provigil

Avatar n tn hey guys. has anyone ever heard of,or taken provigil? kristens lupus doctor prescribed her provigil for the constant fatigue being that it is the most debilitating of all her symtoms minus the depression and anxiety which is becoing controlled with the treatent facility that she is in. i read a lot about it and it said that it was much less likely for it to be addictive. also, it doesnt work from the nervous system so it wont make her really jittery.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am a 29 yo F who was diagnosed with MS in 1998. I have been doing awesome on provigil for the last 7 years. Now my insurance company will not pay for it, and I surely can't afford $380 per month for this. I have recently run out of the dr's samples and my last prescription. My dr has done everything they can think of to fight this and I have done the same. If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it. I am just tired all of the time.
Avatar n tn hey guys. thnk you for all the info about lupus and your encouraging words. her doctor that will be treating the disease is starting her on provigil. i did some research online and it seems to be pretty safe and has a lower probability of addiction is far less than the other options... the constant fatigue seems to be her biggest day to day issue. minus the depression and anxiety but that is getting much better since she went into treatment...
400099 tn?1282954864 said if I remember correctly, that it is due for release next month. I have complicating health issues along with the MS such as lupus and kidney desease so I'm my dr's challenge. My dr. is absolutely wonderful and I bless God for finding him for me.
233622 tn?1279334905 I take Coreg for bp and tachycardia and am also taking Provigil. I get relief from my fatigue on just 100mg a day and have had no problem with the bp. I have noticed some mild tachycardia recently, but I think it may be connected to the recent switch to generic Coreg. I'm curious . . . can tachycardia be caused by MS?
Avatar f tn Continued with more of the same - flareups w/ exertion - never in full remission. 2006: March-May - Unidentified pain in left side of face and aching in left upper teeth - negative CT scan of sinuses - negative dental problems. 2006: June - Severe pain in upper abdomen - almost went to emergency room, but didn't - negative CT scan of gallbladder. 2006: August - diagnosed with several food allergies including Gluten and Cow's Milk.
Avatar m tn It is also prescribed for extreme fatigue, but if it is not prescribed for the 3 things that the FDA has given approval for, insurance will not approve it. I took Provigil for about a year, I was on suboxone at the time, which can cause excessive sleepyness, but it was more than that. In the end, I was tested for sleep apnea and ended up being diagnosed with RLS, which can cause the same symptoms. The provigil worked great, but like Eagle said, it is very expensive.
1710955 tn?1309446473 Are there any other meds for fatigue besides provigil? The reason I ask is because for the drug interactions for provigil says don't take if you're on beta blockers or amitriptline (sp). Which of course I'm on both. Thanks for any suggestions in advance. I see my pcp on Wednesday, and I want to be ahead of the game!
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken Provigil for the extreme fatigue of fibro? It is not one of the conditions listed for it's use. But if it helps with extreme fatigue in other conditions, why wouldn't it help in fibro. Thinking about asking my PCP about it next time I'm in to see him.
Avatar f tn Medicine is what I meant to say! I'm getting used to typing on an iPad...it fills in words that I don't want sometimes...
429700 tn?1308007823 I don't have MS (so it appears), but I have quite a few similar symptoms, including dizziness and the related brain fog and fatigue. Back in 2000, neuro prescribed Provigil, saying "we used to use Ritalin for this" but that Provigil is now favored because of fewer side effects. Provigil was very helpful for both fatigue and cognition, although I didn't like the late-afternoon "letdown" effect I got with it. It was rather unpleasant.
Avatar m tn For all practical purposes I have been bed ridden for the past 2 months. That is when he suggested Provigil. I have not heard of this on the forum. Anybody know anything as it relates to Hepc tx? Of course I have googled it. He made me another appointment in 4 weeks(a miracle in itself!) to see how it was working and talk more of 24 week treatment.Any comments welcome.
Avatar f tn So far Provigil has mostly been beneficial for me . . . it usually gives me the energy and focus I need to get some things (but not all) done. But yesterday and today I just can't seem to focus on anything. It is SO frustrating . . . I think I have the energy to do things . . . but I don't know where to start . . . or I begin something only to be sidetracked to another.
968560 tn?1307451498 I checked with the provigil,my insurance wont cover it and even that they have a generic available for provigil (modafil) the price for the generic without insurance is $167 a month 200mg a day.My hepa said all stimulants have the potential for abuse Didrex is a class III schedule and is less addictive than the addrerall or the ritilan(which he cant write for anyway. Didrex was approved by the FDA in 1960 as a Central Nerve stimulant. The normal dosage is 2-50mg tabs daily and costs $22.
405614 tn?1329144114 I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you, that they will approve Provigil for you. You would think with all the advertisements for the med that the Dr would have samples to give you until your insurance approves it. Thats how I get my Lidoderm patches, he just saves them out for me and I drop by the office and voila I have a brown paper bag of relief. I would cut off my feet (just kidding) to get something to lift the brain fog.... Good luck with all the insurance stuff....
572735 tn?1217201019 anything else i can take for my fatigue other than provigil? it gave me migraines! HELP ME!!!!!!!!!I'm tired of Being tired! And sick of being Sick!!!!
Avatar n tn although they have tested a new drug for cocaine addiction, it has not been approved by the fda yet. i used for coke for 5 years very heavily and went c/t as the physical w/d's from coke are so minimul, but it is the mental part that is devastaing. have you tried n/a meetings, counselling. quitting this drug is a devil to quit and as of now, there is now pill that will help as i know of.
Avatar f tn I tried Provigil last summer with high hopes, after wrangling my insurer over it--it's expensive. Alas, it didn't do diddley for me. Maybe Ampyra will help me. I'm exhausted all the time.
Avatar f tn I am also suffer from fatigue, general body soreness which feels like the flu, and muscle weakness. I use serum tears, systane (over the counter), and restasis for the dry eyes which provides some relief. I take very good care of my teeth, use biotene products and chew a lot of gum (trident with xylotol) but still have decay and erosion. I take hydroxychloroquine (Planquenil) and NSAIDs but I don't feel that there's been significant improvement.
1394098 tn?1385960134 So now my Dr is thinking of prescribing Provigil. Has anyone tried this drug. If so does it work well for fatigue. I read that it helps with focus but I haven't read anything about it helping with tiredness.
5509293 tn?1428531475 I have been taking nuvigil 250mg every morning since 2009. Now 2015 my insurance will not pay. My dr has send everything insurance ask for. So my dr put me on Modofinil 200mg 2 every morning I'm paying 299.99 for 30 pills because my insurance is saying its for people with sleep disorders or shift workers.
Avatar f tn on the addictions forum someone brought up the topic provigil for energy, i have been clean for a while now but i have hep so my energy level is very low, and i also have under active thyroid so my question is this, when i researced this new drug i found """PROVIGIL is a federally controlled substance (C-IV) because it has the potential to be abused or lead to dependence. Please use PROVIGIL only as directed and keep in a safe place to prevent misuse and abuse.
390916 tn?1204840470 Has anyone tried ProVigil? My sleep specialist suggested that I try it for the deep tiredness that I experience, even after getting great help with sleep from my CPAP machine. By the way, my trip to Seattle went very well. Though it is indeed very hilly, the cooler weather and low humidity made it easier to get around than here is muggy Baltimore. The weather seems to have a huge impact on this disease.
