Provigil and heart problems

Common Questions and Answers about Provigil and heart problems

provigil

Avatar f tn I am on day 3 of Provigil and am having a very hard time of it. My ever-present hand tremors have gotten much much worse, to the point where it's hard to eat with forks and spoons and I keep spilling food. I'm also feeling wired, as in way too much caffeine, which I generally avoid because of how it makes me feel. My provigil dose is 100 mg in the morning, though I'm allowed up to 200. Yikes, 200 might be unbearable.
1100837 tn?1267668675 m experiencing from the RA and FMS with Provigil (for fatigue) and Effexor XR (for pain). What do you all think?
620048 tn?1358018235 I do use OTC sleep aids like you said and i think for now i will continue, i have some ambien, but i will keep it to use when i need it, since i had to beg for it. I dont want to use it all the time anyway. And i use 200 mg of provigil now, and i sometimes i could use a bit more. But i try to stick with 200 mg.
5509293 tn?1428531475 Hi Corrie, Thanks so much for input. After some waiting, some calls, neuro wants me to stick with it since it's helping fatigue and try a lower dose so I am doing that now and it's better so far and still effective without the sudden heart poundings! So we'll see how it goes. Do you mind me asking why you stopped it after a year? Did you no longer need it or did you try something else? Ison't know how you would know you no longer need it unless you come off it.
233622 tn?1279334905 My mom who has high blood pressure also is on provigil for narcolepsy (SPEELED HORRIBLY WRONG!) She had a heart attack back in April and provigil was one of the first drugs the heart doctor put her back on.
968560 tn?1307451498 Anybody know if there is any problems taking tramadol and provigil together?
871962 tn?1244730028 The medications I have used are provigil and adderall, and I don't take them every day, so tracking them would be helpful. (I currently take provigil.) Tracking the degree of sleepiness is also helpful, since I am sleepy almost every day and a yes/no doesn't do much. Others with narcolepsy might benefit from tracking sleep paralysis but fortunately I don't have that problem. That being said, I really like all the trackers here.
797195 tn?1240579823 I have been living with MS for ten years and have been lucky. Between taking AVonex and Provigil my relapses are very few and far between. and also not severe.
Avatar f tn Are you having some surgery? Or did you have only a mild heart attack? I was having some heart problems and ended up having a stent put in..I never stopped taking my nuvigil and wasn't told to do so.
649926 tn?1297657780 I have been having severe cognitive problems for several months and it is really interfering with my job & home life. My neurologist gave me Adderal, it is like Ritalin. I have had to adjust the milligrams 4 times, but it works and I 'm able to focus on my work. Before I got the medication, I would have times where I would lose my thoughts in a conversation, i would forget simple things like adding and subtracting.....it was miserable. I take (3) Adderal XR 20 mg a day.
Avatar n tn I also started to have extreme pain in my temples, forehead(like sinus congestion), and nausea. I went to the ENT and got a CT scan and they said they didnt see any problems with my sinuses. I also stopped taking Provigil, but im still having pressure in my temples and forehead. I know Provigil can cause headaches but this is not like any headache I have had. I still feel pressure in my temples and forhead even though I have stopped taking Provigil. Can you have withdraws from Provigil?
390916 tn?1204840470 I used to love going to Seattle and climbing up and down all those hills; I once walked from lower Queen Anne to the Woodland Park Zoo, walked around there, and walked all the way back. Those days are gone, but I would like to try it in a car someday just to measure how far I went (not to mention elevation gain and loss) I live down in Portland, but I've been to Seattle many times. I'm glad you got to enjoy it.
Avatar f tn My neuro has just prescribed Provigil for me. (I emailed him and he answered within 5 minutes! Gotta hand it to him for that.) Anyway, I had previously had Amantadine, which did zilch, even at 200 mg. I am authorized to take 100 mg of Provigil, and can go to 200 if necessary. From what I recall, many of you take half a pill, so I guess that's 50. Have looked up the drug info online and it said side effects include nausea and anxiety, among other things, including a serious rash..
405614 tn?1329144114 I received a letter of denial for Provigil coverage after a free week's trial (from the drug company). The Provigil made a world of difference, but is really expensive. My other option is Ritalin, and I don't like the sound of the side effects. I had no negative ones from Provigil.
704043 tn?1298056844 i have tried provigil 2 much money- and samples of nuvigil - provigil 4 me worked the best- but now financialy need 2 ask about one of these others? which one or r they the same?? (alot cheaper) got a flyer from medicare or aarp tellin me this -that they r cheaper.. thanks anybody!!!
Avatar f tn I have ms and was having breathing difficulty, i wasnt sure if it was from the weather i am from chicago and it has been very hot and muggy here or if was from the provigil that i am taking or do you think it could be something else?
Avatar f tn s thread mentions this, and Shoshin describes it. I did try it and it had zilch effect. So did Provigil, for that matter. Yet since we're all so different what doesn't work for one can do wonders for the next person. At least Amantadine is very cheap, so it wouldn't be a big investment to give it a try.
1088527 tn?1425313375 I started taking provigil yesterday and wow I cant believe the energy I scrubbed the shower down washed the cabinets down went food shopping then took dog to dog park for 4 hours then home and dinner usually just one of these activities wipes me out . I am glad that I have energy but I feel jittery my legs feel like they are going hundred miles and hour and I am stuttering badly in the am I think I am trying to talk faster then I can get it out.
Avatar f tn s been an issue with me for more than 10 years, but the last 2 months I was really bad and just being awake for more than 5 hours wore me out. He prescribed Provigil and I've read some of the threads on it and it sounds very promising. My question is, is it something you can take daily indefinitely? Or are you supposed to just take it when you need it (which would be daily for me!) I hope my insurance will cover it because I'm not diagnosed with ms or anything.
Avatar m tn Barely had the energy to make it out of bed most days, and was extremely foggy all the time. It was very difficult to be able to concentrate on my work or do anything requiring the use of my brain. I was seriously thinking about stopping the tx because of this even though I know the consequences. My Dr. recently prescribed Provigil for me. Knowing my history, and my usual positive attitude even during the hell of the tx, he thought that would be better for me that an anti-depressant.
Avatar m tn t help, they try something else and only as last resort will they Rx provigil, due to cost and health issues(heart depression, etc)
Avatar m tn My psychiatrist just gave me Nuvigil which is an updated version of Provigil for when I come off methadone cold turkey on Tuesday. When most of the physical withdrawals are gone, then I will start taking it to try to get back into life. He won't prescribe it for over a month. He's also an addictionologist. Nuvigil is supposed to have less side effects and literally just came out.
Avatar n tn Since I have been symptomatic with autonomic problems, I have gradually been getting more and more sleepy. I have sleep paralysis every time I fall asleep. Just the other day I was in starbucks drinking coffee and I started to fall asleep. I fell into sleep paralysis right there in the store and I couldn't move! I have talked to my internist, and she has referred to a neurologist who is a sleep medicine specialist. My appointment is next week.
