Relpax during pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about Relpax during pregnancy

relpax

Avatar n tn I have a headache almost everyday of the week and a migraine 2-3 times per month. I only take the Relpax during my migraines and may take tylenol, ibuprofen, or excedrin for my headace without any relief. My MD had spoken with me about taking medicine daily to prevent the occurence of my migraines. I really do not want to take another daily med because I want to have a baby in the next couple of years. The Relpax gives me really bad "jet lag" the whole rest of the day after taking it.
Avatar m tn My 18 year old son has terrible migraines and has tried the Imitrex also with terrible results. He has been using the Relpax and within 20 to 30 mins and only one Relpax pill the headache is gone! He suffered so many years wiht Migraines and now with his dose of Nortriptylin and his relpax as a backup he is living headache free. Definitely try the Relpax.
Avatar n tn Another good option is Relpax. It is a tablet BUT one of the benifits is that it helps with vomiting also. I did fine on this and I'm a huge vomiter (yuck, lack of a better word). Sure wish I had insurance still...Anyway, I'd seriously think of giving Relpax a shot as I was for sure it wouldn't work and it did wonders.
Avatar n tn Did they instruct you that if you take too many Relpax in a week that you can have migraine rebound? I too have Relpax and my script says no more than 2/day and 3/week because if I do it could cause migraine rebound.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Relpax 40 ml for the coming on of a migraine. I have been getting fewer and fewer over the years. However, I am only allowed 9 pills for the month thru my health insurance. Is there another new migraine medicine out there that I could get that would be similier but would allow me more pills for the month.
1088430 tn?1259159773 t cover your entire Relpax prescription, I am posting a link to a coupon for $15 off of your Relpax prescriptions. You apparently can't use this coupon if you have any sort of federal or state insurance, or if your private insurance covers 100% of the prescription. Otherwise, you can print this coupon and use it every time you fill your Relpax prescription (but it expires next April).
Avatar f tn My dr recently told me that they are changing one of my meds from lortab to norco, same dosage but less acetaminophen. They also said they would be changing from 3x to 4x per day. I had a migraine during visit and wasn't thinking very clearly, so I didn't think to ask why the increase. I will ask this during my next visit, but in the meantime am wondering if anyone had had a similar situation or may offer any info. Thank you and best wishes for a great day.
Avatar f tn What is the best way to treat migraine, when you've taken the medicine your Dr. has given you, but it's not working? I take Relpax 40 mg., sometime it helps and sometime it doesn't.
1508698 tn?1360215710 I too suffer from migraines, but a bit more frequently than you. The first med I tried was Imitrex, which made me very sick to my stomach. I couldn't keep it down. I tried Frova, which just didn't work. Then I tried Relpax, and that was the ticket. Keep in mind that all 3 are triptans, but that doesn't mean they are the same either. The Relpax I take makes me incredibly tired, but not sick to my stomach, and it takes care of the migraine within 30 mins.
397977 tn?1201264847 Almost 26 had my first baby, only had one or 2 migraines during my pregnancy. Then during labor (huge change in hormones) I had a mega migraine in the hospital. Then slipped back into my monthly migraines plus in between and heavier periods. Had my second baby at age 29 and started getting heavier and heavier periods and migraine after migraine. Finally, so heavy I became anemic and they wanted to put me back on birth control. I reluctantly tried it, I was asking for a hysterectomy.
20922415 tn?1661860103 During the reproductive years, the pituitary gland in the brain generates hormones (follicle-stimulating hormone [FSH] and luteinizing hormone [LH]) that cause a new egg to mature and be released from its ovarian follicle each month. As the follicle develops, it produces the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone, which thicken the lining of the uterus called the endometrium.
10507009 tn?1410649642 In high school they began getting worse and I was prescribed a migraine medicine called “Relpax”. After a couple years they switched the medicine to “Maxalt.” I am now 22 years old and was prescribed “Zolmig/Zolmitriptan” about a year ago. The doctor believed the dissolvable dose would be able to work faster and be more beneficial. I began getting migraines about two-four times a month and the Zomig was helpful. However about two months ago my migraines increased to two-four times a week!
Avatar n tn I also use Relpax, as needed, for migraines (which has been on a daily basis for the past week..so much for the KeppraXR). Relpax is the only thing I have found in the past 8 years that works (it turns my migraines back into plain old headaches). I am still trying to pay my medical bills on my own...I constacted five organizations that assist with medical bills...all said they are no longer able to help...donations are down. What is 'pronex'?
