Avatar m tn Set small goals and achieve them one step at a time. Fuel the body with good nutrients. Attitude is a big factor too. Look at food as fuel. (Which is hard I know, but try. lol) Start looking at processed junk food as the poison it really is, and as hard as it is, try to keep a positive attitude. Challenge yourself and celebrate every small success (but not with food!) and don't beat yourself up if you slip up. Changing your diet is a very difficult thing to do.
Avatar f tn The paleo diet is the healthiest form of low-carb diet, IMO. I would not go on a low-carb diet that was composed of low-carb junk food. If you eat a paleo diet, you are only eating real, whole foods (no junk food) and no grains. It's a lot of meat, vegetables, and healthy fats.

More can be lost through water weight with diuretics and crash dieting can also increase fat loss but only for a short time. When we lose fat too fast our metabolism will slow in order to conserve fat (fuel) deposits (starvation mode) and that creates new problems such a resetting the metabolic rate and fat gains during the plateau, etc.

Type 2 is when nothing is destroyed, but for some reason, you're either not producing enough insulin, or the insulin that you produce is not efficient enough. There's a clear distinction between the two, as type 1 is autoimmune 'disease'. In all cases the pancreas is still performing all the other functions correctly.

Avatar n tn It sounds like you need a specialist that can help you with both carb counting and your insulin intake. Any changes in your insulin intake can take time to adjust. The fact that you are testing so much shows that you are trying to take care of your diabetes. Have you talked to your doctor about the highs and lows? Has your doctor talked to you about going to the pump? There are so many varibles that come into play here. I would suggest speaking to your doctor.
Avatar f tn t forget that what goes into your mouth is a form of fuel that gives you energy and because you have diabetes, the food that you eat that is converted by the body into glucose is not being utilised properly. The only thing that doesn't cause sugar spikes or has any calories is plain water. Hope that helps.

Every thing that you observe that seems frightening, like numbness, tingling etc. is adding fuel to the fire because your mind is saying, "See? I have something wrong that is unidentified." In reality you probably don't even have ANY of these "symptom" activities you list or if you do, not any more than before.

A regular exercise program (approved by your doctor) can also be helpful. Limiting alcohol, fried/fatty foods, and obviously strict management of your carbohydrate intake are also important. I don't know enough about diabetes and need some help. She also doesn't have medical insurance and hasn't seen her doctor in a few months. And she lost a TON of weight, but unless she eats like that forever she'll gain it back as quick as she lost it.
