489656 tn?1249999983 (can you edit a post?) Anyway, I just realized that your question involved pregnancy and zoloft- sorry I missed that part the first time.
Avatar n tn t like the side effects)...I was a little hesitant to try Wellbutrin since I had success with Prozac in the past, which works on Serotonin (like Zoloft) and Wellbutrin works on Dopamine (a completely different drug)...well I have to say, after 3 tough weeks of severe nausea, lightheadedness, dizziness, headaches, and dry mouth, I had to stop Wellbutrin and will be going back to prozac.
1481291 tn?1287793105 Zoloft is the safest in pregnancy Prozac has a bit more risks. I am taking zoloft in pregnancy right now and no problems so far and I know many many many women on here and not on here who are taking zoloft or have taking zoloft during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Not working again anaway!
459689 tn?1276570143 Bottom line, Remeron may help with the sleep and sexual disfunction issues if you would consider it as an alternative to the Zoloft. I, in no way want to sway you in your decision but I thought you might like to know of another option.
Avatar f tn I wound in the ER twice during my pregnancy, the 2nd time they kept me and induced the pregnancy (I was already 12 days late, so it wasn't that bad). They ran as many as they could with me being pregnant. I am just worried about doing it again but I really want 2 kids. They have told me that my gallbladder probably caused most of my problems during the pregnancy but I just wonder if I will be as lucky next time around.
644974 tn?1312758070 im also on zoloft for depression which i have managed to gratully reduce to 100mg p/day and tegratol which im on 100mg per day are these safe in pregnancy?
Avatar f tn How far along are you in your pregnancy? I took Zoloft through out my whole pregnancy. How long did you give it time to work?
Avatar f tn Hello, welcome! Actually, Paxil, while it may work for some people (everyone is different of course), it's one of the more difficult ADs to tolerate and is notoriously difficult to come off for many people. Prozac is much more "user friendly" in that respect. All ADs in the same class work quite a bit differently in their mechanism of action. Effexor (an SNRI as mentioned above) is also a tough one to get off, compared to other ADs.
Avatar f tn I take Prozac for OCD. I have had OCD for many years but just started taking Prozac in October. I have gradually noticed a difference and usually for the better but still have times when I seem like I'm slipping back again. I have also noticed that I have times elevated mood, which is great....lol....but it's almost too elevated....lol. Anyway hope that you find the medication thats right for you. Oh.by the way I take 30mg a day.
Avatar m tn Hi there! Welcome to the forum...and thanks for sharing details about your anxiety, it really helps people! There is no right or wrong answer to your question, and like you said....some things work great for some, and don't work at all for others. Finding the "right" med for YOU will involve some time, and patience on your part, and many times, a degree of trial and error with different doses and regimens.
Avatar n tn No, it is not safe, especially in the first trimester. I had to stop taking them as soon as my pregnancy test was positive. When I was in the middle of my second trimester, the doctor said that there were safe antidepressants to take under the care of a psychiatrist but since I am now 32 weeks, I am doing my best to just stick it out without the meds. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Zoloft is probably the worst out of all the antidepressants o.o The two that are the safest are prozac, and welbutrin -welbutrin being the safest. @djan2011 sometimes a natural remedy is more dangerous than a pharmaceutical when it comes to depression. I myself fell into a deep depression around 13 weeks pregnant and had to start taking prozac short term had I not I probably would have killed myself.
958812 tn?1268764172 s can be taken during pregnancy if the benefits outweigh the risks. Zoloft, Prozac, and Celexa are a few examples of Class C antidepressants that fit into this category. In general, its best to avoid these medications during the 1st trimester, if at all possible, and depending on the dosage you are on you may need to tapper down before delivery as some baby's do experience mild-moderate withdrawal symptoms after delivery. Visteral can be taken during pregnancy for panic attacks.
Avatar m tn The zoloft is probably working against the sleep aid and you are caught in the middle. Prozac is in the same family as zoloft but they were light years apart for me. i hate zoloft, it is messy non suttle and just to much for my delicate nature, but I could drink 15 martinis and have never felt delicate but zoloft was just too much. i felt the effects right away. I did not want to get addicted to having to have a sleep aid to sleep, that is a road i have no interest in.
Avatar f tn I was having panic attack after panic attack, on edge, jittery and very nervous and my head had really funny thoughts nothing really bad just was thinking of weird things!!
Avatar f tn Idk about prosaic but my ob put me on zoloft its the safest in pregnancy and if you don't feel right your baby wont
Avatar m tn I stopped Zoloft and went back on prozac. I stopped the prozac after a couple traumatic events with increased panic. For some reason i thought the prozac no longer worked. i doubt the zoloft would have either. The sexual side effects will happen with any ssri, but prozac was much more suttle and only lasted a few days. the zoloft was far worse, my desire was greatly diminished and..well you know the rest. I was told early on that if an ssri is correct you will feel nothing...
Avatar n tn Is Zoloft or Librium safe during pregnancy? Are there any antidepressents that are safe during pregnancy?
Avatar f tn I checked again about the safety of Prozac in pregnancy, and I was wrong in the first post, Prozac is not safe, sorry! Did the Dr that prescribed it for you aware that you're pregnant? There are a lot of different antidepressants that are safe though! I am on Anafranil. You can check on the internet to find out about the different meds.
Avatar f tn t very consistent with it though) and so I have been taking less of the Zoloft and more of the Prozac. Every four days, I take 25 less of the Zoloft and I am slowly going up to at least 10 mL of Prozac. Right now I'm at 5 mL of Prozac and 25 mg of Zoloft, and yesterday I started to gag horribly. Since then I haven't felt any better. I keep gagging and have a hard time eating or drinking because of it. What makes things worse is I have a fear of vomiting.
2064754 tn?1333375663 There are faster actiing meds like Xanax and Ativan that are used on an as needed basis and are usually prescribed more short term and then there are medications like Zoloft and Prozac (SSRIs) that are prescribed more long term and taken on a regular basis. While these are only two types, there are also multiple other classes of medications that are used in the treatment of both. Whether or not to use medication is definitely a personal choice and not everyone chooses to do so.
Avatar f tn I'm on zoloft and I'm 30 weeks pregnant and everything is fine
Avatar f tn I have heard horror stories about coming off of paxil and zoloft which is why I opted for the prozac vs the others. I could have chosen celexa too. My other medication for my stomach is pretty pricey and that is not an option not to take so I figured I would start with the cheepest here. Also, I am more comfortable going with an older drug....I figure the kinks are worked out of it.
