Relpax medication

Common Questions and Answers about Relpax medication

relpax

Avatar n tn Did they instruct you that if you take too many Relpax in a week that you can have migraine rebound? I too have Relpax and my script says no more than 2/day and 3/week because if I do it could cause migraine rebound.
1088430 tn?1259159773 Also, In case your insurance doesn't cover your entire Relpax prescription, I am posting a link to a coupon for $15 off of your Relpax prescriptions. You apparently can't use this coupon if you have any sort of federal or state insurance, or if your private insurance covers 100% of the prescription. Otherwise, you can print this coupon and use it every time you fill your Relpax prescription (but it expires next April).
Avatar m tn My 18 year old son has terrible migraines and has tried the Imitrex also with terrible results. He has been using the Relpax and within 20 to 30 mins and only one Relpax pill the headache is gone! He suffered so many years wiht Migraines and now with his dose of Nortriptylin and his relpax as a backup he is living headache free. Definitely try the Relpax.
1508698 tn?1360215710 hi sorry you are having the headaches...i used to get them as well....luckily i haven't had one in a long time....i've read that Imitrex isn't a narcotic so maybe ask about that?? i don't know anything about it, never taken it but a friend of mine did....and when i had them, i took Excedrin Migraine..otc...it seemed to help. hope you feel better soon!!
Avatar f tn What is the best way to treat migraine, when you've taken the medicine your Dr. has given you, but it's not working? I take Relpax 40 mg., sometime it helps and sometime it doesn't.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Relpax 40 ml for the coming on of a migraine. I have been getting fewer and fewer over the years. However, I am only allowed 9 pills for the month thru my health insurance. Is there another new migraine medicine out there that I could get that would be similier but would allow me more pills for the month.
Avatar n tn Hi! First off... I use zomig nasal spray for acute therapy. I use topamax 125mg daily for preventative therapy. I also use 400mg of B2 daily for preventative therapy. To supplement acute therapy, I use naproxen (a prescription NSAID). As for some suggestions... yeah... what DrNoopurMD said!
Avatar n tn Another good option is Relpax. It is a tablet BUT one of the benifits is that it helps with vomiting also. I did fine on this and I'm a huge vomiter (yuck, lack of a better word). Sure wish I had insurance still...Anyway, I'd seriously think of giving Relpax a shot as I was for sure it wouldn't work and it did wonders.
Avatar f tn I'm 25 years old and got my arrhythmia diagnosed for the first time today, so I'm a bit clueless here. A few weeks ago, my PCP put my on blood pressure meds to control my slightly elevated bp, which was when I started noticing my heart racing very easily, I would black out if I stood up quickly- and things just kept getting worse. I stopped the new medication after 5 days of taking it.
Avatar f tn What about Aleve, indomethacin, and the triptans (Zomig, Imitrex, Maxalt, Relpax) in the event that I do end up getting a migraine during this time? I was told I could take tylenol, not that it would dent one of my headaches. I asked the audiologists office but apparently they forgot to ask and now the audiologist is out of town. This would figure! Thanks for your help in advance!
Avatar f tn My husband was perscribed Cymbalta along with Imitrex and Relpax for migranes. He went into a coma and had to be on a respirator in ICU for 3 days. Is this seretonin syndrome? The doctor claimed it was just a coma brought on by an intese migrane! Weird, Huh?
Avatar f tn I have heard that Topamax is another good medication for migraines. Also another migraine medication is Relpax, in addition to others. The physician above describes well the different types of migraines. You might also have an underlying condition as well. I would definitely talk with your parents about seeing a neurologist. I hope you feel better soon!
Avatar n tn I also use Relpax, as needed, for migraines (which has been on a daily basis for the past week..so much for the KeppraXR). Relpax is the only thing I have found in the past 8 years that works (it turns my migraines back into plain old headaches). I am still trying to pay my medical bills on my own...I constacted five organizations that assist with medical bills...all said they are no longer able to help...donations are down. What is 'pronex'?
Avatar n tn My doctor has diagnosed me with migraines ( I get them about every two weeks now and am on my second medication to try and help with them- Relpax had no affect) but this headache is more like a tension headache. I have noticed that there are two spots on my forehead that seem very sensitive to pressure. They are right along my hairline on the right and left top of my forehead. Has anyone else experienced anything like this.
