prozac xanax

I'm currently taking xanax, and will start prozac tomorrow. Does anyone know of any possible interaction between xanax and prozac taken together? My doctor says he's not aware of anything, But I just wanted to get some opinions from people who may have first hand knowledge or know of someone who does. So I guess do benzos and ssri's mix well? I really need the xanax untill the prozac can kick in.

I cannot take Xanax, I have terrible hallucinations on Xanax. Your should adjust to the new doseage in a week or 10 days. Prozac helped me for years but after several years the effects quit working for me. I did really good on Prozac....a really good medication.

I am currently on 20 mg of prozac and .5 of xanax. The insomnia from the prozac is crazy. I have a prescription for trazadone but do not want to take because of the interaction with the prozac. Ive been reading about melatonin. Has anyone tried taking it for sleep? Did it help? And will the insomnia from prozac get better and how long would that take?

I am feeling no different with the anxiety. I am thinking I might need to get on xanax for a little while until my prozac is increased since it is really driving me crazy. Any advice would be great.

t work for me anymore , so I went to my doctor yesterday and she put me on this detox regimen to wean me off the Xanax , 2mg Xanax two times a day for one month and with Prozac 20mg 1 time a day for 30 days , then 2mg Xanax 1 time a day with the Prozac for 30 days , then she droped me down to 1mg of Xanax a day with the Prozac for 30 days , and then the Prozac will take the place of the Xanax , I think thats a little long to wean of of Xanax as I told her , but told me this is the safest way

Hello there! A friend of mine is on Prozac for depression and it works awesome for her. She used to cut herself everywhere because of a severe social disorder (sorry, the name escapes me), bipolar depression, and an anxiety disorder. The difference was like night and day. She had to go through inpatient care just because of her specific condition, but the Prozac was the first thing they tried when she was sent home, and she's been great.

My doctor put me on 20mg of prozac to take daily. I also have 0.5 mg of xanax that I take if I have an attack, I was wondering will xanax increase the possibility of developing seretionion syndrome?! Please help because I haven't started prozac yet because I'm scared of getting seretonion syndrome!

Im on 3 mg of xanax and 40 mg of prozac my dr told me i could have occasional beer with these meds....over the years i have been on ativan or klonopin and drank non alkie beer it does have 0.5 percent alchol by volume and had no affect..i also drank it while on abilify,risperdal.and celexa over the past two yeaars...........so is it ok to drink it with the xanax and prozac........i had a couple i and i thought i got a buzz..which has never happened when i was on ativan or klonopin.

Hello there! A lot of people are afraid to try medications. It's true that you don't know how you'll react to it, but honestly, Prozac has a pretty good track record. MOST likely the worst thing that will happen is that you'll experience some start up side effects, which will improve after about 2 weeks or so. Out of all the antidepressants, Prozac is one of the better tolerated. Be careful with the Xanax.

For the past several years, I have been developing anxiety which at first I believed to be a form of GAD (generalized anxiety disorder), but more recently appears to be related to seasonal changes (SAD), since the pattern of anxiety begins in September and gets worse as the days grow shorter. I recently got off Vicodin on January 2nd. It became addictive. I've been on Xanax for 10 years and I am tapering. I'm taking 1-1/2 mg. per day and I started taking Prozac at 10 mg. per day a week ago. I got a new dr and he says i am depressed and put me on 20 mg of Prozac...as some of u know i have had problems for some time..well today is my 4th day on the prozac and he also had me stop my ativan and put me on a high dose of xanx 6 mgs....but im not taking that much he ssiad i could play around with the xanx dose,,,but i feel kinda more depressed today and im so drowsy and dizzy and my walking is bad kinda feel like im in slow motion and just cant walk good cause of the dizziness.

I've been on prozac13 yrs, my therapist retired and isn't prescribing meds anymore just got cut off prozac and xanax can't find a doctor to prescribe my Prozac until I can find a new therapist close by. However yesterday I went to my doc for a check up and she found that I was having a very fast resting heartbeat. She seemed a little concerned and prescribed me prozac to go along with my xanax due to the fact that i am dealing with the end of a 4 year relationship which has me stressed, upset and confused. hi since march 3 i have been on prozac and xanax i have depression and anxiety...im a bit bettter but my dr said prozac is very stimulating and im not finding that im still depressed and dragging around....are others on prozac and xanxax with luck.....dr is thinking of adding a amphetimine when i next go back to see him...im thinking like ritalin or something....its been almost a month shouldnt i feel better...does xanax make the prozac not help with depression or something?

hi its been 2 months now on the prozac and xanax and one month on the adderall.i really cant tell any difference...i have tingling legs,itchy scalp and imfull of fear this mornig..my dr is retireing and i found a new one i will see in june,,the dr i have been seeing has been playing with my doses but i just dont see it helping,,right now im on 20 mg prozac and 3 mg xanax and 30 mg adderaLL...

And I have heard that Prozac can help with panic; however xanax and prozac are two different types of drugs. Prozac is more continuous (throughout the day) and should only be taken once a day. However, xanax's effect usually only lasts about 4 hours max and is at its peak at about 2 hours. That being said, it is interesting that you mentioned you only take such a low dose and only once a day.

I dont know whats up im feeling way dizzy and my walking is worse than ever...have been on the xanax since tuesday night and the prozac since wed morning,,,i was on prozac last year and so i dont think its if unless its the difffernt branad before i was on teh 20 mg thee pills were two tone green these ones are blue..or maybe its the xanax..i was having walking problems before but now its bad..maybe i just need to get used to the xanax im not taking the 6 mg yesterday i took 3 mgs........

I would look at the birth control pill in relation to your thyroid medication and disease, and also the consequences of mixing the birth control and the Prozac. You may find that switching birth control will allow for treatment other than Prozac. Just a thought, but I think it has merit. Keeping up on your bloodwork and getting stable at the correct level is the best medicine. If Prozac helps short term, go for it. I'm taking xanax.

Is it ok to take Prozac & Xanax while im pregnant??? Will this harm my baby?? Im 3-4 mths now and very worried someone plese help me...

if you plan on taking xanax long term you might want to consider Klonapin instead. Xanax is highly addictive and is not recommended for long-term use while Klonapin (which is very similar and in my opinion works just as well) is more suitable for long term use and less addictive.