598381 tn?1219502246 Hello. I have had the same symptoms as you and have been begging my doc to test me for menopause, if there is such a test, for the last several years. They won't even discuss it. I have had trouble sleeping, wake up exhausted every single morning (for years), hot flashes in the night (sometimes during the day - and sometimes chills), I have severe bloating, cramping, the cramps have worsened over the years. My periods are getting heavier and heavier and closer and closer together.
Avatar n tn I have had migraines for ten years and I take relpax at the onset of a headache, sometimes though it gets to be too often and I cannot take relpax anymore than 3 times a week I know that my neck has quite a lot of knots and i get a lot of pain from my back especially neck before a migraine and I do believe they start from there. Does anyone know if physical therapy help migraines? can anyone help in pointing me towards the right thing?
Avatar f tn Withdrawal effects from pain medications, ergots and caffeine also produce this pattern sometimes. During the early morning hours, the body tends to produce less of its natural painkillers and adrenalin is released in larger quantities during this time, causing headache attacks. Inform your doctor if your present medications are not helping for proper management. A change of medication or dosage may be indicated. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn Been on a lot of different meds and nothing seems to truly work. If my headache is an actual migraine, then relpax does work for me. However, I've been having this pressure at the top of my head for weeks now and it has gotten much worse. When I take relpax for it, it makes it a little better, but not 100%. The pain sometimes goes behind my eyes and then I can't even do my job..which is computer related. Now is pain has moved to the back of my head to the right side behind my ear.
Avatar f tn I went to the Doctor yesterday and he just figures I'm having migraines. Is this normal for a migraine? I was walking to the lab to get blood work done today and thank goodness I wasn't very far from home yet. I blacked out in the middle of a busy intersection and was nearly hit by a car. The jerk behind the wheel was still coming at me laying on the horn and I barely was able to get out of the way when I realized what was happening.
Avatar f tn So bad Iv made stupid comments about wishing I was dead and that God would just take me from the pain. I take relpax for my migrianes it's a perscription. And I also have immitrex injections. It's a shot I give in my leg for migrianes. I use a sinus rinse to help with the pressure and congestion and after a couple days it helps with the explosion feeling. I hope this helps! U can get the sinus rinse bottles at any drug store and go to a dr to get perscription of relpax or immitrex.
Avatar f tn During a resent migraine attack after taking the shot and relpax I touched the back of my head and had what felt like an inflated artery that was very painful. I've suffered from migraines and have never had this happen can anyone tell me if you have seen this happen before and if you have any other advice. I had a cat scan on Friday and am waiting for results. But, it feels as if the headache is a cloud waiting to decend upon me again.
618913 tn?1234747600 Hi, I don't know if anyone has any advice. I have had a headaches since last Friday (off and on) They got worse on Wednesday with really bad nausea and I had to go into my neurologist and he gave me an IV treatment. They gave me extra pain meds and nausea meds and said I'd feel like I was punched in the head the next day but that the IV treatment was successful. I felt that way the next day but I still have remnant headaches. Today I'm even sound sensitive.
Avatar n tn I do have a history of migraines, and sometimes this feels like I am on the verge of a migraine with this condition. I have tried Mazalt and Relpax and neither really help this current condition. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am a 36 yo female.
507619 tn?1211845850 i had been a migraine sufferer for 20 years....there are very specific migraine meds out there if you have TRUE migraines (imitrex, relpax, all that kinda stuff)....i got started on the hydros due to chronic daily tension headaches but never really used the hydros for my migraines....only used the prescribed migraine med....just don't try to convince yourself that the codeine/hydros are working to take away your migraines....cuz they really aren't....that's what all the imitrex, etc.
Avatar f tn Welcome to MedHelp's fibro / CFS forum ! I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and have struggled with migraines (mostly hormonal) for years. There are only two things that I have found that have knocked out my migraines.... massage therapy and a medication called, "Relpax". Relpax is very expensive (even with my co-pay --- $60), but it works wonders for my migraines.
1035252 tn?1427227833 Tank you for replying...that's how I was viewing the situation but I'm sure you know what it feels like to doubt yourself when it comes to pain management...I'm so frustrated and I've gotten to the point where we've tried nearly every common and uncommon treatment for migraines (including acupuncture, vitamin therapy, diet changes...etc) and I wear sunglasses every time I step out of my house, even if it's cloudy out...