318073 tn?1197565324 I was diagnosed with fibro and cfs about a year ago, I have been dealing with the pain and the only meds I take at this time is baclofen I only noticed cause I stopped taking it for two months is it helps with my headaches which I usually only get on the left side of my head lol does is that normal? I usually now only get bad really bad headaches now when I get my period, and I can deal for now with the pain sometimes it feels like someone is taking a machete and cutting off my knees.
397977 tn?1201264847 I have tried a number of migraine medicines over the years and found relief with Maxault, Relpax and even Excedrin Migraine however, the last 3-4 months, those drugs don't seem to help anymore. I got my tubes tied in December 2007 but continued taking the Yaz until Jan 18th 2008. I had my period Jan 21st-26th and got a bad headache the last day of my cycle. I am anxious to see what the month of February will be like with no BC pills in my system.
1413564 tn?1281822991 I had to go to the ER lst week, they told me that I should take benadryl and ibuprofen together with a medication for nausea if I have it. If you have any prescriptions, they told me I could take my ultram (I have Fibromyalgia) with the benadryl and nausea med (Have it for side effects of FIbromyalgia) and it works like a charm. Weirdest thing too, because I have had migraines for 15 years and this worked pretty fast and didn't make me totally out of it. It was kinda cool.
397977 tn?1201264847 Thanks for the reply. I have already tried the imitrex pills AND nose spray. That is the first thing my doctor put me on. It worked for a while but then like everything else, its not helping any longer. After the Imitrex, I tried Maxualt and Relpax. They both use to work. When Maxualt didn't, the Relpax would but now those don't even work. Plus, the Relpax is expensive. It cost like $10 a pill WITH INSURANCE!
1088430 tn?1259159773 gave steriods 1st (no help)then Fioricet(no help).Stopped those two, sent to neur.Gave relpax shot in office (ist relief EVER in wks!)relpax rx,temp. toradol rx to get through "rough patch" and nightly "anti-depressent" for nerve pain.Trying to not overuse anything to avoid "rebound cycles".
Avatar m tn Thanks for your advise but more medication is not good for the liver. Remember every med effects the liver. But we will try a Neurologist.
Avatar n tn Good afternoon. Since starting at her present college, my daughter has been experiencing migraine headaches not long after sitting down in her classes each day. She has noticed that the headaches are very, very bad with accompanying dizziness and feeling of being "out of it"; however the symptoms subside once she has been out of class for several hours. She says she almost feels as though there are little brain zaps occuring when the headaches start.
Avatar n tn I have had migraines for ten years and I take relpax at the onset of a headache, sometimes though it gets to be too often and I cannot take relpax anymore than 3 times a week I know that my neck has quite a lot of knots and i get a lot of pain from my back especially neck before a migraine and I do believe they start from there. Does anyone know if physical therapy help migraines? can anyone help in pointing me towards the right thing?
Avatar f tn Welcome to MedHelp's fibro / CFS forum ! I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and have struggled with migraines (mostly hormonal) for years. There are only two things that I have found that have knocked out my migraines.... massage therapy and a medication called, "Relpax". Relpax is very expensive (even with my co-pay --- $60), but it works wonders for my migraines.
Avatar n tn I am wondering if cramps/muscle contraction/muscle rigidity/spams can occur in the head and cause so much pain? I take Relpax which helps when i have the most severe headache but after a short while my headache returns. I have pain that starts from the back of the head, it spreads to other areas often. Sometimes the pain starts in front of the head and in the middle or top of the head.
Avatar f tn Been on a lot of different meds and nothing seems to truly work. If my headache is an actual migraine, then relpax does work for me. However, I've been having this pressure at the top of my head for weeks now and it has gotten much worse. When I take relpax for it, it makes it a little better, but not 100%. The pain sometimes goes behind my eyes and then I can't even do my job..which is computer related. Now is pain has moved to the back of my head to the right side behind my ear.
551116 tn?1288190247 However, when someone has used several medications for a period of time, they can develop a new type of headache called medication-rebound or medication-overuse headache, whereby the frequent doses of medication start perpetuating your headache instead of treating it. There is therapy for this type of headache: medications should not all be stopped abruptly but rather one should slowly be replaced by another for a brief period by an experienced specialist.
