Restasis blepharitis

Common Questions and Answers about Restasis blepharitis

restasis

Avatar n tn I have blepharitis and really dry eyes from being on roaccutane 5 months ag. Being outside on a windy day or in air conditioning is unbearable and eyes get extremely bloodshot. Eye drops (have tried many different ones, Optive seems to be the most effective but) don't seem to help much besides when I wake up with extremely dry eyes sometimes..
Avatar n tn If you use up all the restasis in each dropperette before opening a new one you will reduce your costs by 50-75%
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with dry eye, blepharitis, clogged glands in March. I was prescribed Retasis, which seems to be helping. I use warm compresses and wash with baby shampoo twice a day. However, I continue to have inflamed eyelids, I've lost most of my eyelashes and my eyes get infected constantly. I have been using zylet, and dioxcycline orally. My doctor insists I keep using restasis even though my eyes are constantly infected. I thought this was contraindicted.
Avatar n tn I have had severe dry eye and blepharospasms since June 2008. I have been on Lotemax & Restasis for at least 6 mos. After I lubricate my eyes, why do they close? I need to work and how much longer until the blepharospasms go away? I have been to many doctors and stopped all medications I was taking over 2 mos. ago. The blepharitis is mild now.
Avatar f tn I then tried Restasis for 3 months.and all it did was burn, so I stopped. If you read the fine print, Restasis only works in 15% of the people. I found that liquid eye drops can aggravate the situation because they don't seem to contain the "oily" tears that are needed to protect the eye from drying. Often I would get headaches that started with my eyes hurting. I finally found that eye ointments works and Genteal PM was the best.
Avatar m tn I have discussed restasis eye drops with my optometrist and he told me that it wasn't a good idea. He also told me that he sees no signs of blepharitis and that it's probably allergies and gave me Opticrom to use (which were unsuccessful and stung my eyes and made them redder temporary -- as the side effect). He also said that the tear film over my eyes is very thin.
Avatar f tn I have had severe dry eyes since last June, including all the symptoms such as stabbing pains when I wake up. After 2 steroid drops, Sooth XP, Freshtears gel at night, and now finally Restasis and Lotemax, I see no improvment. I have been taking the Restasis for 5 months now. If it was going to work, would it have worked by now? I show no signs of improvment. After spending lots of money that is hard for me to come up with, I am at my wits end. Any other suggestions?
429949 tn?1224691579 My opthalmologist has just put me on Restasis eye drops. Does anyone have any experience with these drops or have had any bad side effects from using them? I know what the information on the prescribing list says, but I trust someone who has actually taken them more than what that insert inside the box says! Any info would help!
Avatar f tn Thank you for the prompt reply. Restasis is only available in the U.S. and a prescription is necessary I was told. I am in Montreal. What exactly is in this medication that is so helpful? Can a Canadian cross the border, visit a clinic, and get such a prescription because at this point, I am ready to try just about anything. I see the top ophthamologist at one of the hospitals in Montreal and he told me to search the net for info on SLK as the man runs he has so many patients.
Avatar f tn I also had an infection in the left eye which cleared up with an antibiotic/antiflammatory drug and the Ophthalmalogist then started me on Restasis. The left eye still has pain. Can you still have dry eye with Restasis? Maybe this is the cause of the pain. Also the floaters are still in the left eye. Can the floaters cause pain also?
Avatar m tn We have been on Restasis with spectacular results for over 8 years. There are two other drops like Restasis, xiidra which patients do not like and is very expensive and Cequa which is same medicine as restasis but stronger concentration. Ask you ophthalmologist about Restasis (cyclosporin) think it just became available as generic.
807912 tn?1242136155 You might use the search feature and read about dry eye and blepharitis. Discuss with your retina MD or general Eye MD. You may need restasis if the problem persists.
Avatar f tn My partner was diagnosed with blepharospasm over a year ago, then recently with blepharitis. He has seen several consultants, the current consultant believes it may not be blepharospasm and has referred him to a clinical psychologist. Our lives have been put on hold - as my partner is unable to work, drive, or live a normal life. His condition has similar symptoms to blepharospasm - ie involuntary closure of his eyes, made worse with bright lights, sun, windy conditions etc.
