Common Questions and Answers about Provigil users forum

provigil

Avatar f tn I dont know if this is accurate or not, but I thought it should be shared. I just read this in the "Health" Section of Foxnews.com I have heard a lot of really good things about Provigil, although I've never used it. It was recommended to me many times though. Just some food for thought. Seems EVERYTHING comes with its own set of dangers attached.
620048 tn?1358018235 However, someone here pointed out that Nuvigil might just be a way the makers of Provigil have to keep Provigil users paying for Trade name drug a little longer (since Provigil will be going generic soon). However, you might consider just having your doctor order a few pills of Nuvigil to see if it could help you. Also, regarding the Provigil: Make sure its expiration date is a long time off. I have found that can make a difference - that it gets weaker with time.
Avatar m tn Then who do you blame? Hence users should never say get this tablet or get that tablet. As much as they mean well. They are not your doctor.
Avatar f tn on the addictions forum someone brought up the topic provigil for energy, i have been clean for a while now but i have hep so my energy level is very low, and i also have under active thyroid so my question is this, when i researced this new drug i found """PROVIGIL is a federally controlled substance (C-IV) because it has the potential to be abused or lead to dependence. Please use PROVIGIL only as directed and keep in a safe place to prevent misuse and abuse.
Avatar f tn Nuvigil is the NU version of Provigil that Cephalon has developed that will be protected under patent law from generic versions until 2023. They are doing their best to geet Provigil users to switch to Nuvigil over the next few years, protecting their market share and their profits. This is the same thing that was done with Ambien and countless other rx drugs. A new pill, AmbienCR was developed and released and the patent clock was reset to zero.
429700 tn?1308007823 After all this time, three years at least, my insurance company is no longer approving me for Provigil. This drug is the one thing that I've taken that has made a huge impact on the quality of my life. Without it, I'm unable to think clearly and I'm too fatigued to get up out of bed or off the couch. I may have to retire on disability because there's no way I will be able to teach. The drug also helps with the ADD (diagnosed after the MS as an adult, LOL).
Avatar f tn s been an issue with me for more than 10 years, but the last 2 months I was really bad and just being awake for more than 5 hours wore me out. He prescribed Provigil and I've read some of the threads on it and it sounds very promising. My question is, is it something you can take daily indefinitely? Or are you supposed to just take it when you need it (which would be daily for me!) I hope my insurance will cover it because I'm not diagnosed with ms or anything.
Avatar f tn They are doing their best to get Provigil users to switch to Nuvigil over the next few years, protecting their market share and their profits. This is the same thing that was done with Ambien and countless other rx drugs. A new pill, AmbienCR was developed and released and the patent clock was reset to zero. The new sleep pill is really only a combination of two already existing drugs, but the mfg. promotes it as new and so much better for us. As consumers we of course only want the best.
1511858 tn?1290477459 Hi everybody, I went to my doctor today regarding my tireness and how I still have tremors in the legs and hands, He put me on provigil, he also shared with me that he feels when my thyroid is out of whack its causeing this attack on something that would otherwise was dorment? He wants to still rule out ms but if i dont have ms he wants to start searching for the other things he has in mind. He refused to say what!!!!!! wants me to focus on ruling out ms.
1394098 tn?1385960134 So now my Dr is thinking of prescribing Provigil. Has anyone tried this drug. If so does it work well for fatigue. I read that it helps with focus but I haven't read anything about it helping with tiredness.
Avatar m tn A decent GP would be the place to start ..... provigil is actually indicated for treatment of CFS .......... Its an expensive drug at 10.00 a pill prescription.....lots of insurance companies dont wish to cover it for that reason...... but it is being widely used now - - it will most likely be rescheduled before long because it has more of the shortcomings that straight amphetamines have than was thought during trials........
398059 tn?1447945633 t been on Provigil but several on the forum have. Fluffysmom has used it . Hopefully someone who has used it will pop in here and answer your question. You might try sending Fluffysmom a note and see what she can tell you.
535822 tn?1443976780 We have both types and if users want answers from an expert, they should submit them through the Ask a Doctor Forum. They can get questions from other patients or get support in Support Communities. In the Family Medicine forum, questions are currently answered by Dr. Keyes. She answered a question about an hour ago! If you're looking into the Family Medicine community, that's a support community of other patients.
Avatar f tn If I forget and miss it, I can tell because I feel draggy, fogged and wasted all day. The only reason I am able to be on the forum is the Provigil! Beyond the mental alertness and ability to get going, the med stabilizes a lot of my chronic vertigo (which is now manifested by severe unsteadiness) and allows me to think much more clearly. I would say that it really helps the cog fog. I still occasionally use a higher dose.
Avatar f tn I have taken both Provigil and Nuvigil. The neuro that treats my sleep apnea prescribed Provigil for me several years ago before I was diagnosed with MS. They are expensive meds but do more than any other drug I take to noticably improve my daily life. I'd give up many other things to continue to afford either one. Neither drug gets rid of my fatigue or boosts my energy (wish they did). What they do is help to keep me awake and alert during the day.
405614 tn?1329144114 addendum: just to clarify, I don't think provigil users are pill seekers! I think my doc has a narrow view and want to know more about these medications. It sounds like it could really be of help to me.
Avatar m tn Hi, introducing myself, I am new to the forum, diagnosed with CFS And FM about 3 years ago, did not take it seriously - doc did not take it seriously and just prescribed antidepressants. now much sicker, have no life, looking for doctor who knows something about this. What questions do you ask? What kind of doc? Rheumatologist, neurologist, internist?
Avatar m tn I have heard of a few meds that can be taken w/ pain meds that help....such as provigil. I have been on fentanyl, mscontin, oxycodone, and morphine IR. Thanks for your help.
Avatar n tn Hi there. Modafinil or provigil is a central nervous system stimulant and much abused. This can produce euphoria, it can be abused for a high sensation particularly by students as stimulants for staying up all night for exams. There are certain common side effects associated with its use like headache, dizziness, difficulty in falling asleep, drowsiness, nausea, heartburn, confusion and burning, tingling and numbness of skin. There could be certain withdrawal symptoms associated with it.
Avatar n tn Its been a long time since I've been to rehab and I've heard there are new meds to help "take the edge off" when detoxing from cocaine. Provigil was one of them. Does anyone have any knowledge of this type of therapy? It would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I still feel pressure in my temples and forhead even though I have stopped taking Provigil. Can you have withdraws from Provigil?
