Some patients that struggle with the sweating issue with take their Prozac at bedtime to try to minimize this side effect, but even that doesn't always work. Keep in mind that there are other anti-anxiety/depression choices out there if you are willing to try. Some other choices which typically have less sweating: Zoloft (sertraline),, Celexa (Citalopram), and Lexapro (Escitalopram). Stay away from Paxil (Paroxetine) as that treatment has as much or more sweating than Prozac.
Hello, i'm a 16 year old boy and i was prescribed topamax 25mg for migraines over a year ago. A few months ago i was also prescribed wellbutrin 300mg and prozac 10mg for depression and anxiety. When I first started taking the topamax i hardly sweated. I did start sweating a fair amount before taking the wellbutrin and prozac but the sweating has just increased since then and i've been getting large stains on my armpits just from sitting in class.
im sure i spelled thsi wrong but i have some sweating off and on on my prozac and i have been switched on so many meds lately im wondering if i might have serotonyin syndrome....my dr is gpoing to up my prozac from 20 mg to 40 mg (I have been on prozac since march 3 and also xanax...before that i had been on ativan since may 09,,and in jan a dr tried me on lithium depakote and zyprexa all during the month of jan....
I have had excessive head sweating for the past 2 years,i am post menopause and very active.I do not feel comfortble enough anymore to enjoy life no one wants to hug a sweathog!!I take zoloft for panic attacks and vasotech 5mg daily for bp which has never been over 140/80 but Dr. said it was time to watch it.I may be 15lbs overweight but i could sweat that off tonight. I was a chronic prescribed diet pill user[tenuate] but stopped three years ago with no problem.
i take Wellbutrin and Prozac. They make me sweat. So my doc suggested I take them at night instead of morning so I'm not at work or in public sweating like an animal lol. It seems to have helped with the sweating so far. Will my system be going through a chemical change for a while due to the switch? The past few days I have been going through some harsh depression,symptoms. Awake all night sleep all day my place is a royal mess I can't stand it.
I am on Celexa which is being weined and Prozac was started yesterday. I cold turkey quit Lortab 60mg as f 6pm on Sunday after 8 months of use. Today when I get up too quickly, I become very dizzy and almost pass out. Am I in seratonin syndrome?
A normal dose of Prozac also wouldn't cause SS. You'd know if you had it....it is very severe, you would most likely be in the hospital.
Try to focus on other things, go for a walk, watch a movie....something to get your mind off of these repetitive worries.
Hi, I'm a 15 year old girl who has been taking up to 100 mg of Zoloft for anxiety/panic for a month or so. Recently we decided to go off of it because I thought it was what was causing me to have unwanted thoughts. I was prescribed Prozac, which I had taken before (I wasn't very consistent with it though) and so I have been taking less of the Zoloft and more of the Prozac. Every four days, I take 25 less of the Zoloft and I am slowly going up to at least 10 mL of Prozac.
I've started taking 10mg of Prozac for almost a month now for anxiety and I've been getting a few different effects going on. I've been getting pressure headaches in the back of my head, sometimes I feel light-headed. I'm tending to space out a bit more than usual and getting drowzy (They said that would most likely happen, so I should take my meds at night). And the past few nights when I've woken up, my hands have fallen asleep.
I had sweating with Effexor and Cymbalta. It's not just the discomfort; you don't want to add sweating if you already have oily skin - breakouts. I think Prozac caused it, but I'm not sure. I'm currently getting by with a very low dose of amitriptyline. Not a lot of sweating with it, but it can cause weight gain and constipation. I need to gain weight right now, so it's okay.
hello its me again....been on the prozac 20 mg since march 3 and the xanx too...but after being on so many meds in jan u know depakote,lithium,and zyprexa and now prozac im worried about seritonin syndrome...since being on the prozac i sweat alot...i think i did read thats a side effect....im doing more but im also kinda feel more sadness so my dr is upping the prozac from 20 mg to 40 mg.....im a bit worried about that as usual......i just feel so discouraged that nothing is gonna work.....
I've been taking Fluoxetine (generic Prozac) for a few years now and about 6 months ago I upped my dosage. My sex drive on the lower dose was already low, but now it's almost non-existent. At first it wasn't a problem because I haven't been seeing anyone, but now that I am I would really like to try and fix this problem.
Since I'm female feel like this is going to be a more difficult process.
Would anyone know of any supplements that can help this side effect??
i dont know if its the medication or something but ever since ive been taking prozac ive had scary vivid dreams, often scattering topics like religion, the end of the world, and events that ive expieranced earlier in the day all in one night. i woke up at 4:30 last night shaking because the dream felt so real. I was just wondering if this is natural with the prozac? have any of you experianced this?
I'd like to start off by saying that i'm 17 and male. Last night I was just watching youtube when all of the sudden everything changed. In a split second I went from happy/giggly to a full on throwing up, sweating, shaking, disorienting attack.
woke up this mornign with my blood pressure high 148/89,its never been that high and it keeps going up and down,,,,im scared its from splitting the dose or serotin syndrome,as i also have had the dierehha some sweating,ever since being put on prozac,,,my dr wont be in till tommorow and i go see him on tuesday,,,maybe i need to cut back on the prozac,,,to like 30 mg till i see dr does anyone now about serotin syndrome,,,and if i might have it

I smoked a tiny bit of pot on it, literally one hit, and about an hr later I started having heart palps and tremors- major anxiety. It was soo bad i couldnt even breathe. I was sweating and shaking uncontrollably. Ever since that I have just not been quite right.

My son wanted to get off antidepressants so the doctor suggested he go on prozac to counteract the wd from effexor.....(75mg) prozacs half life is 5 weeks , while effexors is less than 24 hours...so it's really hard to go off it especially if you have been on it for a while...even if they lower the dose to wean you it's pretty bad....withdrawal is awful. He's never been on Lexapro so I can't tell you if that will do the same thing...ease the withdrawal.
About 3 weeks ago my stomach got queasy & with that I would get fast heart beat & sweating. I was home alone & paniced. Went to ER. Went See family dr. & gyno. Was put 10 mg. Prozac & 10 mg. Estradol cause of pre menopause. Also have been on .50 Xanax for years to help me sleep. Since I’ve started prozac I feel like I’m goin crazy!!! No appetite very jittery & feels like my heart is racing.
I would like to ask your opinion- I took my Cymbalta Wed (12/4) morning as normal (been on it 4-5 yrs for depression but been depression free since 10/2012) anyway Wed 12/4 I went into the hospital for a scheduled Gastric Bypass Reversal (long story) and I did not find out until the next morning 12/5/13 that I could not have the cymbalta that day.
Besides profuse sweating my heartbeat would accelerate to 130-150 beats per minute (I am normally 70 beats per minute) and I would become extremely lightheaded, dizzy and nauseous. I had to weigh my disdain for taking these pills against the possibility of a stroke due to increased blood pressure during these episodes.
