched back and forth.
Avatar m tn eye dryness, solution incompatibility and toxicity, allergy, old lenses with protein buildup, etc. The exact problem will be determined by your doctor with a complete evaluation.
917763 tn?1311628896 May try them post tx though. Dr also said contacts only on occasion. He said being a woman and long term contact use is the culprit. Tx just makes it worse. Oh yeah, he said wash eyes every night because it keeps glands open. Use eye wipes (pharmacy) or Baby shampoo. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Hi all, I have a question about my contact lenses. I'll try to be as thorough as possible. I've been wearing monthly soft contact lenses for 7 years to correct myopia (-4.25 left, -3.75 right, slight astigmatism in the left eye). I'm 26 and male. Occasionally I neglected proper care by not washing my hands or wearing them beyond a month but that was the exception. Ordinarily I didn't wear them beyond the prescribed periods, nor did I sleep with them in.
Avatar f tn I don't know if this is sort of the same, but anyhow,,I only wear my right contact lense now because with them both in, I can't read.....at first my doc was making the left one weaker so that I can read with my lenses in (I don't need reading glasses only need lenses for distance) and then I told her I just put one lense in and its so much better - I can see distance - and can read whenever I want real easy if I only wear one lense......she said its fine to do that.
Avatar m tn I started using soft contact lenses when I was 16 years (L = +8 and R = +7) it went ok until I was 20 years and got GPC. Then I tried many different lens types, but none worked, my eyelids swollen and I was very uncomfortable in the eyes. When I was 28 years, I found, however, some contact lenses which worked ok - Breath-O from Toray of Japan. I have now used lensest each day over the last 22 years - and can not use other brands than Toay.