Avatar n tn I have noticed the burning sensation you have discussed. What is the success rate for Restasis for people who have tried it and stuck to the Restasis program.
Avatar n tn I have been told I have blepharitis, eyelid margin disease and meibomitis. It will never go away, it just gets worse, had it about 3 years, can barely see. I also get this film on my face and now get picky itchy rashes that can scar and the dermatologist gave me a highly concentrated cortisone cream which doesnt help and she wont help me anymore. I also hve chalazon, gritty stuff that comes out of my eyes all day long. Use the baby shampoo for my eyes. Stopped using eye makeup.
Avatar m tn In early Oct. 08 it felt like something was in my eye. I flushed it, used drops that may have been expired for some time as we just moved & did not through out all meds. I then flushed it under the tub faucet and it burned for 15-20 secs. I did not feel anything after that, but it has never looked the same. The left eye is redder most of the time and burns & itches from time to time. I'm on Restasis and 50mg of Doxy. I'm 42 yr old male.
Avatar n tn The lid is red and swollen and it hurts. I have been diagnosed with ocular rosacea and blepharitis in the past. The only thing that has worked is doxycycline 50mg 1x/day. My Ophthalmologist and Dermatologist don’t want me taking doxy long term (why I don’t know since it works) and put me on Oracea, which doesn’t do the trick. Does anyone know what these pustules are? How should they be treated?
Avatar f tn You need to see an ophthalmologist. Dry eyes are frequently associated with blepharitis. You many need treatment with medical drops, plugs, lid hygiene, etc. Dr. O.
429949 tn?1224691579 My opthalmologist put me on Restasis about three weeks ago, but I didn't start it until today. I wanted to do some checking into the possible side effects first! The one side effect that concerned me was blured vision. I have had enough blured vision to last me a life time. I had it straight for almost a year, and now it is almost gone, don't want no more.
Avatar m tn I ordered the Restasis on line but it will not come in 2 weeks plus the kick in time will be at least 1 month. Can the topical corticosteroids like Lotemax be used to treat irritation caused by dry eye ? Is it safe to just use it for a temporary like 2 weeks.
Avatar m tn If you are female older than 40 tears dysfunction syndrome (AKA dry eye syndrome is #1 cause). If younger female or male blepharitis #1 cause. You could also have exposure keratitis. Try Refresh-PM ointment in both eyes at bedtime and be sure you do not sleep with a fan or draft blowing over you.
917763 tn?1311628896 Eye Dr said not to use fan and gave me Lotemax for short term use (I use it occasionally but not too often because of rebound effect it can cause). He also gave me Restasis eye drops but I decided not to use them because they work thru immune system and I am on week 49 of 72. Didn't want to chance it. May try them post tx though. Dr also said contacts only on occasion. He said being a woman and long term contact use is the culprit. Tx just makes it worse.
429949 tn?1224691579 I have been on Restsis eye drops for about two weeks and I am already seeing some changes for the good! I have had Severe dry eye, blepharitis and Meibomian gland dysfunction ever since I had the acute attack in 2006. The Meibomian glands secrete an oil that is essential to the tear film, and they get clogged and stop working correctly. Blepharitis is inflamation of the eyelids. They both are very painful conditions that I have been trying to get under control for two years now!
Avatar m tn Im a 23yr old male. I have been seeing halos around lights for about a month now. They started in my right eye a couple of days after a bad case of viral conjuntivitis (pink eye). I went to see an ophtalmologist who told me I had "scars" in my retina and put me on RESTASIS® (cyclosporine ophthalmic emulsion) 0.05% and Flarex for two weeks. After a couple of days using the drops the halos disapeared, but they came back about 2 days after I stopped using the drops.
493068 tn?1224765315 of Doxycycline, Erythromycin Ointment at night and during days of extreme pain. I also use Travatan and use Restasis. and yesterday the opthamologist doctor put me on Lotemax. I can see some better today but still have full blown rosacea in both eyes...To live with pain in your eyes you can not escape it. Do you know of anything we are missing? Thnaks again!
